I see a lot of people quoting 75K for IELTS with British Council. I took mine at IDP IELTS MOD for 68K. IDP stands for International Development Program and a co-owner of IELTS and a partner with British Council. You can google it yourself but here’s the website: https://ielts.ng/ to register. MOD also offers tutorial for IELTS, here’s the site http://modeducation.info/. Hope this is helpful smiley

For people having problem logging into their IRCC GCKey account. Try using another browser (e.g Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge), I couldn't open mine for many days now, I just used Mozilla and it worked.

You’re right about that. But why would you be hoping for a remark? Lol. The FREE tools that are provided with IDP MOD is sufficient to pass and save money in my opinion.

Na so oo.

The journey after PPR lipsrsealed

ladymarshall:
Haha! Is anything worthwhile ever easy? I think that going is the easiest part sef. PPR is only the beginning. Living, settling and getting a job in Canada seems even more tougher than going. I have not slept since yesterday. Spent all night on Quora, Canadavisa, google home page and the living in canada thread NL reading migrants' experiences in Canada, their survival strategies, job hunt efforts, their happiness and regrets etc. So many varied experiences from people with different nationalities, some are happy, others are bitter, some settled in fine quickly, others are still finding their feet after years. This is indeed a personal journey, only you can own it and make the best out of it with information and networks. The major lessons I could get out from last night reading is the importance of managing your expectations (there are positives and negatives), keeping an open mind to what you get, while still being ambitious and striving for better opportunities.

Do not be discouraged. Take this journey one step at a time. And see it as a training for you. When you have questions or have the slightest doubt, keep asking. There is no stupid or dumb question, only different levels of understanding. It is why we are here smiley

Ok lets cut to the chase, its finally PPR and COPR for the PM.

Decision to travel: December 2015 after my NYSC.

I started scrambling for foreign scholarships, engaging agents on how to obtain US visa with ease, how gullible i was then. I fell into the wrong hands and all my savings depleted. I even joined the students usa visa thread where the likes of lagosismyhome were elders then. Just know something today, agents are not your friend, all they wanna do is enrich their pockets. He told me to write IELTS first and aim for a good score, he was not specific. I left his office that day thinking sebi its just English and this agents seem nice.

Wrote my first IELTS May 2017 scored 6,6.5,7,7 LRSW. I called the agent and he said its not enof,i was devastated and summoned courage that i will write another one. In the middle of it all,i kept calling my agent he stopped picking my calls, stopped responding to my messages,i visited his office he was just giving lame excuses that my assessment is not yet out. Chai see gullibility at his best all over me. He frustrated me to start reading on my own that was how i stumbled on this thread. I was chewing it like agege bread and zobo (ounje mechanic).

I wrote IELTS for the 2nd time August 2017 and that was how my frustration began. After 13 days BC refused to release my results. Ayeraye ninu awon orun o,they have come again o.They said my result was witheld for quality checks. Chai why me. Did i tell you i had to walk out of a toxic employment during this period. I was lonely, sad and depressed. 2 months down the line no results after several mails and calls. By November 2017,i visited their office and they appealed to me to be patient. Patience kwa after 3 months what if the score is not even worth it. I couldn't even write another one then as advised by folks cos i was broke.

For where, i got PPR just few days to the 6months clock. At this time, i was no longer bothered as my patience gear was already on gear 5, i just told God to have his way and i continued with the waiting game. Glory be to God almighty.

Hello house congrats to all the PPR clinchers....May God bless the land for you. Seniors in the house,Pls a friend outside NL asked me a question that is bigger than my knowledge on this journey....She was planning to start this journey with her fiance, but the guy friends in Canada said it's hard to get a good job when one didn't have at least 1 certificate from Canada school and regarding their POF they can't raise for the both of them,Now they both agree to put their wedding plans on hold and let the guy alone go for now....The question now is that is it possible for someone who got a PR visa to come back to Nigeria after 2-3 years to marry the lady legally and go together....How easy is this process and what would you advice pls....Seniors in the house, please help me put mouth Topsmamen,Ifeoma and others..Thanks

They dont need to spend upto 80k for wedding: Court and church wedding , no need to invite crowd except witnesses. It is safe to say the guy is a player

On processing timelines - Part I

It has become increasingly clear since last year that IRCC is becoming overwhelmed by the number of express entry applications to be processed. I remember a discussion on earlier thread with @Tojued and others. In the face of overwhelming anecdotal evidence, I took the position that since IRCC maintains the 6 months processing timeline on its website it must still be true. I posited that applications are still being processed on time, maybe we are just not hearing about it. With my own 6-months timeline in sight, I've done further research and I'm re-evaluating my position.

If you check the current processing timeline (here), it states 6 months for Express Entry (EE). However, looking at the fine print reveals a different picture.

Below the "6 months" caption, on the lower textbox, it states: "We are committed to processing most complete applications within the above time."

Under the Question (here): "Why do some application processing times change and others do not?", see this response:
"The number of applications we receive for each program can affect processing times................Some posted processing times are a service commitment. Since the commitment applies, these times will not change.". Meaning the notice is a target and not an actual reality.

Does it mean that the service standard has not been met before? No. The most recent data online are from April 1, 2017 - March 31, 2018 (here):

"Federal Skilled Worker Program (via Express Entry)
Our service standard: process electronic applications within 6 months
Our target: meet the standard for at least 80% of submitted applications (within the approved annual immigration levels plan)
Our performance in 2017-2018: processed 93% of applications within the standard
We introduced this service standard in March 2015

Provincial Nominee Program (via Express Entry)
Our service standard: process electronic applications within 6 months (doesn’t include the time it takes the province or territory to process)
Our target: meet the standard for at least 80% of applications submitted (within the approved annual immigration levels plan)
Our performance in 2017-2018: processed 76% of applications within the standard
We introduced this service standard in March 2015"

The data for April 2018 till date are not available and that is the relevant one for this write-up. The apparent slow down became more noticeable as 2018 drew to a close.

The start of any analysis has to be when does processing time start? The answer is(this): "Your processing time starts the day we receive your complete application and ends when we make a decision."

The next is how are processing times calculated? The answer here states that there are 2 ways of calculating, projected and historical.

Projected: Processing times are measured based on the current number of applications waiting to be processed and how quickly we expect to process 80% of them.
This was changed publicly for some PR lines (paper based PNP, etc) in July 2018. I also believe there is an projected timeline for Express Entry that is only available to agents. That is why sometimes when you call, you will to told about an expected day of completion that is longer than your 6 months timeline. It could be 7 months or even 10 months.

Historical: Processing times are measured based on how long it took to process 80% of applications in the past. This is what is supposed to be shown on the EE public processing timeline, but as noted earlier, it is the service standard that is shown.

To be continued....
