You or your friend..

Make she read well,and do all that needs to be done to pass.and then request for her scripts if she fails again.

1.A letter to the dean of the faculty and another letter to the DVC academics

2.request for a remark and pray about it.

3. Beg for a waiver

4. Maybe she onced turned the lecturers handling those courses down and it may be payback(sex)

Nigerian Universities and "Hold Him Down" syndrome - what happens to giving mop up exam or re-sit for students who fail? Why do schools/universities takes pride in making it hard for their students to graduate?

The course may even be one useless course that adds nothing to the person's self development. In UK Universities, they will specifically engage the students with this type of problem and see how to help the people concern to graduate and go and face their real life hustle.

The UK schools will never keep you in school for up to that number of years without finding a solution on how to assist you one way or the other to just get out. Schools there are more interested in your future personal growth and development and not by passing one useless course or module that adds nothing.

Hi everyone, lemme go straight to the point.

I have a friend who graduated since 2016 in a federal university in the east and since then, up until now, she has been failing two particular courses; a year 3 and a year 4 course.

I adviced her to request for a remarking but she's scared to do so, according to her, what if she actually failed in which I told her it's practically impossible to fail a course for good 3 to 4 consecutive years to the extent of not even getting an "E"

To cut the long story short, according to her out of over a 100 students during her set, only less than 30 graduated!
Secondly, she didn't fail the two courses at once, it's either she fails one and the other gets missing or vice versa each consecutive year.

So guys, how do we solve this issue, is there any union or body that looks into issues like this? What would you advice us to do in this case undecided undecided
NB: she attends classes and has been paying school fees and dues all these years.

that is FUTO for you, if it is a school course nothing can be done but if it is departmental course, she should approach the lecturer for waiver.
Exactly what is "School Course" and "Departmental Course" ?

hnmm, wonder shall never end in this world. Na only in the east u dey talk about come to USMANU DANFODIYO UNIVERSITY, SOKOTO, especially there EDUCATION Department u go hear wen. the way dem dey suffer students for the department no be small. u go don graduate to collet your result na wahala, dem go dey tell you sey you fail one course wen u dey school after you don graduate go NYSC finish. My brother just tell her to go check her result if she dey sure of what she did and if she's not sure i no go lie to it will be very hard for her to scale through because she don becme a regular customer for the course be that or may be one LECTURER dey EYE her for the department wey she refused to gree foram. grin

she's done all that, including the HOD but they insist on resitting. My fear is that the result might not change again despite all her effort.

Oh Sociology and its a year 3 and 4 courses. Wow. I can actually guess the courses and codes. I studied Sociology and Anthropology in one of the best institution in the country. A very nice course

Similar problem am facing currently now,am supposed to graduate since 2017 and up till now my name is yet appear on the graduating list even the one released as of yesterday, i have done and submitted my project since,and even presented my seminar in school with my group...seriously am sick and tired of everything.
I have been giving excuses to my parents since but now i don't have anything else to tell them again.

Exactly what is "School Course" and "Departmental Course" ?

in FUTO there is General course, School Course and Departmental course.

General courses: They are done by the whole student irrespective of your School or department, it is mostly 100 level courses and few 200 level courses. eg. MTh 101, GST 101....

School Courses: FUTO is divided into 5 or 6 schools thereabout, we have S.E.ET = School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, there is SAAT= School of Agric..., there is SOCS = School of Sciences.... etc.
all this schools are governed by Deans and there are some courses everyone in each school must pass not minding your department (for the fact you are in a department in the school). for Engineering you must pass Thermodynamics, ODE,... etc

Departmental Courses: Are those courses owned by your department.
