the real landlords of Lagos

Lagos is a no man's land
Oba of Lagos is just a criminal political puppet planted by Tinubu the bastard drug dealing vagabond

It is not the Igbo's that caused this trend. My grandmother told me years ago that in the past when the old Lagos Yoruba people built their small houses as was the status quo then, they invited their relatives to come settle near them. When building the actual structures, they asked them to build closer to their own to emphasize the bond of friendship and love. It was common practice then to open your window and peer into your brother's room in the morning. Another reason was that there were bushes and wild animals around and it was easier to defend the properties close together.

Unfortunately, they never imagined that their land would become prime commercial property and that multi-storeyed buildings would become necessary in the same area.

Why are these buildings in Borno Way, Ebute Metta, Lagos so close to each other?

They are so close that someone in a room on one of the upper floors can extend his hand to collect salt, of his lips to collect a kiss, from another person in the other building.

There are reasons why buildings should not be this close. From privacy issues to fire incidents. Or in case one of the buildings collapses.

They can even watch football matches in case the other person doesn't have cable TV

Yes, it should be demolished. According to the laws set up by the government and other stakeholders in the construction industry, there should be a minimum of 3m at the sides and back of the house to the boundary line while the front should be 6m
[/s]

You should go and quote the law to them at your dirty region!

Canadian government should look into this.
Pls we are talking of two buildings somewhere in Lagos. Looking at the closeness between the two buildings in question, in the case of fire incident or building collapse, the other building must be involved.

This is one of the reasons why the growth of your region as remained stunted. Children of hate... Millions of your children are enjoying free education here in Lagos why hundred of thousand of them are here selling gala and bottle water in the traffic.

Pls don't commit suicide, the indigenous people of Badagry, Epe & Eti-Osa will not allow the children doom to rule in their homeland.

Seriously didn't know the madness has reached there..
It's quite funny if you ask for the landlord of the building they will ask you for which floor..

Does that make it right?

Also, are you putting in place the same safety standards like them?

You’ll find buildings this close in first world countries, The call should be for the government to check these structures.

Fire? That shit can engulf an estate.

This is good now. In San Francisco it is wall to wall. It is the structures that matters.

I didn't actually intend that to be rude. Just a jokeundecided

On d note, I think if d architectural integrity of d houses are sound, there's nothing to worry about.

Being close to each other is not an issue but what matters is structural integrity of each building.
Re: These Houses In Ebute Metta Are Too Close To Each Other (pictures) by nextstep(m): 9:29pm On Mar 15, 2019
That's not the issue... lots of buildings around the world are close, and some even join an entire block of houses together...

Before you rent any house please invest an engineer to inspect the house. If the owner isnt living there ,then u v every reason to investigate even the foundation and the type of iron rods used plus number of cement bags

yes, for security reasons this is the best way to build a neighbourhood. Most houses built in Nigeria are overkill, most one story building do not have re-enforcement bro. Sometimes we read 2much meanings into things.
PS: hope you have seen the post and pictures up there!

The amount of money and Energy needed to carry out this inspection would be sufficient in building ur own house if need be!
