Aragon1:hello, you seem to be vast with the tourist visa stuff. Please advise me: I intend traveling towards the end of June and would be staying for like 7 days, in a hotel of course. I was processing the visa stuff with wakanow.com (already paid 10k for consultation). They are saying visa fees is 85k. Want to start the processing after Easter but I want to find out: 1. Can I process on my own without having to go through a travel agent? 2.is the visa fee cheaper than the 85k I’m being charged if I go on my own? 3. How much is the estimate in both flight and accommodation and tour that would be enough for a 7 day stay? 4. Which of the South African cities would you suggest that is so much fun for a young single man( I don’t have any one in mind) 5.5.Do I have to pay for flight booking and hotel before I submit my application? I don’t want this travel agent to rip me off, because they are saying I must book an accommodation with them. Just like you opined, I want to spend the least amount possible, as no one wants to spend his life savings on vacation. Your imput will be very much appreciated. I don’t mind getting your contact if possible. |

Restricted:hello, you mean if I make hotel reservations and flight reservations this way you specified without actually paying, and ever other thing being ok, I can submit my documents myself without going through an agent and I would be issued a visa? Also, please which of the places in South Africa can I have maximum fun? I want to enjoy my stay to the fullest |

To begin with, if you have plans to travel by June I advice you apply at least 6 weeks before your proposed departure date. Secondly, visa application fee is less than 40k if you apply by yourself. However you need to find out the list of required application documents. Depending on how early you book your flight and where you are going to flight prices vary. For instance, flights to joburg are usually cheaper. Less than 150k for a return ticket to joburg. Flights to Capetown and other cities are usually expensive. On a average, keep a budget of 250k. For accommodation, I will advice you try airbnb. It's usually much cheaper and gives a variety of choice to make. If you have a big taste for houses, keep a budget of 100 dollars per night. If you are going to SA for the first time I advise you don't go to Joburg on your first visit. Capetown is a very lovely city. You will love it. Lastly, nobody books flight and accommodation during visa application. When you get to vfs, those guys hustling around would help you for a token. I hope this helps. cucumbar: |

mroyato:wow! This info has been very helpful. Was just checking prices of hotels on Airbnb. Are those prices real? They are actually very affordable. That means I can stay longer if I want. Why do you say I shouldn’t go to jo’burg as a first timer? I have the list of required documents already from waka now.com but I don’t want to continue with them if I can do it on my own. Are you saying I don’t have to make any form of hotel and airline reservation when presenting my documents ? What sort of help would I expect from the guys at the vsf? Thanks once again for your response |

Yes, you can use your visa even if your intended date of traveling has passed. And yes there is a direct flight to Capetown intl airport from Lagos. andrew444: |

For a first-timer, you may not like your trip to Joburg. Generally, Joburg is notorious for a lot of things except if you are familiar with the city. However, the city is quite beautiful. As for applying on your own, you are very good to go as far as your documents are good. For the flight and hotel reservation, it is a compulsory part of your application. All I am saying is that you do not have to make a paid reservation for them until your visa is out. I have suggested the vfs shops so that you can ease yourself of the headache. They'll sort you out with a token. cucumbar: |

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Mimicle101: 5:40am On Apr 11, 2019 |
walejummy: Joburg Town or CBD is like lagos town. Too many agberos (street kids) u can be robbed easily even in day light. Or stabbed with knife. Even some 9ja guys u see there u may not want to trust all of them too much cos ur fellow 9ja can also rob u. So that's why he is not recommending that side to u. Good luck. 1 Like |
