DECISION TO TRAVEL

Hubby had always been planning to relocate his family as far as I've always known him but me i will just yinmu at his ogo (if only i had known). Then in 2015, he met with a senior colleague who had relocated with his family to Canada, but that one just told him to allow me finish NYSC and he would put him through. That's how the oga no respond to messages and calls again o.
So hubby later met another colleague who had immigrated to Canada at an hospital where he worked as a locum doctor in January 2016. Apparently the Canadian doctor told him about the express entry and gave him the cic website, mcc website and his phone number. He probably explained everything to him but i know my husband no get patience to listen to that level. Hubby sha got home gave me the websites to check. I did check the eligibility tool and when it asked for IELTS, I answered that i had not written and i was found ineligible. Of course because I wasn't really interested i didn't bother to google what IELTS was all about. Then i went to the MCC website, checked exam fees, thinking that was how to go about it, then i saw 2000+ CAD as exam fees, i just closed the website say una no serious (not knowing na me no serious).
Anyways, i had a valid US visa and on finding out i was pregnant in February 2016, hubby decided that i should have the baby in the US. Even that one i still didn't want to go o. Well, no be my fault, na Aregbe cause am as that was the era of Halfusal (half salary) and it would mean we were spending our entire savings on the trip. Anyway, hubby convinced to go have the baby in the US (read as forced, dude actually asked me "is it your money?"wink. Anyways that was the eye opener i needed. My first trip to the US was a 2week trip and it was not a fun trip so my eye no open. But after spending 11weeks in the US, i realized that "aye pe meji men". Na me come dey disturb hubby to keep reaching out to the first senior colleague, say hopefully, one day he go respond.
Thankfully I had found the Nairaland forum while preparing for the "missionary trip" and had somewhat become addicted to the US birth thread. After my return from the US, i was jobless as i had quit my locum job before my trip. At least, this availed me time for Nairaland and that was how i stumbled on the part 1 of this thread. I read the entire thread and the cic website that week. Decided to Google IELTS, did some practice tests and realised it was doable. I simulated our score and realised i needed at least 3yrs of work experience to max out scores to get ITA (at the time, i only had 2yrs 3months experience and hubby no want write IELTS). There and then i made up my mind to relocate in January 2017. That same week, my good sis @happytbaby who i met through birth thread told me about the express entry and the thread too.

PROOF OF FUNDS

Na here k-leg come dey o. We had spent 95% of our savings on childbirth, i wasn't working, Aregbe decided to start paying half salary, and yet he owed 6 full months salary because they were on strike. We decided to start saving towards this. I went back to work. Hubby was trying PP here and there. At the end of 2018, money never reach 2million. Hmmm, we didn't give up. January 1st 2018, after watchnight service, Hubby asked how much we needed for the whole process, asked for the prerequisites and we decided right there and then to just start anyway. I registered for IETLS, started our ECA.
when ITA finally landed, POF still never pass 2M, but God raised a source of help miraculously and we had complete POF o.

IELTS

I only practiced reading and listening for about 2weeks. I used ieltsliz to read tips but I practised all the exercises in Cambridge 1 to 13. Thanks to the wonderful people who made them available for download. I also read some of the tips on the thread. I watched some youtube videos by Jay for speaking the day before the speaking test. I tried to practice writing but i just didn't feel like writing. Thankfully, i had LRWS 8.5/9/7/7.
N.B: don't be like me o, practice more if you know you need it o.

ECA

This was through MCC. I did Ijebu here sha. I took my documents to the dean of my faculty to notarize (free of charge) since i had access to him. :p Also sent my documents, hubby's documents and a friend's document (each in a seperate envelope) in one big envelope through courier to MCC. Sorry, na Aregbe cause am.
Thankfully, Lautech College of Health Sciences came through as verification was done within 3days.
Though, hubby's ECA was delayed as the copy of his certificate was rejected because it was not clear enough. Thank God we were allowed to resend that through email (had to resend twice), else the money we were trying to save on courier fees would have been spent eventually.

REFERENCE LETTERS

This was easy to get though UCH charged me 10k for reference letter, just one page o. I remember when my sister scanned it to me, i was like, "is that all? 10k leleyi?" *kmt*
Anyways, other reference letters were free and also easy to get. Claimed experience for 3yrs 4months in all.

MEDICALS

This was done at Children's practice as i couldn't get a nearer date at Qlife and i no get IOM money. *rme* After making calls to Children's practice 3 different times and they confirming i could walk in but to make sure to be there before 9am, we left Osogbo and got there only to be turned back at the gate by the security guard that there was no space. Hubby and i insisted on talking to someone. After blowing all the grammar, the rude receptionist wasn't even ready to listen. We sha insisted that we weren't leaving. Luckily, a family of 4 who had been there earlier at 6am and left didn't show up, and that was how she slotted in our names. We were the last people they attended to.
Hubby was on antihypertensives but his BP was still elevated that day, so they insisted on additional tests (ECG and serum creatinine). Also the doctor insisted on hubby sending a medical report from his cardiologist. This was sent some days later via email and it was confirmed that the report had been received when we called.
I was following immitracker and i realised that people who had same AOR got med passed on the 10th of July, so i decided to call Children's practice to confirm if our medicals had been sent. You can only imagine how shocked i was when i was told all our medicals had been uploaded except hubby's own because they were waiting for the medical report. I insisted that it had been sent a month earlier and they had acknowledged the receipt. I kept calling all through the day until I was allowed to talk to a doctor who promised to upload hubby's form that night. Anyways, we passed medicals the next morning.

PCC

This was done through the famous Inspector ASP Moshood. We used the waiting time at Children's practice to get to Alagbon, got the PCC and went back to wait out turn at the hospital.

I remembered the day i found out our file was at AVO. That night, i just couldn't cry. Hubby had a major exam the following week and I didn't want him distracted. But I couldn't hide my gloomy mood from him for too long. He took the news better and was even the one reassuring me. It was even more worrisome for me as the GCMS notes i ordered took over 3 months before i received them. The notes turned out fine anyways except for review required on statutory question for hubby's visa refusal.

I am thankful for this thread, to Zandora who started the thread and to every single person who has kept this thread alive from Part 1 to 7. I am thankful to happytbaby for all your support and your help. I don't know how to thank you enough. God bless you real good. I am thankful to every member of the AVO WhatsApp group. You guys sure kept me sane when i was starting to lose it. To the world's best husband who has always been there reassuring me even when i felt like giving up, i love you. To Him alone who is worthy of all my praise i say thank You. If all the hairs on my head were tongues, they are not enough to praise You.

P.S.: if you quote this entire long post just know that I'm flogging you with an 8 strand koboko in my mind tongue tongue tongue

I had been feeling down for a week and actually decided to type this on Monday as a therapy and put my PPR date as 10/04/2019 but hey what is one day? grin
I was jejely taking lunch this afternoon and my second son was fighting me for it, then i got an email alert, saw it was a "do not reply mail", omo, i no know when i drop the food o.
All in all, i am very grateful to God. 9months 18day wait was no joke but hey, the joy of PPR has overriden that. For everyone still expectant, may your joy be full and your expectation will not be cut off.

Thank you Lord …. I am so relieved and grateful to God for the release from AVO!!!!!*edited*

So I took my IELTS in May 2017 (L -8.5, R – 7.0, W – 7.0 , S -7.5)
Got my ECA in September 2017
Hubby maxed his IELTS in January 2018 – Can’t remember the exact scores
CRS score – 407 in January 2018

Nominated – 17 July 2018
Medicals – 23 July 2018
AOR – 30 July 2018 (made sure to submit to avoid biometrics)
MEP - 21 August 2018
THEN THE DEAFENING SILENCE!!!!

My gratitude to God is mainly on the fact that he kept us sane through the waiting period.

Thanks to this thread on Nairaland….I learnt 70% of what I know about the express entry on this thread. It wasn’t an easy journey but it has ended well.

So for those still at one stage or the other, keep faith alive, it will surely happen.

In the other news, we are selling our stuff at giveaway prices, if you are in Lagos and looking to buy something in that regards please pm.

Hi everyone and congrats to all PPR clinchers.

I'm back again after going into hiding to prepare for my IELTS. The first one dealt with me and I gave it all my best this second time and trusted God to perfect all the errors I made in the exam.

1ST IELTS: L 7.5,R 6.0,W 7.5,S 7.0

2ND IELTS: L 8.5,R 8.0,W 8.0, S 8.5

TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!!!

For my 2nd preparation, I basically used ieltsadvantage.com and edx.org. (for those still preparing for theirs, you can check it out too)

Now let me go and start reading from page 1 abi wink to know what I will do next...
