I believe the criticism forced the stadium managers to improve the stadium. They had two extra days to work on it. It has obviously been mowed so some work took place.

No one is saying, it is perfect but it was more playable.

How could they have achieved that in 48hrs when the Super Eagles, dream team, Libya and even Egypt have been training on same pitch over the weekend.

Are you sure that's Hudson odoi?

If that twitter account isn't verified then it's not him
Do you know that his account is unverified. Sterling jokingly mocked him about it.
However, tbaba has clarified my doubt by posting his real Account. It's not his Twitter account.

Nigeria played on Friday so they most likely did not train on Saturday so only the under 23 used the pitch on saturday. It does not take more than 1-2 hours to mow the pitch.

it doesn't matter where he plays. Iwobi plays for Arsenal and yet he's nowhere near Tau's level

It takes more than just mowing to get a pitch ready. I have seen a documentary about how LA Liga grounds men take care of their playing turf to suit the Liga standard.

Trust me, it is a very tedious job which requires days if not weeks to get the job up to speed with the set-out standards and within this period, the pitch will not host any games or training sessions.

But if you say the Asaba stadium was a lawn mow away from being good, who am I to disagree with you sir?

I do not believe they replaced the pitch. They simply performed routine maintenance.

The stadium is definitely not on the level of the ones, you are talking about. It was simply more playable not perfect.

the great Pele never played in Europe or the Champions league but is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time. It doesn't match where you player but what you can do on the field of play. I've seen a lot of average players play in the premiership, series A, etc

Pele won the WC at 17 years and again in 1970. He proved himself at the world stage. What exactly has Tau done??

Quality does not hide. If Tau is that good, we will know when he steps up.

there's a general consensus in Nigeria that Iwobi is good and what has he ever done except to play for Arsenal?

I watched the game yesterday and we dint play that bad, our keeper also made a mistake but the libyans only had two shot on goal even after we went 1 man down... We can win the return leg definitely its just the margin that would be a big issue.. Remember this is the first time the team played together its was obviously going to be difficult.. I see people saying we played badly far from that we had more possesion we dominated the midfield we were not able to break their defence line because the defended deep... But at home am certain that we could whoop their asses by 4 four goals or more...

Shey i talk am say we go win ....

Bros, I no dey defend corruption. But in this case, Sanusi goffed big time. His initial statement was that $47B was missing. Later he said it was $20B. Pwc audit report directed NNPC and NDPC to refund $1.48 to the federal government over unreconciled transactions.

The whole circus and stunt by Sanusi and Obasanjo was to discredit the Johnathan administration for their political inclination. Newspaper editors in the pocket of the big boys latched on the story and wiped up sentiments from the masses who know little to nothing about how government agencies work.

A guy at a newspaper stand was so convinced that Nnpc and Diezani misappropriated $100b.

#barryseal

I do not understand what you are arguing. It was a fact that about $20 Billion dollars was gone from our crude revenue by members of the NNPC without appropriation. A fact.

Stop trying to defend it with the idea it was done to tarnish GEJ's administration. It was after the Emir Sanusi's debacle that the NNPC members started giving excuses of how they spent the money.

The question is, did they have the right to spend about $20 billion without appropriation? No they did not.

Emir Sanusi did not do it to tarnish the image of GEJ. It was a memo he sent to GEJ's office that got leaked. A memo asking GEJ to stop the humongous corruption taking place under GEJ's nose.

That memo got leaked.

No disrespect sir, but I am rather inclined to believe a reputable internationally acclaimed auditing firm like Pwc than your street talk of a missing $20b.

I think you're stretching this talk about routine maintance and lawn mowers too much to defend poor display by the senior national team.
This was from a training session before the Seychelles match.

That pitch looks no different than the one I saw today. Let's not be afraid to hold our team accountable for poor display.
Such disposition breeds mediocrity.

PWC Report on Audit of the NNPC

I have gone through the report and wish to comment as follows;

With respect to the audit approach and procedures used by the audit firm, they carried out their work in line with international acceptable standards of auditing. Hence, the work done was of high quality and in line with best practice despite the auditee-imposed obstacles.

Overview of their findings;

beyond what was reported in the media which I will say it's just a minute fraction of the startling revelations contained in the report, I have dug out other salient and critical weaknesses or gaps from the report which I will share with you.

In order not to bore you friends, I will be very brief and straight to point.

The auditors were starved of information during the course of the investigation. Definitely, a deliberate attempt by the auditee to frustrate the exercise. This was mentioned in all their limitations page.

NPDC the exploration and production arm of the NNPC did not submit its financial accounts for audit-page 13

NNPC enabling act gives it power to spend money without limit or control-page 16

NNPC sells DPK to bulk marketers in Nigeria at N40.90/liter as against ex-depot and regulated price of N34.51k/liter- page 18

NNPC sold its 55% interests in 8 OMLs to NPDC at an under valued amount of $1.85b. Out of this only $100m was paid by the buyer. By the auditors valuation using market basis, the actual value of the blocks should be $3.4b-page 22

NNPC does not have records of crude oil sales leading to variances in the records page 51

$13.673b being revenue from sale of domestic crude oil not remitted by the NNPC to federation accounts-page 57

Two different prices used by the NNPC to value crude oil lifted or sold. The price used to value the one going to government is lower than price paid by off-takers page 58

DPK subsidy claim over stated by $40m by the PPRA- page 71

PMS subsidy over stated by $36.05m by the PPRA- page 72

DPK subsidy over charged by $203.54m by the NNPC- page 73

Friends, these are just few of other salient findings in the report. I just hope the president-elect will call for a thorough probe to unravel other "mysteries" cleverly hidden by this rotten NNPC group and bring the perpetrators to book.

The same report showed Sanusi was wide off the mark from the $47b~20b he alleged. The unreconciled discripacy was about $1.48B which they prompted NNPC and NDPC to remmit. $1.48b and $47~20b claimed by Sanusi is what you call close? It appears you don't have a keen eye for detail.
The Pwc report is a public document which I have posted the compete audit and even in possession of the pdf.

Stop trying to be trickish and get the simple point.

NNPC gave excuses of what they did with the money after the debacle. Claiming they spent it on frivolous things like the kerosene subsidy.

It was after that Pwc said they should still return about a whooping $1.5 Billion.

The question is, did they have the right to make those expenses they were claiming they did without appropriation? No they did not.

Simple. Stop trying to defend corruption.

For those interested, see https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/182926-missing-20-bn-sanusi-faults-alison-madueke-says-audit-report-proves-at-least-18-5bn-lost.html

From the article above.

In an opinion article published by the Financial Times of London, Mr. Sanusi, who is now the Emir of Kano, said the argument that the outstanding amount was used by the NNPC for apparently unlawful purposes such as kerosene subsidy, does not dismiss the notion that the NNPC illegally withheld billions of oil dollars from the government.

“Contrary to the claims of petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, the audit report does not exonerate the NNPC. It establishes that the gap between the company’s oil revenues between January 2012 and July 2013 and cash remitted to the government for the same period was $18.5bn,” Mr. Sanusi said.

The former CBN governor said of the $18.5bn in revenues that the state oil company did not send to the government according to PwC, “about $12.5bn appears by my calculations to have been diverted”.
