Here is my Transcript for my F1 Visa interview today at the US embassy

VO: Good morning and pass me your password and your i-20

ME: Good morning (Passing my passport and my i-20

VO: (typing and looking at her computer) what year did you finish your secondary school

ME: (I was feeling she asked the wrong question because while filling my forms I didn't include my secondary education) I finished my secondary school education in the year bla bla bla.

VO: After your secondary education what do you do?

ME: I gained admission to study Mechanical Engineering from bla bla bla and after gaining my National Diploma certificate, I started my HND in the same Mechanical Engineering course and I graduated in 2018.

VO: Sorry your Visa has been denied.... Try again later.

I actually applied to go and have an Associate of Science degree in the US, I used my HAND to apply when filling the form. but after the whole interview I finally realized that the secondary education she was referring to was suppose to mean the year I graduated from my HND and not secondary school. So am I answered the wrong answer to her question.

But I want to re apply... I won't give up.

She was right for denying you. For God's sake why will you finish HND 2018 and be going for an OND which is equivalent to associate of science degree in US. Doesn't make any single sense. Apply for masters and try again

Hi Bro.. seems you are turning into the new Twoods on this thread. While you are actually saying the truth, you are saying at the wrong time and maybe to a wrong person. Information is power, if you were in his/her shoe with HND degree, you will understand better. Now that the OP has stumbled upon this thread with lot of information, I assure you the OP will not remain the same.

To the OP, your HNd qualify you for a Masters in the US. That way, you will be sure you are doing the right thing and can continue to reapply for your VISA.

Bros, but which one be Associate of Science degree na? Also, which University gave u d admission? How many schools did u apply to?

Your secondary school is secondary school, except you didn't hear d person well.

U we're denied based on your credentials alone. It has nothing to do with the question. The question na make e no be say Dem no ask u anything.

Don't go n reapply o. Give us a better picture of things, I am sure a lot more people will contribute.

Bro, you should have figured out that, VO actually denied you visa because you apply for Associate degree while you surppose to go for Master Degree. You have assocate Degree which is ND and HND that is equivalent to USA bachelor degree. Why cant you apply for Msc ?. Stop wasting money for now and get your self associated with admission and visa gurus who will advise of what to do.

The OP is one of the many fraustrated HND graduates. US is the only country that accept us directly for a Masters. But you will never know until you stumble upon this kind of thread or meet with people from this thread. The reason for applying to associate degree is because he doesn't even know that its possible to go directly for a Masters. Now that he stumbled upon this thread, I assure you he/she will never remain the same.

I also hold the same degree and I am looking forward to study in the US. Got admitted for Msc in more than four different universities. The Visa is a different issue on it's own.

Well atimes you need to scold some so that they will get it right fast. He might be blaming the V.O for denying him while the V.O is actually saving him from wasting money and his precious time. The associate degree is just like repetition of what he has already studied. When scolded, he will see his wrong and put more effort to get it right. It's not everytime you use soft words.

My HND is in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Power Plant Option) while the Associate of science degree I am going for in the US is in Aviation Maintenance Technician.

Does it mean I can't use HND in mechanical engineering to apply for the Associate of science degree in the Aviation Maintenance Technician course?

I applied for the Associate of science degree in another field, that's the Aviation Maintenance field.

My HND is in Mechanical ...

So does it mean I cannot use my HND certificate in mechanical engineering to apply for an Associate of science degree in Aviation Maintenance Tech?

Aviation maintenance is under mechanical engineering, you can do masters in it. Secondly are you working in aviation firm, why doing masters in that area? Try and do courses you can form home ties with.

Brother ! This is not a matter of not given up (according to your last sentence), because if you go ahead and apply with this kind of information provided in this transcript am very sorry you may still come back and say this word again " I won't give up"
What is really important now is getting it done the right way like the gurus have advised you.

The bitter truth is that you have been running your account years now and you have never visited this particular thread before, though you have been very active on other thread in which you yourself know this. If you have visited this thread before even before starting your processing you would have gotten all the necessary information you will need to prepare for your Visa. Because, psychologically, with what am seeing here it is very apparent you are just reading this thread for the first time. I guess you were not aware that this thread exist right?

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I do feel somehow when I see someone applicants rushing to Visa processing/interview without coming here to learn(because Honestly this thread it's self is an institution of learning) after their denial they will now locate here by force to find out what went wrong in their first attempt. At the same time I don't blame them anyways, because we all cannot get things right at the first attempt ,we will always have one thing or the other that will serve as lesson to others which will enable others to prepare very well.

God bless the person that created this thread and God bless everyone that has been contributing to this thread .

My brother I will urge you to gather all the necessary information here and prepare very hard to get your visa at the second attempt.

Truly Knowledge is Power!

Cheers!

Please I need help. I was giving admission and I like to pay for my admission letter courier. The problem is that the courier service used by the school don't accept card payment by Nigeria unless I do a wire transfer or PayPal but the wire do take time and I don't have a PayPal account. Please I need help to overcome this.. It's 105$

Why do you have to pay so much to receive your admission letter? Most schools send a copy via email as well as a hard copy. If your school sent you an admission letter via email, you can print it out and use it for your visa interview or for whatever purpose you need it for. Spending $105 to send your admission letter via courier isn't financially prudent, unless you do not have an email copy.

Well 105$ is really expensive even DHL charges around 65$(23,400) per delivery to Naija ,Schools rarely send admission letters /1-20’s via mail anymore, they now have a law against that( Federal regulations prohibit electronic delivery of the I-20).the best they can do for u is to send the school code and ur sevis ID sir. Hi guys I think we should create a thread for students in the diaspora (USA) to share their experiences, informations and general conversations like how they are surviving in the USA etc. I believe a thread of its own would be beneficial to everyone. What do you all think?

You're not totally correct. Timottee mentioned only the admission letter which I believe all schools post on their application portal available for download or some schools do send email for admission notification. So he was totally right!
Then you get your admission package (i20, hard copy of admission letter, school brochure etc) via mail, this is what you pay for. You don't pay for just the admission letter to be mailed to Nigeria.
