horpeyemmi66:What are the steps one must take to cross frm BDS to MBBS in UI? |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Nobody: 1:05pm On Mar 22, 2019 |
DrOptimistic:You can't cross from a professional course to another professional course in UI college of medicine. That is true fact. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by horpeyemmi66(m): 2:29pm On Mar 22, 2019 |
DrOptimistic:As AnEsThAsiA has rightly stated, one simply cannot cross in between two professional courses. If you get in for Medicine, you'd stick to it till the very end. This same thing applies to Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy(although in a different Faculty) and Physiotherapy. Now, again, you can cross from Physiology, especially, to Medicine...closest dude to Medicine. Physiology can also cross to Physiotherapy, Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science. Biochemistry has an upper hand at crossing to Pharmacy due to a similarity in the courses offered in 100L(although they cross to Medicine too). They, in most instances have to get their HOD to let them go, the man doesn't always feel obliged to let them go. For Physiology to cross to Medicine or Dentistry, they don't have to add any other courses to what they'd be registering for the session. As the only courses which differ in what Medicine and Physiology guys do in 100L is Botany. If one is looking to cross from Physiology to Physiotherapy(most stressful course in the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan), then they'd have to add courses like Statistics and Sociology when registering. If one is looking to cross from Physiology to Pharmacy, then they'd have to add Mathematics to the courses they'd be registering for the session. If one is looking to cross from Physiology to Medical Laboratory Science, then one has to add Mathematics as well. If one is looking to cross from Physiology to Nursing, then one has to add Sociology to the courses they'd be registering for the session. *All interdepartmental crosses have to be done on transit to 200L, beyond which the only things that may apply are deferrment(not beyond a session), withdrawal and voluntary withdrawal inter alia. *Crossing from medical Laboratory Science to Physiology and vice versa is very possible. *University of Ibadan doesn't give a Bachelor's degree in Human Anatomy, hence its absence in the above discourse. (Postgraduate Studies are however available) *University of Ibadan doesn't give a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacology, hence its absence in the above discourse. (Postgraduate studies are however available) *Crossing depends largely on general performance and a post determined crossing CGPA. Disclaimer: The University of Ibadan is a very dynamic institution. Hence, all of the information above are subject to change or could have changed as at the time of your reading this post. Please be guided. 5 Likes |

On medical schools, any accredited medical school is ok. Med is all about personal development. You can't be a good doc with just what you were given in training and to the best of my knowledge, no accredited med school has bad lecturers/instructors. They will give you the basic stuffs needed to improve upon. On accredited med schools, it's beyond MDCN website. First hand info on such status are gotten from individual schools. To simplify it, any school admitting, promoting and graduating students seemlessly is accredited. Lastly, practising license bears no institution names. Once you're licensed, you are certified to legally do what a doctor is allowed to do within the ambit of the law 7 Likes 1 Share |

LastingLucky:As for University of Ibadan, I haven't seen any school in the whole of this country that is as transparent as her...I tell you this in all sincerity. If you got what it takes, face UI. If you merit it, University of Ibadan would admit you without any issues. University of Ilorin, if you are a Muslim and from Ilorin... Please go ahead. Ebonyi state University, I know nothing about the school or her processes OOU, do you have huge amount of cash to spend, studying Medicine at Ago Iwoye doesn’t come easy without enough financial backup LASU, if you're not a lagosian and do not have a long leg, please, stay away. I know someone who had 324 in the UTME last year, chose LASU, if only LASU would offer him admission tomorrow. My 1cent Bruv! 4 Likes |

awesomedammy:Your question seems somehow, Anyways in Medical school sometimes you'd have to draw. Your drawing doesn't have to be as beautiful as the one in the textbook, it should come close at least. The diagram, say for example: femoral triangle in Anatomy should show the boundaries, roof, floor and contents, you have your marks already. You don't only get to draw the human body, you'd also draw charts, graphs(eg O2-Hb dissociation curve in Physiology), schemes and pathways(you have loads of them in Biochemistry)...you don't have to be Pablo Picasso to draw in Medical school. Whatever you draw, ensure it has a semblance to the original thing. Ps: If you get to draw the Pancreas ensure you draw a Pancreas and not a Pistol. Yours! 8 Likes |

LastingLucky:I think UI and UNILORIN will be a good to try. I can say of them because I know of friends who did their DE to the schools after they have finished their first degree. I wrote an article on it where I shared the success story of a friend who is now a medical doctor. He had 2.1 B.Sc. in Human Nutrition and did DE to UI to study medicine and surgery. Medical related courses to study Medicine |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by horpeyemmi66(m): 6:32pm On Mar 24, 2019 |
LastingLucky:University of Ibadan does not take DE in Microbiology. They even prefer guys with A Levels than those with first degrees, whatever the rationale behind that is, I do not know. My advice be very tactful in how you go about actualizing the Medicine-dream, you don't want to be doing tombo-tombo. Why don't you look up north? Unimaid, ABU, Unijos, Uniabuja, BUK, UDUSOK?? |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by pabostt: 9:05pm On Mar 24, 2019 |
horpeyemmi66:Udusok does not take DE for MBBS. I know that UI loves A-level guys, as some of the students I thought at EAC are now studying medicine in UI. However, a graduate from a recognised university who study medical related course approved by UI with a good grade may be offered admission t study MBBS. As I said above, I have friends who did DE to UI after graduation and were offered admission to study medicine. 1 Like |
