You think I'm interested in travelling to Ukraine??
The thing is there are so many nairalanders in different countries around the world, some in remote countries in Asia, Europe and South America. I always wondered why we only have threads about USA Canada and the U.K. Nothing about all these countries. Then I got to know the answer. People don't post their travel experiences in these countries because of people like you. The girl opened a thread and everyone was enjoying it till you came with your negative vibes...

It's almost summer here, but still very very cold.... It's been quite difficult for me adjusting to the weather all the thick jackets I bought in naija, feeling funky... are completely useless here.. Ukraine is cold no joke!! The sun na scam, here they have longer days and shorter nights, 8pm looks like 2pm..

Ukrainians are friendly, I have so far, NOT encountered any form of racism

Transportation is extremely cheap here
Food is cheap
1 standard size sharwama goes for 600naira
Something you ll get in naija for 1500naira
I would say life in Ukraine is cheap.

Is the attached picture Ocean Plaza? I was there in January this year, Ukraine is nice. Girls are gorgeous and the most traditional in all of Europe. Although, I love Kharkiv more, its modern, spacious and a student city

Ukraine is about joining the European union fully ...that is why they don't give visa anyhow again, except for those who paid that money, Once they d join, getting visa go be like long jump for naija and then students here can visit other countries around Europe without visa.

Stop dreaming, Ukraine will not join the EU in the foreseeable future. Ukraine is corrupt, broke and complicated with Russian aggression. The EU hasn't even got itself together after integrating Balkan countries like Croatia to the Zone. Ukraine with its large and broke population, infrastructure and corruption will be a disaster and no EU country will give it a pass in the EU parliament.

Ukraine having free Visa to schengen is nothing, it wont join the EU until it got its act together. Besides, joining the EU is not an automatic access to foreigners living in Ukraine to visit other EU countries. For example, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Cyprus are all EU countries, and foreigners living there cant visit other EU countries simply because joining EU doesn't guarantee an automatic access to schengen.

In other words, I can only say the truth about Ukraine only when its palatable, but not when it's not? I'm comparing Ukraine to other EU countries, typical naija girl, dumb and lack any strain of logic. And how does saying Ukraine is nice negates the fact that its broke too? Same Ukraine that 1.5 million of its citizens works in Poland, and about a million leave annually? A country its citizens are leaving in mass you're moving to, alpha female wey no get sense. undecided

If entering EU is your aim and Ukraine was a bridge for you, you go old. Just the bitter truth. Even in the next 10 years, Ukraine wont make it to the EU, not hard to see if you know a thing about geo-politics. Countries far better than Ukraine (e.g Serbia, Turkey) are not accepted yet, talk less of broke and corrupt Ukraine. Ukraine is the second poorest country in Europe (after Moldova), entering EU is like joining naija to UK, it will never happen. Better find your own route and leave that place instead of waiting for it to join EU, and also schengen zone afterwards. undecided

Im loving your travel diary.... I’ve been to ukraine too and it takes some getting used to so I really commend you for choosing to study there... the language barriers alone would be hard enough... but then to deal with the weather, the food and all the rest... wow, you’re doing well tho, I’m loving following your experiences on here!

Why don't you go to Ukraine to see how people are so optimistic they'll join the European Union in the nearest future. She obviously has Ukrainian friends and she's sharing from their optimism. I don't know why you can't be sensible enough to see it from that angle rather than write an epistle on why Ukraine won't join the EU. She never started an argument, she was just sharing her story..
And if her plan is to enter other European countries through Ukraine she'll definitely find it easy after completing her studies.. That's what most Africans in Ukraine do.

You have serious anger issues which has left you totally insensitive. What is your business with her life choices? Were you in her shoes to know why she made the decision to school in this particular country? Do you know her future plans of what to do after her schooling in the country? Are you God to foresee her future and even that of the country? You don't know either of this yet you felt so right and entitled to rubbish her decision. You're mentally sick and need psychological help because you obviously don't know how to relate with people.

Dude!!!
First off, I'd like to tell you that you have successfully made a fool of yourself on a public forum, what a stupid and vague generalization about women including your mum and sisters (wondering how disappointed your mum would be seeing her son posting nonsense on a public forum). You could have at least kept quiet, been following the thread and this is my first comment.

However, I am less interested in your bitterness, and more interested in your statistics, how is it that 1m people leave Ukraine yearly? Where are they going to? Is it your Nigeria they are going to or the EU where they do not have free access to? Back up your details with facts rather than just coming up with random figures to justify your supposed stupidity which you are doing a bad job at hiding.

Op if you are seeing this, I do not know if you are new on nairaland but especially on this travel section, we have bitter people whose main job is to bastardize the country you are in like Nigeria is any better.

Majority, especially travel enthusiasts are really interested in your experiences and pictures from Ukraine regardless of whether some bitter guys come and derail the thread, please just continue and it would be really wonderful if you can do a very simple job of ignoring these guys.

Thank you.

Did you saw the intonation of her replies to me before I responded similarly? Respect is reciprocal. If you want civilised response, then do the same. If she want to only post without contradicting views, she should build her own website, then post only, restricting public access. This is an online forum, it is preeminent that one should develop a thick skin, and be open to opposing views, even if it's not necessarily accepted, replied to or acknowledged. To deactivate an account because someone said something that is factual, but you dont like it's something weakling do. And who cares if she deactivated her account?

One thing is that she will not deceive gullible candidates to go to Ukraine with the hope that it will transit them to the EU. My homeboy whom I visited Kiev from Germany in January was deceived by agents with such lie, that he can visit all EU countries because the EU granted Ukrainians free Visa recently, until he landed and found it to be a lie.

Regardless of my unsavory reply to her, one thing you all will never do is debunk anything I wrote. Ukraine is broke and wont make it to the EU in the foreseeable future. Learn to be logical than overly emotional, and not being offended by anonymity of virtual space. It's called being an adult.

Anyone that travels to Ukraine or any other country with adequate research is a fool. No one is deceiving any person to go to Ukraine. She's only sharing in the optimism common among Ukrainians. You can ask any of your Ukrainian friends what they feel about Ukraine joining the EU they'll tell you the same thing she said. So for you to quote what she said initially and say " stop dreaming " is something else. I don't understand how you were expecting a nice reply from her. And you took it to another level with your last reply to her.
I don't know why you guys can't just read and ignore.. It's not an advert to study in Ukraine, it's a diary of her experiences for God's sake. You've been waiting patiently from the beginning to drop whatever crazy information you have about Ukraine, it's obvious. No one said anything until that first guy said something about the pictures, then you and the other derailers started with your nonsense.
