edi287: For a player to be tagged World Class, the player has to be performing at the highest level for at least 10 years. Most of this players tagged World Class are top quality players, not World class. Even Van Dijk isn't. He is a top quality player. If he continues with this form for at least a decade, then we can tag him and the others World class. Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, Ribery, Robben etc. Players who dominated the game for a decade or more. That is playing at the highest level for a long time. With this, Aubameyang and the others are not World Class players. Certainly, top quality. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: So players must play for top level for 10 years ,that's all world class players must be 30 years old I think you must be joking If so the only world class players who are CB are pique, chellini,Ramos ,Thiago Silva,Godin the rest cbs must be carpenters |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 10:59am On Apr 10, 2019 |
Icon4s: They are not World class players. Maybe except Hazard because he was up there as one of the best players in the World when he was at Lille. In a small club as that to pull off such brilliant performances, means he was operating at a very high level. Until now in Chelsea to me makes him a World class player. Neymar has been up there too from his Santos days where he later became the best player in the whole of South America, to Barcelona and still doing his thing at PSG but, Neymar has not been up there up to ten years. However, in two or more years, if he keeps performing at a high level, he will be certainly a World class player. So I can only point at Hazard. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:02am On Apr 10, 2019 |
tbaba1234: A decade at the highest level/performances. If not top quality. A young player like Messi when he burst into the scene had a Word Class potential. He could be excused when he won the World best three times. Same with CR7. Apart from these special instances. The likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Paul Scholes, Pirlo etc, became World class after a decade. That is my personal yardstick. With that you can easily identify the World class players and those who are not. De Bruyne isn't but David Silva is. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:05am On Apr 10, 2019 |
So another instance that can be excused is winning the Ballon D'Or two or three times. Then that player is World Class, even if he has not operated for a decade. Apart from that, operate at the highest level for a decade. |

TheGoodJoe: Which hazard at Lille ?hazard is world class, but please don't call hazard at Lille because he his average there Is it the same Neymar that has made the balon d or top 3 for about 2/3 times ? As far as the football world is concerned and not individual like me and you Neymar has been better than hazard in Europe almost all season barring injury Is it the same hazard that is having his most prolific season this year ? Nothing wey musa no go see for gate Someone called Hazard world class and Neymar not . Should I remind you that Neymar has more career goals and assist ? Smh |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:13am On Apr 10, 2019 |
andrew444: Some players at 18, they were already making high quality waves. From Neymar, Mbappe, Owen, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo De Lima (who became the best player in the World I think in his teens and won it back-to-back), Xavi, Iniesta etc. So a player must not be thirty before being World class. Pique, Ramos, Busquets, Marcelo, these are World Class players. If a player is not World class, it does not mean he is a carpenter. We have World Class potential players. These are players showing World class qualities but the best term is top/high quality players. When they do it for a decade, then we can tag them World Class. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by andrew444(m): 11:15am On Apr 10, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe: Neymar has been a world class player for more than 6 seasons now The so called hazard has never even made balon d or top 5 ,Neymar has done that several times and you are here saying Neymar is not world class but hazard ? Your opinion thou If you call 100 people now and ask them if Neymar na world class ,I can bet you that 98 will say yes and only 2 will say no But if it's hazard it's 60/40 |

andrew444: Zinedine Zidane Recommends Lille’s Eden Hazard To Real Madrid He might not be a confirmed member of Florentino Perez's Real Madrid team yet, but Zinedine Zidane has today recommended a player for the Spanish club to sign: Eden Hazard. The Belgian international is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Europe at the moment and is currently plying his trade with Lille in France. This season he has been named as the best young player in Ligue 1 and is capable of playing on the wings or in the centre of midfield. His talent and versatility have reportedly earned him interest from Barcelona and Arsenal, however, now Zidane has recommended him to Madrid. Speaking to De Morgen, the French legend said, "I would take Hazard to Madrid with my eyes closed." Whether or not Perez and the new regime at Madrid will be interested in players with a relatively low-profile such as Hazard is doubtful, but there is no questioning that he is a dangerous player at his best. This season he has put in some superb display in Ligue 1 and is unlikely to cost Madrid too much if they do decide to sign him. Perez is set to take over as president of the Spanish club on June 1, after the last potential candidate, Eduardo Garcia, failed to provide the guarantee needed to run. Ozkar: De Bruyne isn't. He is a World Class talent and has the potential to be World Class player but needs to operate on this level for a while before we can nod our heads and say yes, this is a World Class player. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:24am On Apr 10, 2019 |
andrew444: If Hazard was at Barcelona all these years, he would have earned it. However, his talent ability and consistency at the highest level makes him a World Class player. No denying it. Neymar's multiple nomination as the best player in the World is a good debate but let him hit a decade highs. |
