Hi Guys,

I have read all the comments (at least most of them) on POF but I haven't found anyone similar to mine.
My spouse is the principal applicant, he is self employed at the moment and has the amount for POF in his business account. Although he didn't claim points for his current Job as self-employed in an established business, only points from his previous Job as he had worked there for 5 years and getting reference from them is not an issue. The amount in his personal account is not up to the required amount for a family of 2, it's less than 50%. He just got a major business deal that would yield significant profits and has to use the money in his business account for that.
On the other hand I have all the money we would need for POF in my bank account and fixed deposit (microfinance bank as their rates are higher than Tbills).
I have read that i could get an affidavit for money in my account but I'm not 100% sure how that would play out.
So my question is:

1. Can I use my fixed deposit which is 4 months old plus my bank statement and write LOE or Affidavit?
2. or should I just liquidate and transfer all the money to his account (my problem with this is the money will have to sit in his account throughout the process of this Canada application and not yield profits). Plus what documents will I/he need to explain this large sum credited into his account.

Is there anyone with a similar experience or does anyone know somebody that had this same story.
Gurus in the house epp oo
Thanks in advance.
If you have the POF, no need complicating matters. Provide your account statement for him to use as POF. Then write a letter stating that the money is available to the PA for use in as settlement funds in Canada. You don't need to liquidate

in all my research on their behalf, their best bet is AIPP and Saskatchewan PNP. i know one has to get a job offer to get AIPP nomination, but that's how far my research has been. please make una help me look into this.
You no longer need a job to get Alberta PNP. They've opened it up.

Wow. So can WES evaluate a CIMA certificate to another degree. Which short course or certification can someone with a bsc degree in history and diplomacy studies do to get the two degree or more points?
Yes WES evaluates CIMA positively. You can do CIMA (or any one you like) the course you studied doesn't matter

I have bsc and I was advised to try and add a certification. I want to apply for cipm before evaluating my cert on wes. But this is the catch cipm is in 3 stages. Can I just do stage 1 and evaluate the stage 1 cipm cert with my bsc and the rest. Pls house come to my aid house

Everyone. Etc etc

Do not get confused, please take it one step at a time.

You have to write and pass the 3 stages of the CIPM exam before the body can process your transcript

Just put it under "Organization" or if you are more comfortable with "Employment", do it this way:

Sportswriter (volunteer, part-time) - Employment - XYZ Blogging Company.

nelronaldo:

Thank you, there is no contract agreement or official letter to this voluntary work. It is a completely unofficial stuff. I started doing it after graduation because I was bored at home and I continued doing it after i got a job because i loved football. So the activity required me to write football contents for a friend who is working in a local blogging company at my own convenience without any financial reward. I am not so sure if the blogging company knew I was the one developing the contents sef, even if they knew, I wasn't recognised by them.
The issue is I made a mistake by including it in my CV i sent to two US schools that I wrote for the blog for the period I engaged in the activity. I just don't know how far CIC background checks go. If I hadn't included it in any of my CVs, I wouldn't bother including it.
I am just making sure I don't make mistake in this application.

Hi. It is 409 because you selected Bachelors degree as your highest level of education. Just below that you'd see the "two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees..." option. WIth that, your CRS score should be a little above 440 which isn't bad. You may also wish to boost your chances at getting an ITA by having your spouse complete her/his ECA or IELTS
Can somebody with only Bsc choose 2 or more certificates?

Fellow housemates (hahhahaha), I'm kinda ready to submit the application and my heart is doing 'gbish gbish'. The only explanation I have is my POF and that was just to help the processing officer do the maths.

I uploaded the same ref letter in the placeholder for all the job titles (5 different JDs) cos it's from the same employer and I got only one letter. Is this okay?

My optional document folder is empty as I no get anything to explain.

Perhaps I should go to bed.

Yes, it’s okay. Different JDs can be written in one reference letter. Take some time tomorrow to go through your documents one last time and then click that Submit button. Happy AOR! grin

Hi Stencil. You're right. Thanks for pointing that out. The Statutory question does not specify a period as it would have included the phrase, "....in the last 10 years...." just as we have in the Personal History and Address History sections. Please check if there's the ? tool tip beside each statutory question. If there's a tip there, what does it say?

"Has Mr. X ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada or any other country?" Since a period was not specified by IRCC, this means "throughout Mr X's life", has he ever been refused a visa? Emphasis on the word - "ever".

I think we missed it with @prex29. Visa refusals are not limited to the last 10 years, neither can they be declared in any History sections of the application except the Statutory Questions section.

cc: @prex29, @Ifeoma77

@ Topsmamen....what if I answered YES to the visa refusal question, and further stated that I have been refused a U.S Student Visa and Tourist visa without any explanation on reasons for refusal, and submitted without uploading the refusal letter. Hope CIC won't investigate further by asking the Embassy why I was refused? I submitted my application for PR 2 weeks ago, and I'm planning to raise CSE to inform CIC about the acquisition of my company by another company, dunno if i should seize the opportunity to give reasons for the U.S visa refusal, and attach the refusal letter together with documents from my new company..Thanks....Gurus in the house please contribute. God bless!

Hello bro, here is a clearer picture.

In October 2015, an ex school mate of mine and his friend decided to venture into blogging and I volunteered to support him with football contents at my own convenience and I did that on a part time basis until January 2018. As at 2015 the company wasn't registered and I didn't know because my ex school mate was not so open about the details of the blogging company and I didn't care either because I was just doing what I like. I was just doing it the same way I come to nairaland to create a topic and post online.

However, sometime last year, after I stopped creating contents for him, he told it was a registered company and that I could include it in my CV if I am job hunting. So I used it in a CV I submitted to a US school, stating I wrote articles for the blogging company from 2015 to 2018 because I was applying to a program that requires good writing skills.

A fortnight ago, I just checked up the company on CAC's public search and I found out this company was registered in March 2017; more than one year after I started writing for him, meaning at the time I started helping him with contents, they weren't registered.

Fortunately and Unfortunately for me, I didn't include the blog company when filling my US Visa application ahead of the Visa interview, I only used it in the CV I submitted to the school to secure my admission.

Now how do I tell CIC I did voluntary activity somewhere from October 2015 till Jan 2018, when the company wasn't even registered till March 2017.

Also I can't add it to employment because I wasn't employed by the company and I have no official documentation to that effect. Even if I was employed, a company which was registered in 2017 can't employ someone in 2015.

In addition, there was no contract stipulating I was doing a voluntary service, it was just me who verbally offered to help him, when he told me about his plans to go into blogging.

In my US Visa application I submitted to the US embassy, the blog company isn't part of my work history and I also stated that I haven't engaged in any voluntary activity.

I feel more comfortable removing it entirely so as not to contradict my US Visa application. I am only worried about this because I have read here that Permanent Residency background check is thorough and I don't know if the check would get to the extent of demanding my CV from the US school I applied to.

Good day everyone please I have this very important question to ask.

When is the best time to raise a cse? I am post AOR and Pre-MEP. I just remembered that there is a job I did for one month and few days while as a student in the UK that I forgot to include in my personal history . It was during my masters degree. That period had already been covered automatically with my education when I got to the personal history part so while filling the form, I just concentrated on the dates that haven't been covered yet. That was how I forgot to put that job.

Also, are there people who omittee jobs that they did for one, two, three weeks ? Cos there are a few that I can't remembee their exact periods but it was after studies. Should there be any cause for concern over this?

And please, is it just me that is having issues with login into my application?

This is why context is important. You did not specify that your CV was with a US school not a US government.

And it also appears that you have already made a decision and is just looking for reinforcement.

You can choose not to add it. Since it didn't appear before in the US immigration application. Info-sharing is between the Canadian and US governments.

If you decide to include it, it will be under "Organization", volunteer.

3. Check IRCC Twitter handle, it appears they are aware of the log in issues.

Express Entry Awareness

I got to know about EE mid 2016 via a Facebook comment. I quickly inboxed the commenter and that was how it all begun.
After several correspondence, she told me they used an agent CANREACH and strongly adviced I used them too. I didn’t know anyone else who had gone through EE neither did I know of platforms such as this. I relied solely on whatever info she gave me and called the agent. To cut a long story short, I had the pay the agent over N500,000. After payment, they sent a mail on things I had to do such as IELTS, ECA, PCCs, Medicals and so on. Prior to payment the agent never mentioned it neither did my Facebook contact.

I later realized my Facebook contact was just a dependant spouse who knew next to nothing about what EE actually entails. My contract with the agent was valid for only 2 years and by the time I was finally ready to apply I have become very informed, I didn’t trust the agent anymore (they became lackadaisical plus too many stories of people complaining about agents needing more money and not giving them access to their application) and the 2 years agreement was almost up. To avoid any stories, I decided to handle my application myself. So, that was how I lost over N500,000.

ECA

After I opened an account with WES and paid for transcript, my school said they couldn’t find my file at all shocked. That means they have nothing with which to prepare my transcript. This dragged for months. My contact kept calling me saying she’s trying but my department insists that my file doesn’t exist. My dear mum got tired of it all and decided to travel down to my school herself to enquire how after spending over 5 years doing a 4-year course, going for NYSC and even PGD, her daughter’s entire file suddenly disappeared. Lo and behold, barely 3 days after my mum show face my file was automatically found.
In the end, I got my 2 or more degrees evaluation.

IELTS

I was quite confident in my English ability but still I studied. The resources I used were ieltsliz, ieltsbuddy and futurelearn. I found ieltsliz especially helpful for listening and reading. Futurelearn really helped for writing.

ITA-AOR-Medicals

I declined my first ITA because my passport had less than 6 months validity. I made the mistake of going to Ikoyi for renewal and even paid for express, only to be told there was no booklet.
Second ITA came and I was determined not to decline. I submitted my passport as it was and then raised a CSE after I eventually got the renewed one. 2 weeks later I passed medicals and In my mind I was thinking I go soon get PPR. Little did I know that AVO had other plans for me and that was how the 9 months long wait started.

After months of uncertainty, ordering 2 GCMS notes, raising 3 CSEs, signing several petitions and going through a roller coaster of emotions, AVO finally broke their silence. An interview invite!

Interview

My interview was scheduled to hold 14th February in Accra. I was asked to come with just about everything pertaining to my application. Even the job I got after AOR which I didn’t inform IRCC of, I decided to take my employment letter and payslips along. On the interview day, I intentionally got there few minutes before so I won’t have to wait for long but I didn’t get called in till over an hour later. I submitted my documents at the reception.

The interviewer told me the purpose of the interview was to determine my eligibility. All of my documents were thoroughly checked (I arranged them in an orderly manner using office clips but when I entered the interview room, they were all spread out on a table). It turned out that they needed to be absolutely certain of my marital status and that I understood the implication. I applied as married but life happened and I became separated which I informed IRCC of along with the necessary document. The questions were mostly personal and the interviewer wanted to be sure that POF was still intact.

In the end, I was told that I passed the interview cheesy and I would be issued a remedicals request as the one I applied with already expired. My interviewer also said that due to the peculiarity of my case, a meeting with another colleague (abi their boss) was necessary but that I definitely will be getting an ADR before PPR can be issued.

Immediately I stepped out of the premises I switched on my phone and remedicals request was waiting inbox. For those of us at AVO (especially those who got interviewed), remedicals request is to PPR what John the Baptist is to Jesus. Right there and then I knew all is well. After walking aimlessly for some minutes out of excitement, I took a cab to a Chinese restaurant and gave myself a treat. Mama I’ve made it!

Almighty PPR!

The following day while I was preparing to check out of the hotel, my phone beeped and it was the ADR my interviewer talked about. Few minutes later while I was talking excitedly on the phone about the receipt of ADR, dearest PPR gallantly came in.

I was relieved. I was excited. I was weak. I felt like I was floating. I really can’t describe exactly how I felt.

Remedicals

On getting back to Nigeria, I struggled to get remedicals done. Qlife was booked till April and they couldn’t squeeze me in while IOM said the earliest they could do for me was first week of March. I decided to write to Accra asking for an extension but after all the suffer when I don suffer, I really did not want to extend anything. That was how I came across @Hobyno offering his Qlife slot to someone who was also looking for an early date but fortunately the date was too soon for her grin. I quickly went inbox to beg him for the slot and he graciously agreed.

Once again, THANK YOU @Hobyno.

Two days later, as at 6:04am I was already at Qlife for my medicals. Before 10am I was done and headed straight to VFS for passport submission.

My brethren na so o like joke like joke, my dream turned reality before my very eyes.

My journey was a long and bumpy one but las' las', na God win. grin
