Chapter Sixteen 1. Now the Ummayads gathered together in Damascus and said, we have gone to sleep. We have allowed Abdullah the son of al-Zubayr to be a caliph for long. 2. Now let us seek after the brother of Muawiyah, who is the second son of Yazid and make him the caliph. So they sought after Khalid, the brother of Muawiyah who was poisoned to death. 3. Now there were some who said, Khalid will not become the caliph because he was born illegitimately in the day when Yazid his father went into the house of a prostitute. 4. Then the prostitute, knowing that Yazid was the heir to the seat of the caliph, kept the pregnancy and had a child. 5. Then she brought him to Yazid when the child was still a baby. Then Yazid married her. 6. Now the descendants of Abu Sufyan the father of Muawiyah argued, saying, Khalid is in all ways qualified to become the caliph because Yazid his father eventually married the prostitute and took in her son. 7. Now many of the Ummayads rejected Khalid as the caliph, saying, he cannot handle it. So they made Marwan the son of Al-Hakam the caliph. So the descendants of Abu Sufyan lost the seat of the caliphate to another family in the Ummayads tribe. 8. Now the descendants of Abu Sufyan hated the new caliph such that they posed resistance to him. However, Marwan was advised to take the wife of Yazid as wife so that by maternal link, the Abu Sufyans would continue to claim the seat of the caliph. 9. Now Marwan said, I shall not do it. But a man named Yesuf who was his uncle called him aside and said, you know how much wealth is in the lineage of Abu Sufyan. 10. Have they not amassed much wealth? From Muawiyah to Yazid his son, then to Muawiyah the son of Yazid, then to the wives and other children of Yazid there is wealth. 11. Now Marwan said, may Allah give you more wisdom, Yesuf. For when I was the secretary under Uthman the third caliph, I knew how many dirhams and how many dinars are embezzled by Uthman. 12. I knew how much money Uthman collected from Egypt and other nations under his caliphate. 13. Therefore I will approach Hashim Fakhita the prostitute who became the wife of Yazid and marry her. Then the family of Abu Sufyan shall no more see me as an enemy. 14. Then I shall also have access to the treasures amassed by the caliphs over time. 15. Now when Marwan approached Hashim Fakhita, she recognised him as the man who raped her when she was only five years old, but he did not recognise her. 16. Now Hashim Fakhita agreed to marry him, but she kept the thing she knew away from him. However, she told her sister Salimat about it, such that she hated Marwan because of that. 17. Now at a certain night, Hashim Fakhita summoned courage and called him. Then she said to him, Marwan son of Al-Hakam, I am the five-year old girl whom you raped in the days of our prophet Mohammed. This deed made me to become a prostitute until the days when Yazid impregnated me and made me his wife. 18. Now Marwan said, it is not my fault that I raped you, for the prophet commanded we sahaba(his followers) that we should sleep with little girls so that we could obtain more energy. 19. Therefore I took you by force, even as he did to Aisha before marrying her. Now be glad that you have me as a husband now. 20. Now Hashim Fakhita forgave Marwan that night, but while they slept, Salimat her sister sneaked into the room and held Marwan by the neck until she had killed him. 21. Then she fled. When Hashim Fakhita saw what was done, she remained on the bed with him, saying, Allah has rewarded him for his evil. 22. So Marwan died after ruling as a caliph for ten months and his son Abd Al-Malik whom he had named as his successor became the caliph in Damascus. 23. Then the family of a man named Talha said, surely this is the judgement of Allah upon Marwan for killing Talha our person unjustly. 24. May he not see aljana, but let hell be his portion. |

Justice310: I get where you are going. This is going to be an interesting discussion. If you're expecting us to use the old testament as a basis for our discussion, then there are certain things we need to consider. The ancient Jews attributed everything Good and Evil as an act of "Jehovah" then at some point in time, their thinking somewhat changed from that to Good comes from God and Evil things come from Satan... Then fast forward to the new testament, Heavenly Father ( notice that Jesus never referred to God by any name but this - I stand to be corrected) now appears to be a loving and compassionate personality compared to the seemingly brute and no nonsense strict personality in the old testament. Now you might be wondering why I've said all these so far... The nature/personality of God does not change, rather it is humanity's perception and understanding of Him that changes over time. Let's use a basic example here. The way you see your Father as a child would most likely differ from the way you see him as an adult. He might appear harsh, strict or wicked in raising you up, but that's your understanding of him at that time given your limited understanding of his actions. But as you grow into a young adult, the way you both relate changes as you get to understand him better and vice-versa. Same applies with the way the Jews have come to understand the nature of God over time. 1 Like |

realmindz:To argue with religious folks, one must do away with logic, common sense, and facts. That's the only way one can reach an agreement with them, an agreement built on lies and deception. Such an argument is mostly a waste of time. Religionists, especially Christians, have mastered the ignoble acts of twisting facts to suit their parochial agenda and self-deception. realmindz: The Bible did not arrive by fax from Heaven or wherever. It was written by mere mortals with their understanding of truth at the time. Unfortunately, over the centuries it has been translated into various languages with errors and perhaps lies mixed with truth...watering down on its original contents... OtemAtum i understand the soul goes to the vally of death after losing the body. if this is true, why do ghosts still lives with us in the city, i've heard a story of someone who died and went on to live his life in another city. i think ghosts were supposed to remain in the vally of death till the time when they would be sent back to earth or the other world. why do we still see them around? |

Chapter Seventeen 1. Abd Al-Malik became the caliph in the 685CE when he was forty years old. 2. Now when Abd Al-Malik was declared the caliph in Damascus, he arose and said, Allah has ordained me the caliph. 3. I will fight and kill for Allah, the greatest. I will conquer lands and unite Islam. 4. Now in those days, many Islamic lands had pledged their allegiance to the son of al-Zubayr as the caliph. 5. Then Abd Al-Malik called together his counsellors and advisers and said, tell me, how shall we overthrow the caliph of Mecca? 6. Now they said to him, all Islamic lands will support anyone who could conquer Byzantium and reclaim many lands to Islam. 7. Therefore if you could resume the fight with Byzantium and conquer them, all Arabian lands, including Egypt, Medina and Mecca will give their allegiance to you and will no more support Abdullah the son of al-Zubayr. 8. For Muawiyah fought against this same Byzantium and failed, therefore if you could do so successfully, you shall be regarded as the caliph over Abdullah. 9. Now Abd Al-Malik said that it was a good idea, so he sent people to the capital city of the land to go and pay tribute to the emperoremperor Justinian and to spy the land. 10. Now when the people returned, they said, the people of Byzantium welcomed us very well. 11. They gave us free entry and free exit. They fed us well and took us to their emperor. 12. We have seen the strength of their warfare and we have seen their treasures also. 13. Now Abd Al-Malik was glad when he saw this. Then he said to his armies, go and prepare, for we shall attack them soon. 14. Now false report was sent to Justinian, saying, some men of your land have invaded Damascus and have set a part of it on fire. 15. Now Justinian sent 500 of his armies to Damascus, but the forces of Abd Al-Malik attacked them and captured them. 16. Then a message was sent to Justinian, saying, prepare for war with us, for your soldiers whom you sent did come to our land to cause trouble, but we have captured them. 17. Now Justinian sent fifty other people, saying, go and speak with the caliph of Damascus, saying, let not the truce between your land and our land be broken. 18. Rather, let us maintain the peace which we have maintained for about a decade now. 19. Now Abd Al-Malik caught the men and beheaded twenty-five of them. Then he sent their heads to Justinian through the other twenty-five, one man for one head. 20. And he sent through them, saying, this is how I shall cut off the heads and the armies in Sebastopolis and Islam shall spread. 21. We shall take all the lands which belong to you and the dominion of Allah our god shall spread further. 22. Now when Justinian saw what was done, he was enraged. Then he sent for the leader of his armies whose name was Leontios and said, go and prepare the army for a battle against the Ummayad clans in Damascus. 23. Now Abd Al-Malik appointed Mohammed his brother to lead the attack against the Byzantines. Then on the set day, Mohammed led the battle and fought against the Byzantines in Sebastopol is. 24. Now the Byzantines had relied upon Neboulos, who was a leader of twenty-five thousand armies of the Slavs. So Leontios allied with him to fight the Ummayads. 25. But Mohammed sent five men to Neboulos at night and they gave to him a letter, saying, if you will ally with us rather than with the Byzantines, we shall give you ten times more rewards than Justinian has promised you. 26. Are there not a hundred thousand dirhems kept for you, O Neboulos? You shall also be recognised as a great one among the Islamic people. 27. Now Neboulos, being enticed by the promised rewards went with them to see Mohammed. Then when they had spoken, he agreed with him and fought against the Byzantines. 28. Then the Byzantines were conquered in Sebastopol and its surroundings. Then the Ummayads captured many lands which the Byzantines had under their control earlier. 29. Now the thing which Abd Al-Malik achieved made many Islamic land to withdraw their support for Abdullah the son of al-Zubayr, saying, the Ummayads are note worthy to be recognised as the caliphs. 30. So Egypt, Iraq and even Medina began to see Abd Al-Malik as a more worthy caliph than Abdullah the son of Al-Zubayr. |

Chapter Eighteen 1. Now while Abd Al-Malik had been well established, he made himself ready to attack Musab, the governor of Bosra. 2. Now in those days, the Kharijites continued to weaken the strength of Musab, for they attacked his forces every now and then. 3. Therefore Abd Al-Malik rested, saying, I will strike Musab at the time when he would have no strength at all. 4. Let the Kharijites continue to spend their resources and energy while I preserve mine. 5. Now Musab requested for help from Abdullah the son of al-Zubayr who was thecaliph in Mecca, but he said, I am wary of Abd Al-Malik, for he will not refrain from striking at any slight provocation. 6. Rather, go and get help from Egypt, for there are many supporters of my caliphate there, whom Abd al-Rahman headed, for I heard that he has returned to Egypt. 7. Now when Musab sent his men to Egypt to get help from Abd Al-Rahman the son of Utba al-Firhi who was the former governor of Egypt, they discovered that he had not returned to Egypt and the Egyptians had accepted the caliphate of the Ummayads. 8. Now Abd al-Malik, the caliph came against Musab and conquered him. Then Musab was killed. 9. When Abdullah the son of al-Zubayr knew that his brother had been killed, he sought by all means to strengthen his force, so he allied with two non-islamic lands. 10. However, his strength was not enough to resist the Ummayads, who had obtained Iraq and had also gained more supporters. 11. Now Abd Al-Malik appointed al-Hajjaj, the son of Yusuf and charged him to go to Mecca to besiege the city until Abdullah the son of al-Zubayr would surrender. 12. Now Abdullah had appointed his sons Hamza and Khubayb, saying, lead the forces to fight against the forces of the Ummayads. 13. Make sure you push them out of Mecca. Do not spare them. 14. Now when the Ummayads forces remained in Mecca, the activities of the city ceased and there was hunger in Mecca, such that the common people protested and surrendered to the Ummayads. 15. Now on the streets, many began to say, Abd al-Malik is our caliph, Allah is great. 16. Now when Asma, the mother of Abdullah heard the chants of the people and also the news of the surrender of his grandchildren to the Ummayads forces, she went to her son and said, go and surrender yourself to them. 17. They have spared your sons, they will spare you also. Do not be stubborn, for Mecca has been under siege for 186 days already. 18. Now Abdullah said, my father al-Zubayr have said to me when I was a child, do not surrender to your enemies. Fight them even if you will lose to them. 19. Those who surrender are cowards, but those who die in battle are the brave. Therefore I shall not surrender to my enemy, rather, I will kill some and get killed. 20. So the son of al-Zubayr went and confronted the Ummayad forces. Then he was killed. Then Mecca fell into the hands of the Ummayads and Abd Al-Malik was recognised as the sole caliph in all Islamic provinces in those days. |

Chapter Nineteen 1. Now Abd Al-Malik had established a great dome in Jerusalem, which was called the Dome of the Rock. He had also made many other structures in Jerusalem in those days. 2. Now both Abd Al-Malik and Abd Al-Aziz his brother, who was the governor of Egypt were very much loved by the Islamic people in those days. 3. However, the Shiites said of Abd Al-Malik, he is a hypocrite. Why does he enrich Jerusalem and abandon Mecca and Medina, the homes of Prophet Mohammed? 4. They also said of Abd Al-Aziz, he is a thief because he has enriched his own family in Egypt. 5. Now Abd Al-Aziz, the governor of Egypt called together some people in Egypt and said, after me, let my son be the governor of Egypt. 6. Now when Abd Al-Malik had heard the decision of his brother, he also called together some men in Damascus and named al-Walid his son as his successor. 7. Now when Abd Al-Aziz heard what his brother had done, he went to him and said, why did you name your son al-Walid as the successor to the caliphate? 8. Did Marwan our father not name me as your successor? Why do you disrespect the decision of our father? 9. Then Abd Al-Malik said, you caused it all when you named al-Asbagh your son the successor after you. Do you not know that such decision is meant for the caliph to be made? 10. I am the caliph, therefore I should be the one to make a choice of the governor and not you. But since you have taken such decision, I also made this decision and nothing can reverse it. 11. Now Abd Al Aziz left his brother in anger, promising to give him a fight for naming his son the successor to the caliphate instead of himself. 12. Now while Abd Al Aziz had departed, Abd Al Malik said, is it not if you live longer than me that you can have a chance of becoming the caliph after me? 13. So Abd Al-Malik sent a killer to his brother's household, saying, kill them silently, one after the other. Kill al-Asbagh first, then kill his father. 14. Now the name of the killer was al-Nasir, who was of the tribe of Qays. Now al-Nasir became a messenger in the court of Abd Al-Aziz in Egypt. Then he behaved very well such that al-Asbagh the heir to the governorship seat admired him, because he prayed in the mosque many times of the day. 15. Then al-Asbagh called him and said, what is your name? Then he said, my name is Mohammed. Now al-Asbagh trusted him so much that he allowed him to serve him food. 16. Then on a certain day, al-Nasir poisoned the food of al-Asbagh such that he ate it and fell sick. Then he died. 17. Now while they buried al-Asbagh, his killer wept so much and rolled on the floor, saying, let me be buried with my master. How shall I live when my master is dead? 18. Let me die with the good man who loved me so much until his death. 19. Now when Abd Al-Aziz had asked Umar his son, saying, who is that man who cried and rolled on the floor, he said, that is the messenger of al-Asbagh. 20. Then Abd Al-Aziz said, surely he is a good man. I will promote him. 21. So he made al-Nasir his own chief messenger and no one could come to him except after first seeing al-Nasir. 22. Now shortly after, al-Nasir went in to the king and strangled him while he was asleep, but no one knew what was done. 23. Now after the governor had been buried, al-Nasir went to Abd Al-Malik to receive his reward. Then the caliph said, you have done well in putting my enemy to silence. 24. So he rewarded al-Nasir and sent him away, saying, you may go and establish yourself. So al-Nasir went to Yemen to settle down. 25. Then Abd Al-Malik made his son Abd-Allah the governor of Egypt, but the children of Abd Al-Aziz were angry at the decision. 26. Now shortly after the death of Abd Al Aziz, a great illness fell on Abd Al-Malik because he was full of regret in the latter days for killing his own brother. 27. Then Abd Al-Malik died, being fifty-nine years old and his son al-Walid became the caliph. |

Chapter Twenty 1. Now Abd Allah, the son of Abd Al-Malik declared, saying, let Arabic language be the official language of Egypt rather than Greek and Coptic. 2. Now there were some Greco-Egyptians who expressed sadness at the news. When Abd Allah had found them out, he took them and hanged them to death. 3. Also in Syria and in Iraq, the Greeks who rejected the idea of changing the official language to Arabic were killed in large number by Al-Hajjaj who was the goernor and the head of the armies of Iraq and also the right-hand man of caliph al-Walid the son of Abd Al Malik. 4. Now a man named Demitrius who was a leader of the Greeks in Iraq gathered some people and said to them, we shall not let Arabic language take over Iraq. 5. Let us therefore protest this, for we watch how they changed our coins to Arabic, to that which has the inscription of their Quran, saying that Mohammed is the messenger of Allah, sent with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over every other religion. 6. They kill people of other religions without having any regards. Now let us go and protest this, for we shall not watch Islam rule us forcefully. 7. Now when al-Hajjaj heard this, he took hold of Demitrius and all his men and brought them into his court. Then he said, I heard that you revolt against the rule of the government. 8. Who are you to speak against Islam? What have we achieved yet that you grumble about? 9. Now hear this, our mission is to force all humans into practising our religion, from Asia to Europe, even to every part of Africa. 10. We have killed thousands of people, but we will not stop at this until every part of the world has been Islamized. 11. Now you and all your followers shall be part of those who shall lose their lives because of Islam, for our religion is a religion of no alternatives except death. 12. Accept Islam and live, refuse Islam and die. 13. Now Al-Hajjaj took Demitrius and his one thousand five hundred and fifty-one followers and slaughtered them with the daggers like rams. 14. Then he allowed their bloods run around for flies to perch on them. Then he said, cut their corpses to pieces and fry them for food. 15. So Al-Hajjaj invited great Islamic leaders, including the caliph Al-Walid, Abd Allah the governor of Egypt, al-Hassan, the adviser to the governor of Egypt and many others. 16. Then they fed on the flesh of the Greeks which they had killed, saying, the enemies of Islam shall be food to our stomachs. 17. Now al-Hajjaj and al-Walid worked together to expand Islam, fighting and killing many people for the sake of their religion. 18. Now in the 100th year of the beginning of the calendar of Islam, which was the 718C.E, two million, five hundred and fifty four thousand, two hundred and eighteen people had already been killed for the sake of Islamic religion, yet the Muslims did not cease to kill people daily after then. 1 Like |

Chapter Twenty-One 1. Now in the days of al-Walid, many mosques were built and some churches were turned to mosques also. 2. Many small mosques were expanded and the mosques which were in Medina were made to function well. 3. Al-Walid also committed himself to minting of money as his father did in his days. 4. He relied on al-Hajjaj to a great extent and they worked together to expand the territories of Islam. 5. Now when al-Hajjaj died, al-Walid fell on his knees and wept. Then he said, al-Hajjaj the hero has fallen. 6. The east wind and the west wind shall sing your praise before Allah. The birds of the air shall carry your name from place to place in their wings until you shall be known all over the earth. 7. Al-Hajjaj the faithful friend of my father and my own protector, my own strength, arise again and do not lie flat. 8. The war is coming close, get on your feet and fight as you always do. Al-Hajjaj the son of Yusuf, arise and make war for Islam. 9. Fight the fight of Jihad. Take the Christians, the Zoroastrians, the Jews, the Buddhists and the Hinduists by surprise and expand Islam upon them. 10. Now al-Walid fell sick and broke down because of the death of al-Hajjaj whom his soul had been entwined to. 11. Then diseases began to manifest, first on his forehead on which he touched the ground to pray to Allah. Then he had more diseases on his skin. 12. Then he said, take me to Dayr Murran to rest there while Abd al-Aziz my son sits on the seat of the caliph till I come. 13. Now al-Walid did this so that he could make his son the caliph after him, because he knew that he would die at Dayr Murran. 14. For his brother Sulaiman was the successor to the seat of the caliph, according to the arrangement of their father, Abd al-Malik, who had said, after you al-Walid, let your brother Sulaiman become the caliph. 15. But al-Walid wanted his son to be the caliph after him, so he said to him, sit as the caliph until I return from Dayr Murran. 16. So al-Walid was taken to Dayr Murran and his son represented him. Now when Sulaiman heard that Abd al-Aziz the son of Abd al-Walid had been put on the seat to represent his father, he went and made enquiries to know if his brother had died. 17. Now al-Walid heard the deed of Sulaiman, then he called to Umar his brother-in-law, who was also the son of Abd al-Aziz his cousin. 18. Then he asked Umar, saying, I heard how Sulaiman my brother is coming close to take the seat of the caliph. What have you heard? 19. Now Umar said, it is true great caliph. Sulaiman has consulted all the powerful people of Islam who witnessed the event in which your father Abd al-Malik named your brother as your successor. 20. Now all these people are behind him, saying, we will make sure that we make it right by giving Sulaiman his entitlement. 21. Now al-Walid said, I know that I will die soon, but let no one know of my death so that my son Abd al-Aziz could rule after me until he is strong to defend himself against Sulaiman my brother. 22. Now al-Walid died and Umar arranged for his burial, inviting only fifteen faithfuls of al-Walid, having charged them to keep his death a secret. 23. However, one of the fifteen people named Rahman the son of Sadiq was a friend of Sulaiman, therefore he told Sulaiman about the death of al-Walid his brother. 24. Now Sulaiman went and told the powerful people of Islam, saying, my brother is dead but they hide this information from the public. 25. Arise and let us go to Dayr Murran to see if it is so. Now in the second month after the death of al-Walid, Sulaiman went to Dayr Murran with twenty powerful people of Islam, including the governor of Egypt, the governor of Medina and also the king of Yemen. 26. Then they confirmed the death of al-Walid, but they said, let us not make a noise about it, so that our religion would not be put to shame by the pagans and the Christians. 27. For this is an example of a struggle for power in a shameful way and also an abomination for the dead to rule the living for days. 28. So they went to Damascus with Sulaiman and made him the caliph there, instead of Abd al-Aziz the son of al-Walid. |

Chapter Twenty-Two 1. Now when Sulaiman became the caliph, he was expected to relocate from Palestine where he was the governor over, to reign from Damascus, which was the head city in Syria. 2. Now Sulaiman sought the counsel of his adviser Raja and he was advised not to shift base. 3. So Sulaiman remained in the capital city of Palestine called Ramla in those days. And from there he oversaw the affairs of other lands which were under the rule of Islam. 4. Now Raja advised Sulaiman saying, if you do not want to die earlier than your time, why do you surround yourself with the friends of al-Walid whom he had appointed as governors and the executors of his commands? 5. Although al-Walid your brother is dead, yet he lives through his son Abd al-Aziz. And if there are some of these people exposing the secret of your government to Abd al-Aziz, then your reign will not last. 6. For Abd al-Aziz and his people will come and overtake you in a day which you do not expect. 7. So Sulaiman heed the warning of Raja and removed many officials of Al-Walid in Iraq, Yaman and in many other Islamic territories. 8. Now a man named Yasmin had declared five years before the beginning of the reign of Sulaiman that Byzantium shall be totally conquered by a caliph whose name shall be the same of the name of a prophet. 9. Now Raja went to Sulaiman and said, great caliph, have you thought about that prophecy which was made in Syria five years earlier? 10. The prophet Yasmin does not prophesy anything without fulfillment. Therefore arise and make war with Byzantium and you shall be victorious. 11. You shall conquer Constantinople and take the land captive. Then Islam shall expand further and your caliphate shall never be forgotten in history. 12. Now Sulaiman said, it is the truth that I bear the name of a prophet of the Quran, but do you think that this prophecy shall be fulfilled? 13. Now Raja said, if our prophet Mohammad did not give it a trial to begin this religion, shall we have anything called Islam? 14. But because of the decision which he made in those days, we now have Islam, which is even more powerful than Zoroastrianism. 15. Only Christianity wields more power than us these days, but if we continue to fight Jihad, we shall overtake it someday. 16. Now Sulaiman the great one, give it a trial and let us see how Allah will come to our aid. 17. Now Sulaiman called Maslama and Sulaiman, the son of Mu'ad and instructed them to get ready for a siege on Constantinople which was the capital city of Byzantium. 18. Now while the troops of the Arabians encamped in the lands around Byzantium, they were attacked by the Byzantines and many of them were killed. 19. Many of their ships were burnt up also and they began to lose their strength. 20. When Sulaiman, the caliph heard the report of the battle, he was cold. Then he began to fall sick. 21. Now in those days, during winter, there was snow all over the place and the Ummayad armies began to lack food. Then they began to die of cold and hunger. 22. Now Sulaiman the caliph was very sick such that he had to name a successor after him. Now he called on his adviser, Raja, saying, who shall I name my successor? Should I not name Ayyub my first son the caliph after me? 23. Now Raja said, you know that many of the armies are friends to Umar your cousin and they will be loyal to him over Ayyub your son who is even sick at the moment. 24. Remember that the caliphate should have been bestowed on Abd al-Aziz, the father of this Umar in those days, but he died before your father died. 25. Now if you name him your successor, he will conquer the Byzantines and it shall be for your honour, but if you name anyone else, then the Ummayad armies who are currently in the field would be weak in mind. 26. Then they shall withdraw from the battle and the Byzantines shall become victorious. 27. Now Sulaiman did not heed the advice of Raja this time, rather, he said, I will not agree with you this time, Raja. 28. Now Raja went to see Umar secretly. Then he said to him, I am working currently on your request that I should persuade Sulaiman to name you as his successor. 29. He is very ill right now, as well as Ayyub his first son. Now I will go in to Ayyub and kill him, so that the caliph might reconsider his decision. 30. Now Raja went in to Ayyub on his sick bed at dusk. Then he pressed his neck until he had breathed his last. Then he went out of the room carefully. 31. Now when the nurse went in to see Ayyub, they found him dead. Then he was buried and his father wept for him. 32. Now Sulaiman said, I will name Dawud my son the successor to my seat, perhaps he shall become the caliph whom the prophet had prophesied to conquer Byzantium. 33. For truly he bears the name of a prophet in the Quran. Was Dawud not a prophet, who was even the father of the wise Sulaiman? 34. Now when Raja heard him, he said, you and I know that Dawud is in the middle of a great battle at the moment and there is no assurance that he would return. 35. Therefore let us look elsewhere and name Umar the caliph, because he is a good man who fears Allah and one whom the people love so much. 36. Now while Sulaiman delayed in naming the successor, Raja paid two men, named Hashim and Kazim to bear false witness. 37. Now the two men came in to Sulaiman, dressed like the Ummayad soldiers. Then they said to him, your son Dawud has been killed on the battle field. 38. The Byzantines have taken away his corpse, else we would have him brought to you. 39. Now Sulaiman was very weak when he had heard the news and his health condition became worse. 40. Then on his dying bed, he quickly called for the presence of some of the important Islamic people including Raja, then he said, let Umar the son of Abd al-Aziz be the caliph after me and my brother Yazid shall be his successor. Umar is my cousin and I know his strength. 41. Let him lead Islam to victory and conquer every land on earth until all lands and all nations on earth has been islamized. 42. Now Sulaiman died and Umar, the son of Abd-al Aziz became the caliph after him. |

Chapter Twenty-Three 1. Now Umar declared, saying, I Umar, the son of Abd al-Aziz and the great grandson of caliph Umar, who was the second caliph in the history of Islam, shall direct Islam like a true muslim. 2. I shall extend the hand of friendship to many nations and win their hearts to Islam. I shall do all things according to the laws of Islam which prophet Mohammad has given us. 3. Now when Umar had gathered his assistants, he said to them, let us henceforth fight our battles secretly so that the enemies would not know the extent of our strength. 4. Let us not go all out to fight Byzantium anymore, rather let us terrorise them according to the obligation of Jihad. 5. Now the sayings of Umar was accepted by all his governors, generals and aides. Then they withdrew their troops who were in Byzantium, for they were already losing the battles. 6. Now Umar wrote letters to many nations of the world, including China, Japan, Greece and even the Romans, saying, check Islam and see for yourself if it is not a great religion. Examine it to see if it is true. 7. Now when Gregory the christian pope had received and read the letter which Umar had sent, he called his colleagues and laughed, saying, this caliph is writing to convince me. We know that our religion Christianity is built upon the false character Jesus and we also know that their religion Islam is built upon a false god Allah. Therefore what profit shall it do us to leave our falsehood for another? 8. So let everyone enjoy the falsehood invented by his own people and let their own falsehood control their own minds only while our own control our minds. 9. Now Umar called a feast to celebrate the 100th year of the existence of Islam on earth. And many people from far and wide entered Ramla to celebrate the feast. Then Umar invited many to the mosque called al-Abyad, which he had begun to develop for such purpose. 10. For Umar had calculated that he would have become the caliph at the 100th year of the existence of Islam, which was the 718th C.E because of his closeness with Raja, who was the one who made it possible for him. 11. Now Umar said, I have worked upon this mosque by the revelation of Allah to restrict all whirlwinds and earthquakes and all forms of natural disasters, according to the wisdom of Allah. 12. Let the Muslims gather in Ramla every 100 years to celebrate the anniversary of Islamic religion in this mosque. 13. Now it came to the hearing of Umar that some Christians had claimed that the land upon which the construction of the mosque was made belonged to them. 14. Now this claim was the truth, for in the days when Sulaiman the former caliph set his eyes upon the mosque, it was owned by a group of Christians called the Julian. 15. For the christian group had intended to make a small church on the site, for they had kept some building materials there already. 16. But when Sulaiman, who was the governor of Palestine in those days, had relocated to Ramla and made it the capital city, he discovered the land and took it from the christian group and sent them away from the place. 17. Now while the 100th anniversary of Islam continued in the mosque called al-Abyad, Umar sent his people, saying, go and fetch the Christians who claimed that this site belonged to them. 18. So thirteen people were brought before Umar. Then he said, do you people have the gut to claim the possession of Allah? 19. Let Allah slaughter his slave if I, Umar the son of Abd Al-Aziz do not slaughter you and share your flesh among the people these days? 20. So Umar called the slaughterers and they secretly divided the flesh of the thirteen Christians among the dignitaries of Islam who fed on them, for most of them had learnt how to feed on the flesh of fellow human beings during the battle period at Constantinople, when they ate themselves when there was lack of food supply. 21. Now the names of the thirteen Christians who were murdered were Agabus, Titus, Timon, Marcus, Joseph, John, Simon, Thomas, Williams, Alexander, Lydia, Theophilus and Ananias. 22. Now by accident, some of the minor muslims who were around the mosque discovered that these dignitaries of Islam ate those who were killed, then there arose a great confusion among them. 23. And there was chaos, for people ran helter skelter, with the cry of abomination! Then a stampede occurred right around the mosque and two hundred and five people died while many were injured. 24. Now the caliph sought by all means to quell the news such that it was declared to the public that such occurrence did not happen but was just a rumour. 25. And anyone who mentioned it in those days was arrested and judged. |

Chapter Twenty-Four 1. Now Umar appointed men to go and gather the texts written about the early days of Islam together. 2. Now when they had brought the texts to him, he collected them and kept them in a place. 3. Then he hired some learned people, for himself was learned. Then he said to them, stay together in this place for the space of three months. 4. Then you shall unify the words of the hadiths which I have gathered together, for there are many contradictions in them. 5. They are not also up to date and there are many exaggerations in them. For when there is exaggerations more than is needed, the people would tend to disbelieving them. 6. I have sent letters to Tibet and to China, saying, consider Islam you people of Tibet, India and of China. 7. I have also sent letters to every nation in Europe and in Asia that they should consider Islam. 8. Therefore let the hadiths be well arranged, so that we might have something presentable to show to them. 9. For these lands are filled with very intelligent souls with many philosophers in them. 10. Now there were some group of Muslims who detested the things which Umar was doing, saying, he sends letter to other nations to accept Islam rather than taking the jihad to them. 11. This is not the way of Islam, for Mohammed our prophet did no such things, but he went after the lands and kingdoms and killed them, converting them to Islam forcefully. 12. He has also stopped the collection of tax from the Muslims who were not Arabs. 13. He has made them equal to us in status and in citizenship. Therefore let us kill him and take the position of the caliphate from him. 13. Now a man named Fatai was sent to go and poison him. So Fatai poisoned his food in pretence of supplying a herb which would make the caliph more intelligent. 14. Now the herb was used to prepare soup for the caliph. Then he ate and began to fall sick. Then Fatai said, the soup which you eat shall be your last upon the earth. 15. You went about to make yourself look nice to the unbelievers of other nations whom Allah our god has commanded us to kill and convert them by force. 16. You sell Islam cheaply to the kafirs. Therefore you are worthy of death. 17. Now Umar looked at Fatai and said, you have treaded a wrong path by touching he whom Allah have not touched. 18. Your place in the fire shall be reserved and I shall instruct the jinns to punish you ten times more than the unbelievers. 19. Now go out of this place, for your wickedness shall find you out itself and punish you. But as for me, I shall not revenge. 20. Now Umar coughed blood and died shortly after. Then Yazid the son of Abd al-Malik was made caliph instead of him. |

Chapter Twenty-Five 1. Now when Yazid came to power, Hisham went to him, saying, it was I who gave the late caliph a challenge and not you. 2. It was I who said that Umar, being the nephew of Abd al-Malik our father shall not be made the caliph, not you. 3. Therefore now that Umar is dead, I should be the caliph after him and not you, because you were silent in those days when Umar was made the caliph by Raja, but I fearlessly confronted them. 4. Now if you would let peace reign, leave the seat of the caliph for me and I shall name you my successor. 5. Now Yazid said, where have you heard that a younger brother is made caliph over his elder brother? It has never been done since the beginning of the caliphate and it shall never happen. 6. More so, Sulaiman our brother named me as the successor of Umar and that is why I am on the seat of the caliph today. 7. Now I shall advise you that you should go and wait for your time. For I have no intention of naming my child as my successor, but you. 8. Now Hisham went away from his brother in sadness and disappointment. Then Yazid continued to be the caliph. 9. Now Hisham went secretly to instigate the Kharijites against Yazid. For he wanted the position by all means. 10. Now the Kharijites attacked the men of Yazid suddenly and killed four hundred and fifteen of them. 11. Now Shawdhab, who was the leader of the Kharijites declared openly that he was the one who attacked and killed the men of the new caliph. 12. Now Shawdhab was sponsored secretly by Hisham, who wanted his brother dethroned. 13. Then Yazid, not knowing the intention of Hisham, called him and said, you will lead a troop to confront the Kharijites. 14. If you succeed, then shall I give you a great post in my administration. 15. Now Hisham led three thousand men from Syria to confront the men of Shawdhab who were the Kharijites. 16. Now Hisham himself turned them into the hands of their enemies and they were all captured. 17. Now Hisham did this so that he might weaken the hands of his brother and make him vulnerable, but Yazid sent Maslamah his brother to lead another troop. 18. Now this troop outnumbered the Kharijites three times, so they defeated them and killed Shawdhab their leader. 19. When Hisham knew this, he was sad. However, he went to the caliph and congratulated him for conquering his enemy. 20. Then he fell at his feet and wept, saying, forgive me my brother. I lost the fight against the Kharijites when you sent me against them. 21. I was not committed to the fight. I did not take charge of the fight with much seriousness, because I had some reservations about your caliphate. 22. But now I have come to the realisation that it is Allah alone that can enthrone and dethrone. He is the only one that can say, let this be the caliph and let that be the governor. 23. Therefore brother, I surrender to you. Forgive me of all my misdeeds in the past. 24. Now Yazid hugged his brother passionately and they both wept. Then Yazid called some important figures in Islam, then he announced Hisham as his successor in their presence. 25. After this, Hisham went secretly to Yazid, the son of al-Muhallab, a man who had rejected the caliphate of Yazid his brother. 26. Then he said to him, son of al-Muhallab, I have come to you so that I could be of help to you while you fight my brother, Yazid the caliph. 27. I will supply you with weapons with which you will attack his troops until you have conquered them. Then I shall be made caliph and I shall restore your position as the governor of Iraq. 28. Now Yazid the son of al-Muhallab was enticed by the offer, so he accepted it. 29. Now Hisham supplied him with many weapons, food and other things necessary for his men to last long in battle. 30. Then they went against the troops of Yazid the caliph and killed many of them in a sudden attack. 31. Now Yazid the caliph called Maslamah his brother and charge him to go after Yazid the rebel with full force and overcome him. 32. So Maslamah went again with fully prepared soldiers and they defeated the forces of Yazid the rebel and killed him. 33. Now the death of Yazid the son of al-Muhallab did not go down well with many leaders and governors, such that many of them began to oppose the caliph. 34. Now there was no peace within Islam in the days of Yazid the son of Abd al-Malik and Hisham his brother was secretly happy about that. |

Chapter Twenty-Six 1. Now Yazid died in the fourth year of his reign, which was the year 724 C.E. Then Hisham his brother was made the caliph. 2. Now many conflicts within Islam ceased when Hisham became the caliph, because he had hand in most of the civil conflicts within Islam during the reign of his brother. 3. Now Hisham strengthened his forces and they went into India to claim it. For in the days of Yazid his brother, the Hindus at Sindh had subdued the Arabs who had invaded their land. 4. However, Hisham regained Sindh and established Islam there after killing two thousand and fifty-eight Hindus as well as Singh the ruler of the land and forcefully Islamizing about four thousand of them. 5. Also, Hisham said, let many buildings be made for learning and let Islamic studies be well taught in the schools. 6. Let Jihad be returned to the consciousness of all Muslims and do not let all the unbelieving lands rest, especially Byzantine our rival. 7. I have hereby made Sharia effective these days and it shall not exempt anyone. Even if it is my wife who offends, she shall be judged by the law. 8. Even if my children offend, they shall not go scot free. Therefore let everyone do right to avoid a strict judgement. 9. Now in the fifth year of the reign of Hisham, his favourite wife Fausat went in to his chamber and stole a gold chain belonging to her husband. 10. Now when a search had been made, the gold chain was found with Fausat. Then the caliph kept her in a prison to await her judgement. 11. Now Maslamah the brother Hisham came to him secretly and said, brother, you have the power to exempt your favourite wife from being punished. 12. Now use your power and let her be set free, for I have made enquiries and it has been established that she does not know the force that pushed her to do such. 13. I have visited her parent's house to ask more about her and they had said, Fausat does not have any intention of stealing but there is a force which always pushed her into it. 14. Now if you will do good for her, let the exorcists be called and let them cast the jinns in her away so that she could be free, rather than for her to face the Sharia. 15. Now Hisham said, go and call the exorcists, but I shall not refrain from judging her thereafter. 16. Now two exorcists were called to cast the jinn in Fausat out. Then they recited a portion of the Quran while they sang and walked round her. 17. Now on the third day, when the exorcists came again to recite the Quran, they could not find the chapter and the verse which they would recite. 18. Now they were amazed, therefore they searched the body of Fausat and found the missing portion of the Quran in her dress. 19. Now the news got to the hears of Hisham, then he was angry at Fausat for not regarding the Quran. Therefore she was laid at the seat of judgement and was judged according to the Sharia. 20. Then her right hand was cut off, despite the pleas of Fausat who said that she did not have intention of stealing anything, but she did not know the force which had kept her stealing from her childhood till adulthood. |

Chapter Twenty-Seven 1. Now Hisham fought against the Byzantines continually, because of his great support for Jihad. 2. However, he did not receive total support from all factions of Islam as the Kharijites continued to attack his armies. 3. Also the Shiites detested him, for they had recognised Zayd, the great grandson of Ali as their own caliph. 4. Now Zayd was backed by many of the Shiites to go all out against Hisham and conquer him, so he began to gather armies together. 5. Now when it came to the notice of Hisham that Zayd gathered soldiers in Kufa, he sent for Yusuf the governor of Iraq, saying, I hear that you permit Zayd the grandson of Hussein to gather soldiers to plot against me. 6. Reports from Kufa coming to me did say that they are already about twenty thousand men in Kufa, getting ready to attack my caliphate. 7. Now if you do not find a way to stop this, I shall remove you from being the governor. 8. Now Yusuf the son of Umar al-Thaqafi declared, saying, Zayd grandson of Hussein, I have discovered your plot. 9. Now choose one of these, either war or you surrender to me. For I will send great number of armies to destroy you if you do not surrender peacefully. 10. But if you surrender without a fight, you shall be exiled from Kufa, but nothing evil shall happen to you. 11. Now Zayd chose to surrender peacefully because he knew that his army who were only about ten thousand men at that time cannot overcome the army of Yusuf who could be ten times more. 12. However, Zayd ordered that only five hundred of his men should surrender with him while the rest of them should remain hidden within Kufa. 13. Now when Zayd and five hundred of his men had appeared to Yusuf in al-Hira, he sent them out of Kufa, but he did not know that there were still many soldiers of Zayd in Kufa. 14. Now Zayd secretly returned to Kufa and continued to prepare his soldiers for a revolt. Now they struck suddenly in Kufa and killed many supporters of the Ummayad rule there. 15. Now when Hisham heard this, he was angry at Yusuf the governor of Iraq, saying, how did you let Zayd hit at you this way? 16. I shall take you out of the way and bring back Khalid to replace you as the governor of Iraq, because you are not competent to rule. 17. Now Yusuf begged the caliph and promised to conquer Zayd. So he commanded his soldiers to obstruct all the borders of Kufa so that Zayd would not escape. 18. Then he promised the Kufans, saying, whoever can bring Zayd to me, dead or alive, I shall reward him with a million dirhams. 19. Now when the Kufans heard the promise of the governor, they began to look out for Zayd, such that he began to be insecure. 20. Now some of his soldiers withdrew from him, looking for ways to kill him by themselves so that they could get the reward. 21. Now two of his soldiers killed him and ripped off his head. Then they took the head to Yusuf, the governor. Then he said, truly this is the head of the rebel. 22. Now he ordered the killing of the two soldiers too and took their heads also, saying, a traitor deserves death too. 23. Now he sent the head of Zayd to Hisham and Hisham confirmed that it was he. Then he ordered the head to be buried. 24. Now Yusuf the son of Umar al-Thaqafi began to detest Hisham from then on, because he had threatened to remove him from his seat when Zayd revolted. 25. Then he resolved to secretly bring down Hisham, therefore he called al-Walid who was the heir to the seat of the caliph and said to him, you are not safe, as long as the caliph is still alive. You do not know that he was a secret enemy of the caliphate of your father while he was ruling. He did everything to bring your father down secretly by supporting the enemies against him. 26. He will kill you and give the caliphate to his son rather than you. Now find a way to end his life and then you shall become the caliph in peace. 27. Now al-Walid began to nurse the words of Yusuf in his mind. Then he went in to Hisham secretly and found him asleep. Then he choked him to death and left unnoticed. 28. Then he took up the post of the caliph and Yusuf was glad about it. Then Yusuf said to him, sell to me Khalid whom I sold to your uncle Hisham in the past. 29. So al-Walid sold Khalid to Yusuf for two hundred thousand dirhams, saying, my uncle bought him from you for two millon dirhams because he was a governor then, but I have sold it to you with ten times reduction in his value because he has served as a slave for five years in the court of my uncle. 30. Now when Khalid had reached the place of Yusuf, he was tortured so much that he died. |

Chapter Twenty-Eight 1. Now al-Walid feared that Sulaiman his cousin would attack him, because he had been advised by Yusuf the governor of Iraq, saying, why do you allow Sulaiman to go free? 2. Go and get him and imprison him before it would be too late for you. So al-Walid took Sulaiman the son of Hisham and imprisoned him. 3. Now the thing which al-Walid did displeased many of the people, such that they began to shift their support for the Ummayads. 4. Also, in those days, the descendants of Abass, who was the uncle of Mohammed the founder of Islam, had begun to train fighters who will take up the caliphate. 5. Now in those days, they criticised the Ummayad caliphate and killed people randomly, terrorising the people. 6. Now Al-Walid discovered that many of his followers had left him to either give their support to the descendants of Abass or to the forces of Sulaiman whom he had imprisoned. 7. There were some who also arose to fight for Khalid who was tortured to death. All these people attacked the common people randomly, terrorising the lands. 8. Then there was unrest in all the Islamic lands in those days. Now amidst the unrest, Al-Walid made Uthman and Hakam his sons the heirs to the seat of the caliph. This action angered many people further, saying, is this the next thing for the caliph to do? 9. Now Marwan who was the governor of Armenia, being the grandson of Marwan the past caliph, heard how Yazid, the cousin of al-Walid had plotted a coup to overthrow him. 10. Now Marwan wrote a letter to Yazid, saying, do not get yourself involved in this plot. Leave al-Walid to others, let his death not be from his own extended family. 11. Let people of other places whom he had angered kill him. Then shall the Ummayad caliphate not be tarnished further. 12. Now Yazid said, do you think that I am acting on my own accord? Many people from different clans have gathered at my place to offer me support and to back me up to be the next caliph. 13. Even the family of Sulaiman have given me their support, saying, avenge the undeserved torture of Sulaiman your cousin for us, because he was an innocent person, but al-Walid took him and punished him unduly. 14. The Murjiya and the Qadariya have also given me their support to go and dethrone al-Walid and also his governor Yusuf who killed Khalid. 15. Now when Marwan had read the reply of Yazid, he was moved to give his support to him. Then he sent five thousand men who were his own supporters, saying, go with Yazid to subdue the caliph. 15. Now Yazid and his men advanced close to the place of Al-Walid, then Abd Al-Aziz, the head of his force was chosen to go and speak with Al-Walid. 16. Now Al-Walid did not know that the forces of Yazid had surrounded the land, so he struck one of the men of Abd al-Aziz to death. 17. Now Abd al-Aziz blew the trumpet, then many fighters began to troop into the court of Al-Walid. 18. Now Al-Walid was captured and his head was cut off his neck. Then Yazid put the head in a tray and commanded his men to take it round Damascus. 19. So they paraded the head around Damascus and many people were satisfied, saying, Al-Walid deserves to die. For he has not done anything good ever since his ascension. 20. Now Yazid imprisoned Uthman and Hakam whom Al-Walid had named as his successors, then he went further to imprison Yusuf the governor of Iraq and gave his position to Mansur the son of Jumhur. 21. Now the people who were not Islams but were under the Islamic rule were glad at the promises made to them by Yazid, saying, I will not tax you too much like my predecessor did. 22. Now Yazid was supported by many factions of Islam, saying, this is truly the Mahdi, but the Shiites refused to see him as the Mahdi. 23. And the Shiites at the city of Homs refused to send representatives to his coronation ceremony. |

Chapter Twenty-Nine 1. Now the Arabians around the borders of Homs, who were descendants of Muawiyah the son of Abu Sufyan arose, saying, this is the time when the Ummayad caliphate will return to the Sufyanids rather than the Marwanids. 2. So they gave their support to Ziyad, the great grandson of Muawiyah(the same Muawiyah who was the first Ummayad caliph). For Ziyad himself was a relative of the deceased caliph Al-Walid through their grandmother. 3. Now Yazid heard that the forces of Ziyad were advancing towards Damascus, so he sent men to the prison where Sulaiman his cousin had been kept. 4. For he believed in the strength of Sulaiman so much. Then when they had brought Sulaiman to him, he said to him, son of Hisham, you are familiar with the terrain of Homs and its borders. 5. Therefore you have been chosen to go and lead the force which shall contend with Ziyad, the son of Abdallah so that he does not get to Damascus. 6. For the Sufyanids are plotting to regain the Ummayad caliphate from the hands of we Marwanids. 7. Now Sulaiman led the force and went to attack Ziyad and his fighters before they got to Damascus. Then he overcame them. 8. Now Yazid was glad at the deed of his cousin, so he made him the leader of his armies. 9. Now shortly after, Yazid began to have many problems with his head, for his brain had a disease. Then he had no strength to continue. 10. So he called Sulaiman and other great people of Islam. Then he declared Ibrahim his son as his successor. Then he died shortly after. 11. Now the same month when Ibrahim the son of Yazid became the caliph, Marwan the son of Mohammad, being the governor of Armenia began to revolt, saying, Uthman the son of al-Walid must be the caliph. 12. Now he threatened to fight until the caliphate would be given to Uthman. However, Marwan did this so that he could get the support of the supporters of al-Walid, for himself intended to be the caliph rather than the child of Al-Walid. 13. Now the supporters of Al-Walid gave their full support to Marwan, saying, go and take the seat of the caliphate for the son of Al-Walid. 14. Now Ibrahim called Sulaiman and said, I thought that this same Marwan gave his support for my father Yazid to take up the seat of the caliph, how soon has he turned his back against us? 15. Now Sulaiman said, Marwan himself have an eye for the seat of the caliphate right from the beginning. He did not support your father at first, but he did so eventually when he saw that many factions and groups supported him. 16. Now surely he will fight all he could to take this seat from you and I doubt that he would give the seat to Uthman the son of al-Walid. 17. But who am I to tell his exact intention? For anything is possible these days, therefore I will not let Uthman and Hakam his brother live to come close to the seat of the caliph. Then if they are dead, we can then know the exact intention of Marwan. 18. So I will give heed to the call of Yazid the son of Khalid who has requested for the vengeance of his father who was tortured to death by Yusuf the son of Umar. 19. So Sulaiman ordered Yazid to kill the sons of Al-Walid and also Yusuf, the former governor of Iraq who was imprisoned. So Yazid killed Uthman and Hakam the son of Al-Walid. Then he killed Yusuf the son of Umar also. 20. Now when Marwan heard that the children of al-Walid had been killed, he strengthened his forces, saying, I will avenge the death of the children of al-Walid and take up the seat of the caliphate for myself. 21. So he waged war with the forces of Ibrahim and Sulaiman and defeated them. Then Ibrahim and Sulaiman went to Marwan to seek his forgiveness and to accept defeat. 22. So did Marwan, the son of Mohammad, who was also the grandson of the past caliph Marwan of the Ummayads, become the caliph. |
