ChrisKels: Oga Ighalo's goals against Libya were no fluke. Go and rewatch his last goal in the 2nd leg then come back and tell me he's not a talented striker. Same goes for his goal against Cameroon in WC qualifying. Ighalo had to virtually create those beautiful goals from nothing. A Kelechi Iheanacho will never give you that in a thousand years. |

ChrisKels: Sorry to say this but only a darned fool will blame Ighalo for our loss to Croatia. A match in which Mikel Obi abandoned his position to play CM with Ndidi and Etebo thereby destroying the balance of our midfield. A match in which Moses was falling at the touch of every passing breeze and Iwobi was invisible. A match in which Uzoho's long passes were as useful as the "ueue" in "queue". How can you blame the top 9 for failing to score in such a situation?. When there is zero creativity, what can the striker do? Unless if you were expecting Ighalo to pick the ball from the SE goal post, dribble the entire 10 Croatian players and score. 3 Likes |

Curtisaxel7: All these excuses still played out against Iceland yet Musa was able to conjure something outta it. How about that for a food for thought? Thats the stuff strikers are made off. Only lazy strikers give more excuses than goals. No matter how poor our team played then, an Aghawonder or Garri Master( Ike Uche) would surely give u a goal or two. Wait oo, did u even watch Emmanuel Emenike in Eagles' shirt? Chai na vex u dey vex so, pele oo no cry I nugo? |

andrew444: In summary, what I can make off this post is a that Emenike wasnt special, buh, as poor as Emenike was, he still is better than Ighalo is and will ever be. Choi boy u wicked oo Oh so for ur mind, to win Afcon easy abi? The strikers u all shrine here, from Kanu, Utaka, Martins, Yakubu, Osaze et al, none of them smelled AFCON silver medal, let alone gold. None of dem ever came tops in the scoring chart of an Afcon throughout their playing careers, respectively, unlike Emenike. Emenike scored his goals with crap players like Ogude, Igiebor, Mba, Onazi playing as his midfielders, yet u are here making excuses for Ighalo that has the likes of Iwuobi, Mikel, Ndidi, Moses, in form Musa et al? |

ChrisKels: See just take it that ighalo will lead the line as a striker during this afcon Better go do fasting and prayer make e break leg Enjoy ighalo till rohr leaves You can talk from now till next year ,all those one wey you dey call your boys dem no go dey there . Emenike time don come and pass ,I will always tell you he is a good player ,I won't be bias like you . |

Earthquake2: Musa has none buh, we still know who is the boss. When all chips are down, legends emerge, Ighalo doesnt belong there, Musa does Remember the saying, the rougher the waves... In such cases, the likes of Ighalo get overwhelmed, while the less heralded Musas ensure the ship anchors unscathed. On this ground, I reiterate, Ighalo is a rope of sand. He is a big joke and is not worth that Eagles' top striker tag. |

andrew444: Hey you boy, u making the same mistake again. It is not cast in stone that Ighalo would be leading the lines. Remember, before the world cup, u said he owned the number 9, buh at the World Cup proper he turned out a bench warmer instead, hence making u a liar. |

All of you comparing the eagles of old to this present eagles are not serious. I'll prefer this present eagles to the old eagles because , the old ones are more of big players without good team play. what we have today is more of average players but can do wonder as a team, which is better as far as football is still a team sport. Look at the eagles of 2013 that won the AFCON, they won because they played as a team instead of individually that we usually have before. That is why we could afford not to have a Mikel and a Victor Moses in the qualifiers and still get superb result because they play as a team and don't rely on the big names. Have you ever wondered why Nigeria did not win anything serious after the AFCON 1994 and wonderful performance on the world cup the same year? it was because after the tournament , most of those guys became popular, went to big clubs and became bigger than the team, hence the ego clashes that happens all the time among the players. They started playing individually and not as a team. Have you ever wonder why the Las England squad at the world cup surpassed expectations and beat the performance of the Rooney, Lampard et al eras? it was because their game was more of a team play, rather than individual brilliance. You can bookmark this comment today. This present crop of guys will go far if they keep playing with the same team work mentality. 15 Likes 1 Share |

We(umunnekwu) dey always knack his community(Umuobiala) akpako whenever we jam dem for isuikwuato December league. I cant hate my own buh then I cant mince words to favour my own. Mbah was just a lucky boy with the Eagles, nothing special. That said, I still hate Pinnick till tomorrow for truncating Mba's European dreams. |

andrew444: Pinnick was the Delta State FA Chairman then, and was claiming ownership of Mba via Warri Wolves, whereas they already sold Mba to Rangers, tagging him a flop, before the Afcon not knowing Mba's fate had other plans. Luck smiled at him, he got selected by Keshi and shone at the Afcon to attract European suitors. Suddenly, Pinnick emerged outta blue claiming they didnt sell him outrightly to Rangers, causing an ownership tussle btwn dem and Rangers. That ownership tussle scared away many illustrious clubs that wanted him after that tourney, hence, leaving the boy wt scrubs. That thing still dey pain every soccer loving isuikwuato man till mrw. Even Southgate can testify to this, I guess he had an Epl club then, who really wanted the guy, buh for the tussle. |

Current form suggests that Liverpool should refrain from selling Taiwo Awoniyi to Schalke It remains to be seen whether the powerful striker will get a chance with Liverpool. Lee Clarke The Boot Room Liverpool progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup last night by thrashing Bury 5-1 at Gigg Lane. The win served to remind people that the Reds have an extensive conveyor belt of talent coming through the ranks. In 2015, Liverpool landed highly-rated 18-year-old Taiwo Awoniyi from the Imperial Soccer Academy. Since then the Nigerian-born striker has learned his trade during a series of loan spells away from Anfield. Recently Sky Sports have reported that Awoniyi is attracting interest from Schalke who are willing to part with £10 million to secure his services. Liverpool’s hands have been tied with regards to Awoniyi going out on loan. He is yet to make his Reds debut due to issues with receiving a work permit. That could change in the future, however, and Liverpool should think very carefully over severing ties with the forward. Currently, Awoniyi is on loan in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with Mouscron. It is easy to see why links are being made over a big-money move away from Anfield given his current form. The 21-year-old has netted six goals during his first seven games for the club, showcasing a serious eye for goal. Schalke might want to part with £10 million for the youngster, but Liverpool should hang fire just yet. His work permit situation could change in the future and Awoniyi is showing that he deserves an Anfield opportunity. 1 Like |
