I have a friend who graduated since 2016 in a federal university in the east and since then, up until now, she has been failing two particular courses; a year 3 and a year 4 course.

I adviced her to request for a remarking but she's scared to do so, according to her, what if she actually failed in which I told her it's practically impossible to fail a course for good 3 to 4 consecutive years to the extent of not even getting an "E"

To cut the long story short, according to her out of over a 100 students during her set, only less than 30 graduated!
Secondly, she didn't fail the two courses at once, it's either she fails one and the other gets missing or vice versa each consecutive year.

So guys, how do we solve this issue, is there any union or body that looks into issues like this? What would you advice us to do in this case
NB: she attends classes and has been paying school fees and dues all these years.

She has not tell you what you need to know. There is much more to what you mentioned below.

The Same Thing Happened to Me. When I Was In Nd2 i Had A Course Carry, i Came Back To Nd3 Paid School Did Assignment, attended Class, wrote The Exam, i Still Meet The Lecturer after Exam The Man Still Failed me. I Reported The Matter To School they Couldn't Do Anything, they Told Me to Come Write The Exam For The 3rd Time Again!

If she isn't sure she did well then let her continue to rewrite, but if she is certain then ask for a remark and if that's not granted report straight to the VC and later ministry of education. This may sound drastic but believe me it's possible. Two years wasted can't be gotten back forever.

Similar problem am facing currently now,am supposed to graduate since 2017 and up till now my name is yet appear on the graduating list even the one released as of yesterday, i have done and submitted my project since,and even presented my seminar in school with my group...seriously am sick and tired of everything.
I have been giving excuses to my parents since but now i don't have anything else to tell them again.

NOUN right? same thing happened to me, I was supposed to have graduated since 2017 too,I heard there is supplementary list, so fingers crossed.

NOC1:

in FUTO there is General course, School Course and Departmental course.

General courses: They are done by the whole student irrespective of your School or department, it is mostly 100 level courses and few 200 level courses. eg. MTh 101, GST 101....

School Courses: FUTO is divided into 5 or 6 schools thereabout, we have S.E.ET = School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, there is SAAT= School of Agric..., there is SOCS = School of Sciences.... etc.
all this schools are governed by Deans and there are some courses everyone in each school must pass not minding your department (for the fact you are in a department in the school). for Engineering you must pass Thermodynamics, ODE,... etc

Departmental Courses: Are those courses owned by your department.

Futo doesnt offer Sociology As a course so your guess is wrong.
I feel You though,ODE and thermo almost messed me up but God pass them,i left with My head held high.

Madam she has not graduated despite being part of 2016 set. She’s still writing carry over and not until she passes those two courses, she will not be referred to have graduated.

Let her go explain her predicament to the lecturers handling those courses. Who knows...

Not all course adviser get sense o... We do manually submit course reg in ma sch .... And a day was fixed for submission, then i was nt around... I went to ma course adviser who happens to collect the form... The second day.... I show him hospital card of our sch teaching hospital that i had appointment that why i didn't meet up.... Guess what he said.... Nigga said gerrout.... I said pls.. He repeat gerrout... I didn't talk was looking like zombie.... Guess what he did after few minutes.... He zoom off had to quickly remove ma leg make the werey no use tyre match me before them go admit me for the teaching hospital
Ps.. Most course adviser in federal university r very useless

Dear OP ,it’s not a spiritual problem neither is it a problem of lecturer whatsoever.
Tell your friend to attend classes,do assignments,write tests ,read the two courses as if her existence depends on it and I’m sure she will pass with ease. Just my one kobo opinion

They may have offended the lecturer in a way. I had same issue then; I failed a particular course from year two to final year. It was later I found out that I was accused of not buying the lecturer's textbook even though I did. It was our course rep who failed to write my name among those who paid for it. I kept scoring 15/100 every semester I sat for it.

This is most definitely Unizik, this is like a norm in the department of sociology.
Op your friend should either pray hard, visit the lecturer, take it up with higher authorities or probably get someone close to those lecturers to help her..

Am a victim as well from FUTA spent 8years for a 5year course because of just one 300L course from anoda school till date no certificate I left wen d frustration was too much.
