Quite sad, so many people are excited to flee their motherland to help grow and build up a white man's land. It's just like what my friend used to say, 'immigration is modern day slavery except this time they do not have to forcibly chain able bodied men to slave ships or rape our women, they just make it easier for your youngest and brightest minds to simply emigrate in droves'. Who will build this country if you all leave, have you ever thought of that? You think once you run to Canada you will still have any reason to return home? How about your kids? Do you think by taking them to Nigeria for 3weeks vacation will entice them to one day relocate to their father land? Sure nobody thinks about these things. The biggest problem the black race has is selfishness while the white man thinks about the greater good of a community. Everyone only thinks about what will benefit them and their family and that's where it ends. Even in the so called abroad, your fellow Nigerian will not want to accommodate or guide you because they think you will be better than them. Common info about schools, work or getting certain government documents, your fellow Nigerian in the diaspora will not help you. White countries and white people In general are successful because they collaborate and help each other. U.S, Canada and the UK are amongst the most developed countries today due to strong trade and military alliance. A white employer will hire a fellow white man for a lucrative job position before he hires an immigrant with the same credentials.

Before anyone says I'm ranting because I was denied Visa or whatever PPR thing you guys relish here like a lottery ticket, I also used to think abroad was the be all end all after graduating from university. I also hustled and eventually left Nigeria. I made $265,000 that year working several overtime hours (I have the W-2 and tax return forms to prove it) but I was never really satisfied because this part of me kept feeling like I betrayed my country. It takes a special kind of person to self reflect and then decide to walk away from a lifestyle of adequate security, good health care system, great schools, cheap food and law & order but without any sacrifice, Nigeria will perpetually remain a 3rd world cesspool. I moved back, got a job and started a mentorship and scholarship program where we find youths whose families are unable to pay their elementary and secondary school fees and we partner with local businesses to raise funds for these kids. School isn't for everyone, we also train several kids in IT, carpentry, plumbing, construction and mini importation. Has it been easy? No. Do I sometimes miss the convenience of my 2 bedroom apartment in north Los Angeles? You bet I do. But do I feel accomplished knowing that I'm making a positive change in small ways that will alleviate poverty, possibly reduce crime and put more food on the tables of a few Nigerians? Certainly.

The UN needs to look into countries like Canada that take advantage of the dire situation in Nigeria and prowl on our brightest and youngest minds for the sole purpose of developing their country and replacing their aging workforce. Just today, their Prime minister was begging President Buhari to give him 1 million Nigerians. This just sounds like the year 1756 where the white man met with local chiefs and traded silver, mirrors and gun powder for African slaves. While I know most of you have made up your mind to flee your motherland, the least I can urge you to do is to find reputable charities and NGOs in Nigeria and donate to them once in a while. Goodluck.
We thank you for your sacrifice and wish you more power as you build the country

Congratulations to all PPR clinchers and to our PAPA @joo2018 may God favour you in your new homes.

And to that somebody that made $256,000 dollars in a foreign land and came back and start saying we should build the country together.
Well let me too go first and see if I will not come back and join you in building thus country. Hmm.

Dear Mr. RentAcock,

your message is well received but a thousand and one things are begging for explanations. like, what is the purpose of this lengthy garbage you typed? what are you driving at? what's eating you up? You try to paint a patriotic picture but all I see in your post is devoid of patriotism and oozing of bigotry.
The sky is wide enough for all to fly, allow all man to carry their cross as you've carried yours...let all paddle their canoe.

Please see the bolded in your post, why try to justify something if its true? who doubted you?

I wish you well in all your endeavor but this your post is grossly unnecessary. All the best.

I got ppr this morning guys. I'm coming back with my story.
AOR 16TH OCT 2018
PPR 12TH APRIL 2019
Visa office Accra

When life throws you a curve ball you swing for the fences

Let me start by saying I have been on this thread long enough to see same questions and answers repeated a thousand times over. Please my people, especially those just stumbling on the thread, page one (1) is a gold mine of information, reading and researching yourself cannot be over emphasized. Page 1 and most especially the IRCC webpage should be your trusted source of info as NO TWO applications are same. I commend those who take out their time to populate page 1…..kudos
Now to my story the includes spraining my ankle and ripping my jeans trouser falling down a flight of stairs after ending a reading session with my dear wife preparing for IELTS. See I’m a big tall guy so you can imagine how both traumatic it was for me and hilarious it would have been for my wife hearing a loud thumb then turning around and seeing me on the floor struggling to get on my feet. I had my ankle rapped with bandage for 1 week and I was limping for 2weeks.
Thinking of it now I will take the ripped jeans with me to Canada as a memento of what it cost me to get to the land of maple syrup.
There’s also the incident of armed robbers encountered on the highway on our way back from Lagos after we had our medicals. The incident was so traumatic for me that I have since dreaded the thought of us getting back on the road together as a family. No man wants to see his family in such vulnerable situation BUT I thank God Almighty and the driver on that day.
It also fills me with joy today as I notice heavy police presence on the same stretch of road were this ugly incident happened travelling to and from Lagos to submit out passports for transmission to Accra. The next time we travel that road it would be FOR GOOD.
So I’m one of those whose UK dreams and promises were never fulfilled. After the experience of the UK the thought of going back to the western world was a big NO! NO!, the UK scared me deep. But alas the Master’s degree earned helped garner enough points towards express entry.
The decision to finally move or give express entry a try came after one of the numerous usual lengthy conversations with my younger brother about Canada in November 2017. The guy just wouldn’t let me rest, that fateful day he called I put the phone speakers on so my wife could listen in on the conversation and I guess that was what did the trick because after the call ended all my wife said was “ OYA WHERE DO WE START FROM” and we haven’t looked back since.

My pride was a bit hurt because after my fall and level of preparedness I thought I was going to score more than I did especially in listening as I was acing the practice test on YouTube. Kudos to wifey who did tremendously well despite her very busy work schedule.

ECA (WES AND MCC)
For me it was a breeze because of my UK degree I used WES. This was in the days before they needed WAEC before assessment can be done. For my madam who is a medical practitioner and studied local, it was HELL!!! NASU was on strike for 3monhs in early 2018, this cost us 5points as my wife who is our PA had a birthday before we could get her degree evaluated and enter the pool. Did I also mention we paid “like white” to get her documents verified after it was sent back by MCC for verification. Not too long after back door payment was made, I think a week, NASU called off their strike. Both educational credential assessments were masters and professional degree respectively.

PCC
Mine was both a Nigerian and UK PCC, and as usual no stress getting the UK PCC. We didn’t use the ASP/ inspector Mushood that people on NL run to and we did ours for about 3k if my memory serves me right. My UK PCC was gotten in December 2017 but was used for the ITA gotten in October 2018. It was still very much valid since I had not gone back to the UK since it was issued.

POF
This comprised of both personal saving and a cash gift from both father and father in-law. Our POF was in Fixed-term deposits. So we include 6 months SOA, Letter of introduction, letter of non-indebtedness and the notorised gift deeds and affidavits. A couple of weeks after AOR I noticed a typo in the gift deed; I quickly corrected this and raised a CSE with the corrected deeds. For a long time this gave me a headache as I was worried it could affect our app.

OTHERS
I included schedule A form upfront as madam has a previous visa refusal (I was hoping this move would help us avoid London or Accra visa office), we claimed sibling points (we updated our profile few days after my sister in-law had gained entry into Canada and gotten her COPR signed at the point of entry), I included all the relevant doc requested to claim these points (15points) and also pictures of my wife and her sister from when they were toddlers to present age).

THE WAIT
CHISUS!!!!!
I must have checked my profile 7856781239 times, I kid you not. I found out our file was at AVO on the 18th February 2019 and mehn!! there are no words to describe the sinking feeling. That period was the most depressed I must have felt during this process. For days I couldn’t even describe to my wife the implications of our file being in AVO. I don’t know what London or Kiev feels like but AVO I can’t wish on anyone.
So in the days after knowing our file was at AVO I uninstalled ALL travel and related apps on my phone, put away all research that has been done concerning Canada, stopped coming on Nairaland bla bla bla , I just felt we were in it for the LONG HAUL. I was lucky enough to be included in AVO WhatsApp group by a lovely soul (KORY I THANK YOU) who noticed my cry out in the OCTOBER AOR WhatsApp group I was part of.
The guys in the AVO group are a band of brothers, I have met some lovely people in that group: zeus, chiddy, kory, persy et al; ALL of you guys are blessed and are a pillar of support your golden mail is on the way. Things got so desperate at AVO we raised and signed petitions, sent tweets to Canada’s minister of immigration and I guess the straw that finally broke the camel’s back was our numerous praise and worship sessions. In the first 2 weeks of april we got close to 40PPRs and it's still raining.

So for those who would someday find their app in AVO here’s the theory and it seems true:
AVO works with/within a window, some say it’s from DECEMBER TO MARCH, other says JANUARY TO APRIL which ever one it is if your file gets to them after this window, well you just need to take a chill pill, you MIGHT not get your PPR till the following year. This year they must have opened the window late because we didn’t get the deluge of PPRs till April when we all thought it was going to be MARCH. May, June and JULY 2018 AOR still waiting for PPR, for those that have been released we can’t thank God enough, it has ended in praise.
With other VO you wake up to see the golden mail, but with AVO you spend the whole day checking and waiting for the mail to drop. I was at my mechanic when I checked to see the golden mail staring back at me and as I made calls to my wife and then my mum I became a baby again without a care in the world who was watching……it is/was a good feeling….trust me.

Ok. Thanks for the information. We have checked our best possible score with and current academic qualifications and highest band in ielts...it's 408.
If any of us commences an MSc program now by the time we finish, scores will reduce because age would have increased.

still new on this forum , but will try to contribute as little as I can cos I have gained here too.

my advice ,though, I stand to be corrected by the elders.

@ 37 and 36 , even with two or more certificate(cima, BS , or any other short diploma course) would get you both say most 436-441 range. which is obviously the best option for you both at this stage. However ,such CRS won't guarantee you ITA.

And running a masters program might set u back by 10points due to increase in age and what's guarantee, that EE will still be operational by then . Remember , Election is fast approaching. Let's hope that the Liberals remain in power.

would say, You guys should start your evaluation ASAP. Then prepare for ielts simultaneously ,you can enter pool with this and hope to get PNP invite .
while u start preparing for a diploma program that can help increase your CRS .which will help boast your chances under PNP route.

sponsor a younger family member(sibling) whose odds of getting ppr before December or early nect year , with that you are guaranteed another 15points. if you add it to your ielts +2or more cert. you might just get enough points to beat the cut off .

LONG VERSION

BEFORE 2018 - BACKGROUND
I was your average, not-very-passionate, but quietly loyal Nigerian. All I wanted to do was make it here and go for holidays abroad. As my friends were jetting out one by one, I watched with a weird mixture of envy and disdain.

As time went by, however, my career stalled. Without professional growth, how will I be able to take care of my growing family? I work in a company in a specialized manufacturing industry. After ten years of work experience, I could no longer grow in the company and in a small, specialized industry I could not go to another company.

I really tried to transfer to another industry. I did an MBA, became a PMP, and registered with several professional bodies. Filled my CV. Applied, applied and applied for jobs. No dice. I still felt I could wing it though.

October 2017, while chatting with a childhood friend based Japan, he asked if I wasn't interested in traveling out. I told him not really. He then said Canada was the place to be and he would send me the process. I said ok, just to humor him. He forwarded a mail explaining Canada Express Entry and listed in it all the steps I was to take. I opened the mail, scanned the contents, smiled to myself, closed it and forgot about it.

JANUARY – MARCH 2018: DECISION TO IMMIGRATE
Fast forward to January 2018, my job came under threat. With bleak prospects everywhere, I realized I had to make a radical decision and start my career all over again. And then came the still, small voice, if I was starting all over again, why don’t I start all over again in another country?
I remembered my friend’s email and started research. Had a discussion with Mrs Joo and so the decision was made.

All the research I did showed that in 2017, ITA draw points were low and I could get ITA with 420s. With my MBA and IELTS alone, I could get that range, so it was decided that I would be the PA and only assess myself.

As NASU was still on strike, ECA was out of it. Registered for FutureLearn IELTS course (free option). Tried booking for IELTS only to realize that I needed a valid passport. Mine having expired. This was when passports were taking months to get. Found out that I could get one day passport at Ado-Ekiti. Took time off, traveled and got it. Booking for IELTS was tough as people were booking fast as the exam fee was increasing from 65k to 75k in May. I could only get April 4 test day at Port Harcourt. I booked it fast.

APRIL - AUGUST 2018: GOING SPOUSE UNACCOMPANIED
BC changed my exams days 3x within one week to the exam. The last one was a day to the exam. This was also a time when work situation was dire. There was no way to get leave and to go AWOL was to basically forfeit the job. So I gave up the exam. Rebooked for May 24.

When NASU resumed, I started the ECA with WES. I used my statement of result.
With extra time to prepare for IELTS, I used IELTS Ryan materials on youtube a lot. Downloaded and used a lot of IELTS practices apps on android (I don’t remember which. Uninstalled them after the exam). I also completed the Road to IELTS materials provided. Results came ok.

IELTS: May 24, 2018 L8 R9 S7.5 W7

While reading more, I found out that draws were consistently high in 2018 and there was no way I was getting an ITA with my projected score. Having gone far in the process, the options were to wait and encourage my spouse to start the process or to forge ahead and let my spouse find her way later. I felt so pressured and chose the latter. Told Mrs Joo the new reality. That she needed to do IELTS and ECA, but she could do them later. Start EE by 2019 as a PA. I was going on ahead. No delay.

It was at this period of confusion, I came across this thread online. Asked my first question and got an answer from @Ethelia. It didn’t help though as I asked the wrong question. Started reading through the different parts.

I was expectant. My ECA was due on August 21 and there was to be draw, draw #97 – August 22, 2018.

AUGUST – NOVEMBER 2018: GOING SPOUSE ACCOMPANIED
However, by August 18, I changed my mind. I had come to realize that I had made the wrong decision. I needed my family with me. With a new baby on the way, I couldn't leave Mrs Joo alone. It also helped that the threat at work had reduced.

After the normal delays on verification, WES ECA came out ok. Masters or Professional degree on August 21, 2018.

EE profile created: August 22, 2018.

Work on spouse ECA and IELTS began.

Spouse ECA was also with WES. They added the WAEC requirement just as I was about to begin the process. ECA came out October 10.

Little Joo in the womb wasn't easy on his mother and so my wife struggled to prepare for IELTS. But thank God, the exam came (September 29) and she added enough points to make our CRS score 447. The TRF arrived on October 15. I was about to update our profile with the TRF against a draw on Wednesday 17th, when I checked online and saw that there was a surprise Monday draw. Missed.

We met draw #103 on October 29th. ITA finally arrived on October 31st late at night. Saw it on the morning of November 1st. Since all the documents were ready. Filled the application, uploaded the supporting documents and submitted.

AOR: November 1, 2018

Other details:

Following @glitteringstar(2)'s steps, I opened folders for all the possible placeholders, so I could be ready for the big day. I placed the documents there as I was getting them.

Folders: Biographical datapage of passports, Birth certificates (for the children), Client Information (LOE), Digital photos, Marital status documents, Medical examination confirmation, Other Name (for spouse's change of name), Police certificates, Proof of funds, Proof of studies and Proof of work experience

POF: Settlement funds was 66% TBills, 24% savings account. 10% was Pension Fund but was there to act as a buffer. I had support from my Dad so I had a gift deed done. I didn’t submit it, but it was there as an insurance in case I got an ADR to prove the provenance of my finds. I actually named the folder I put it: in case I got an ADR.
I forecasted I would be moving money around after AOR and so included 3 other accounts to the application. They were mostly empty, but I didn’t want to be caught surprised in case I got a request for updated POF and the money was in an account I had not presented before. I got the inspiration from @vcole who include all of her own bank accounts. Got reference letter in CIC format from Stanbic. For the other banks, I used the introductory letters and letters of non-indebtedness provided.

Employment: I have worked in the same company since graduation in different roles under the similar NOC. The JD the company provided was a bit generic and it was basically the same for all the roles. I worked on it to reflect the actual duties I did. @Newmum0615 (God bless you!) proof-read it and did some fine-tuning. I presented to HR and gbam it was rejected. World people.
The HR Director noted that it was not in the company’s format and asked the HR Manager to rework it. It stayed with that dude for a month. He always said he was busy. I tried to reason with him without tipping my hand. For where. At the end, he reverted to the old format. Did minor tweaking for all roles I’ve had at the company. It was so disheartening. I was able to convince him to include a line under each role highlighting the different staff I supervised in each role (officers, supervisors and production staff). That differentiated it a bit and showed progression.

3 of the roles were NOC 0. 2 were NOC A. In my EE profile, I had filled the 3 NOC 0 roles for my work experience. I chose the longest role (6 years) as my primary NOC. The reference letter covered 4 of the roles. One was discarded as I was told they don't give reference letter for NYSC. The reference letter was 5 pages long. I submitted the single reference letter in each of the 3 placeholders for work history. In my personal history, I included ALL of the 5 roles I have served in the company.

Education: ECA report, Degree certificates, IELTS TRF. I uploaded statement of result for my MBA as the certificate was not ready and Uniben was demanding for another 2yrs school fees (after convocation and no fault of mine) in order to issue the certificate. It gave me concern, but I relaxed when I re-checked Canada.ca and only saw “proof of studies” with certificates only as an example.
Spouse’s Education: ECA report, Degree certificates, IELTS TRF. Also statement of result for her M.Sc.

Spouse Work Experience: We worked at the same company, so I collected a reference letter for her at the same time. I didn’t remove her work history. I submitted it since I already had it.

Medicals: Done at Q-Life. Very seamless process.

Police certificate: I printed out the form before the day. We did our fingerprints and filled our forms. On the day, met ASP Moshood and gave him the filled forms. Went smoothly.

Photos: Studio 24, Ikeja. Turned out to be a waste of money as we did it early. The photos expired before PPR. We could have used normal digital photos and edited them.

Legal document for name change: Submitted one & the same person affidavit for spouse.

LOE: None

In preparing for the application, I downloaded forms IMM008 Generic, IMM5669e Schedule A and IMM5406e Additional Family Information as these are the forms in the eAPR.

NOVEMBER 2018 – APRIL 2019
I'm the kind of guy who watches CNN for 8hrs even though it is the same news being repeated every 15mins, so I made a decision to check my email and profile only once a day in the morning from Tuesday to Saturday.

Almost 2 weeks after submission I realized that after all the preparation, I did not include anything “Organization” in our personal history i.e. I didn’t include any organization we had belong to. To cover all bases, I drafted a LOE listing the organizations I and my wife had belonged to over the past ten years, signed it and scanned. Raised a CSE on Nov 13, 2018 and attached it.

MEP/BIL was on November 30. Got a ghost email for UCI numbers on December 1. Did biometrics on December 7 and it was completed a few hours later.

The background check changed to IP1 on December 14. Raised a CSE to know VO on December 22nd. Got a reply on 24th.

Raised another CSE for status on February 4, 2019 and got a generic reply. Ordered GCMS notes on February 4. It arrived on April 13, 2019 (took 69 days).

The wait ehn. It is only when you submit your application that you can understand. Then everyone around you starts getting PPR here and there and you wonder what is wrong with your application. You apply for GCMS notes, it doesn't arrive even as people around you are getting theirs after 2 weeks. You start wondering what message God could be trying to pass along.

Then you get your notes and find out that eligibility has been passed since December 13. Warristhis!!!!!!!!

Little Joo came in February. I took the chap and his mama to NIS for passport within a week. There was complaint about unavailability of booklet, but God used a lady at the office to help out. Passport came out within a week. When I made a slip about the baby and passport on the thread, @mummychichi reached out. Thanks for that. Booked and did medicals with IOM (Qlife was telling me to wait till May).

Raised CSE to add newborn little Joo on March 19, 2019. A reply came on March 21 that I should mail Ottawa directly. Did so promptly.

Got an ADR upload little Joo's documents on March 22, 2019. Submitted documents on March 23. ADR profile changed to Not Applicable on March 25. Got a ghost email on March 26, 2019. Found out it was for UCI no the baby. His medicals passed on March 27.

Another period of waiting.

Sunday morning, April 14, I had an unusual urge to check my profile. I had not checked it on Sunday before. Checked and voila, it is IP2.

Ready for Visa / Prêt pour Visa landed gently at 2:13 AM, April 16, 2019 (it was dated April 15).

Thanks to all of you in the thread for keeping me sane. Answering your questions does me a world of good. It satisfies my need to poke my nose into other people's business, spend hours searching for information online and render (un)solicited advice. Thanks to @Tojued and @Ifeoma77 for the banter. @dumprep, I miss your posts. Thanks to @raphrulz for reaching out and the friendship. A special thanks to the November AOR whatsapp group @ramj, @jholarharde and all you lovely people whose NL monikers I don't know.

I have a dream that all of our hopes and dreams about Canada will come true.

See I’m a big tall guy so you can imagine how both traumatic it was for me and hilarious it would have been for my wife hearing a large thumb then turning around and seeing me on the floor struggling to get on my feet.

Accompanying spouse LRWS 7.5, 9.0,7.0,7.0
My pride was a bit hurt because after my fall and level of preparedness I thought I was going to score more than I did especially in listening as I was acing the practice test on YouTube. Kudos to wifey who did tremendously well despite her very busy work schedule.

ECA (WES AND MCC)
For me it was a breeze because of my UK degree I used WES. This in the days before the needed WAEC too before assessment can be done.

My UK PCC was gotten in December 2018 but was used for the ITA gotten in October 2018.

Congratulations! May Canada favor you!

Goodluck.

Congrats on your great sacrifice

Biko, is this how it was doing you when you submitted yours?

Ha! You have even submitted your application? I'm still waiting on IELTS to come through, yet I've been checking apartments in Alberta. The dream is valid! Very valid. grin

Lol.. This group is my 'laughter tonic' after a stressful day.. Meanwhile, for those of us with no job and are Post-AOR, it's like knowingly or unknowingly checking EE profile twice a day is the new job . Is that the way it works?

Congrats Joo2018

Don't worry, we'll come back with our $265,000 to rebuild Nigeria.
