There seem to be contrasting reports with the amount that was declared.
...initial report yesterday clearly stated a 22k payment until this morning when it was replaced with a financial print showing a 100% cut down to 11k.
Now that's not a good sign. ...given that it sends all the wrong coperate governance signals along with it, whether deliberate or not.
That said, there is NO need to panic. ...FIDELITY declared a great result over the course of 2018.
So it remains a HOLD for me irrespective of the amount declared.
Especially if ur in it for the mid to long term.

Btw, the bank will be holding a conference call on Monday.
..[s].hopefully they'll clarify the stakeholders on what is actually the proposed amount as dividend declared.
[/s]

Regards.

Right. At least the results were good, it remains Mr. Market to respond positively to it at the right time.

Welcome back my dear !!

But unfortunately, the link failed to give the needed clarity on what is indeed the ACTUAL amount declared by the bank.
While I agree that the 11k pay is now the likely of the 2, the content of the heading; "clarification on dividend information for 2018 financial year" is at best a misfit with information dessimination.
Needles to say that the banks company Secretary needs to get some tutorial on proper and effective journalism.

In summary, the write up simply told us that the 11k which was put out this morning is less than the 22k which was declared last night. ...without categorically pointing to which one of the 2 should indeed be expected.
It's just like telling a student that X is less than Y after supplying him with valuations stipulating that X= 11 and Y= 22.
I think it's only a blind student who needs to be told that !!

Like I said before; It's not a good sign. ...given that it sends all the wrong coperate governance signals with it, whether it was indeed deliberate or not.
Since the direct source for both values was from the bank, they will have to answer to some questions on this during the conference call on Monday. Even if nothing eventually changes, at least they'll be more careful next time.

Regards.

No matter how the price will still drop below your targeted average price (not a guru advise but a school 2 advise)
But there are some stock that I don't think it worth average down unless it get to final bus stop.

20b in loans. A lot in foreign denominated currency. It should be approached with caution.

Exactly!

All it takes is another naira to dollar loss in value, and they are bleeped!

You are quite smart. grin

Caverton pay 25 kobo dividend, May 7, qualification date.
Close at 2.49 EPs of 1.27
2.49/1.27 = 1.96 PE
Superb result so far

Check the tax note. Deferred tax boosted the PBT to that level. Oando will take ages before they make real profit.

I hope people will look more into Forte Oil and see that it is also a time bomb waiting to happen. Take out the discontinued operations and what you will have left will amaze you. How did the company get this bad?

Stock that has a better eps in mid 2018,diminished in Q3 and finally crippled in year end.

It may finally die in 2019.

Is it not better to be grooving in profit with an illiquid stock that be grasping with loss in a liquid stock.

Caverton and Eterna pay the same dividend of 25 kobo
Caverton EPS, 1.27 Kobo 2018 against 77 kobo 2017, very good and wonderful result.
Eterna EPS, 77 kobo 2018 against 1.54 2017, Very poor result.
Power will change hands starting from Monday, many companies presented disappointed poor result

Caverton is still leading. Not monkey hunting, but treasure hunting grin grin grin grin
