hurricanesgrace: Congratulations kpizzle.
Yours is a new one Could you please shed more light on the judiciary review. Looks like an interesting one Nice to be on this platform. Congratulations once more
Once u are refused, you can challenge the VO decision in Canadian Fwderal Court called judicial review. The immigration lawyer will sue the IRCC and the VO for arbitrariness in reaching the decision of your refusal. Most of the decisions made by the VOs are always not in tandem with the immigration rules or law. The court after hearibg the brief from your lawyer and that of the IRCC will set aside the decision of the VO (allow the appeal) and order that the application be remitted to another VO to decide. But the judicial review is somehow expensive. It cost between $3000 and $6000. 3 Likes |

DJVynoTynto: Please I got admitted into Humber college to biz admin PGD.. I opened a profile online on CIC and I uploaded my letter of acceptance and co,op already.. please the tuition fee reads 7500 for a semester, and I was told to pay for two semesters which reads CAD15k, and I still have 4more semesters to go after that, so my question is, can I pay for 1 semester and if I paid for the 2 semesters, like how much do I still need to declare as proof of funds after that.. and which for my personal self I have close to 3m, and my dad willing to stands as sponsor, can that 3m stand as ties to home country for me? No landed property for me.. I finished NYSC this year March, considering all this factors, what are my chances?thanks Theoretically you need to show proof you can meet the expenses over one calender year; 12months. 3mill statement of account from your dad seems a little off. I'll suggest paying the full tuition for a year and maybe show proof of your living expenses for a year. Your dads dependents matters when he provides his financial portfolio. There is definitely more to It but this should give you an idea of what to do. |

Nice one ? I had the best POE experience so far at Montreal .. landed 8pm got to the PoE place sta for 10mins drop my correspondent letter and passport, officer asked for the name of my school and admission letter simple Emmyirab: Hello e-family. Writing from Regina, Saskatchewan.
MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR
Its great here, very nice people. People are nice to you for no reason. Sane drivers too, atleast, I never fight any driver for change since when I come here. In the school environment, once a pedestrian steps on the road to cross, all vehicles must stop. I did it the first time, body sweet me. The people here don't even look at the road anymore. Some will just be chatting and crossing. Me, as a Nigerian, I still have trust issues, so even though I know they will stop, I still look right, left, right, left, right again, up, down and back, before crossing (YOLO).
For those still coming in the spring/summer semester, one of the mistakes you shouldn't make (which I made) is believing that; "It is the spring/summer semester, it won't be cold anymore". When I was coming here, I bought a light winter jacket, cos I was thinking the cold should be gone by now. But it was a different thing when I stepped out of the airport.... cold wan finish me... and guys here are saying its not cold, walking around with just T-shirts, girls on bumshorts. Me, I have been sleeping, eating, and doing almost everything with my winter jacket on. So, don't believe those people you see online, saying it's warm in the spring/summer. Na SCAM, I repeat na SCAM. They have been here for a while, they're used to it, YOU ARE NOT. And someone told me the fastest way to the clinic is by converting stuffs you want to buy from Dollar to Naira. I went to a shop to buy a blanket. It cost $50. Immediately my brain involuntarily started to do the conversion to Naira. Then I started thinking, "Do I really need a blanket?, I can just wear 4 thick clothes and 4 jean pants to bed". Most people can't help it, I can't. But, the earlier you stop, the better.
POE EXPERIENCE in Toronto.
(after collecting my correspondence letter and passport) Officer: Why are you here? Me: To study for my BSc. in Computer science at the University of Regina. Officer: What were you doing before applying for a visa to Canada? Me: (As it is written on my SOP and application documents). Officer: How do you intend to pay for your fees? Me: My plan is to open a bank account once I settle, so my parents will do a wire transfer of my first semester tuition. I also have a the sum of $....... with me in cash, for my living expenses for a few months. Officer: Where will you be staying? Me: I came in contact with someone in Regina who found some apartments that I will be checking out once I get there, but I will be staying in a hotel for a few days, while I check the apartments (I already made a reservation for a hotel before traveling). Officer: What other documents do you have there with you? Me: My hotel reservation print out and my connecting flight to Regina. Officer: (The reservation was done with my Nigerian debit card and the last four digits of my card were written there) He asked who owns the card, I said its mine, he asked for it. After checking the name and number, he gave me my study permit and stamped me in. That was all.

Was anything written in the remarks or observation section at the very end of your study permit? Check very carefully again.
To amend your study permit, you will need to fill a form on CIC website called "request to amend record of landing, confirmation of permanent residence or valid temporary resident permit" and then attach documents below;
1) Original study permit 2) Two photo IDs (photocopy of passport and driver license). In my own case, I did not have a drivers license so I used Ontario ID card - I had to apply for this card (paid for it). It took almost 5 weeks to get this card. 3) Letter of admission 4) Official transcript 5) Student account statement - (I do not think this is necessary except you have paid your fees. Please confirm with your school's international department)
The documents listed above was what the international office of my school (Fanshawe college) asked me to submit with the IMM form (Please confirm with your school for guidance before submitting yours). Once you have all the documents, you will then send those documents via mail (the address is on the IMM form). How long does it take to get the study permit amended? 1 month.
P.s For all those who recently got their Visa's, when you get to immigration and you collect your study permit, don't be in a rush, stay in front of the immigration officer and read through your study permit carefully line by line and make sure you see it is clearly written you are allowed to work ON/OFF campus (I have shared my experience here before). If there is anything you are not sure of in the study permit, ask him/her for explanations right there.
Also, please check for date of expiration on your study permit (make sure this date is at least days/months past your program end date).
Once you leave the border, Amending your study permit is not guaranteed because CIC may choose not to amend it and you may be in Canada not working for a long time. You don't even want to experience this.
The way I was drinking Garri (winter period), eating beans and indomie on a steady for London ON, I no wish am for anybody. By the time you have spent money buying mattress, pillow, duvet, cloths, some house stuff and then pay rent (for first and last month), your account would have been screaming. Staying without work for months is not something you want to experience in a land where you don't know anyone except you are rich.
All the best. |

Bro that last part no be lie , Trust me I landed with silly jacket the cold wet blow me till Today no matter how much I chop e be like say my gauge don spoil.. I no Dey full. I have gained 10kg Awuuga: I just read about someone with issues on his study permit, this will unfortunately take a while to correct.
Please when you land, tuck all that excitement in and make sure everything is right with your study permit. You can work for 20 hours per week when school is in session and 40 hours when it’s not. If you don’t see this on your permit, call the attention of the officer, do not be afraid. You can even decide to inform the officer before he issues yours.
I’ll share part of my experience at the immigration counter and hope it helps someone.
First counter:- Me: Good morning Ma Officer(female): Hi, good morning. You smell nice ( for real though). Is that coco butter. Me: No, that’s perfume oil. Thank you btw. Officer(f):- okay, it’s good. Me:- Hello, please could my permit let me work on and off the campus? Officer(f): I don’t handle that, when you get to the next officer ask. They’d attend to you the best they can.
Second Counter: Me: Good morning Officer(m): Hi, I see you’re from Nigeria. Me: Yes Officer(m): Can I have your offer letter and passport? Me: sure, (hands him my documents)* Officer(m): How long is your program? Me: 18 months Officer(m): That’s Good ** He was about to print my permit Me: Hi, could I please make a request? Officer(m): Sure, what’s on your mind? Me: Could my permit let me work on and off the campus? Officer: Give me a moment to check what is applicable. ** He didn’t even know. After a few minutes. Officer: Yeah, you can. Prints my permit and it allows me work on and off campus.
Please speak up and ask. Also the fact I was just asked to show my offer letter and passport, doesn’t mean it’d be the same for you. Take all the documents you’ve been asked to take to the point of entry. Like naijaforeigner said, staying here without work is difficult.
Get a winter jacket or two. It is extremely cold here, extremely cold. My first day out, tears dropped from my eyes. True story.
Stay safe guys and good luck.

Thank you. The funds will be needed to submit the visa application. You can make the funds available in a fixed deposit with a reference letter from your bank, you could just have it in your savings, transfer it to your wife's account etc. There isn't a specific way to show this. My VISA journey has been rough with many twists and turns. Between October 2018 and December 2018, I got 2 LOA request and 3 SOA request from IRCC. They even requested for an unusual SOA format called "My Bank Statement with ticket ID". And after providing it in December they went mute until I aligned and adopted the "Austacus formula" on April 13th before I received passport request on the 15th.
All along I kept praying and never lost faith. I need to give special shout out to @galala123, a "brother from another mother", I owe him a lot for is support, encouragement and advice. We whined, complained, analyzed and rejoiced together. I also want to thank @jnyuwa02, I wonder why he has been silent recently but then he reached out to me and offered his support. Also special mention to my MAY/JUNE/JULY family, Makano, Austacus and 042viber12.
I almost forgot my main man "Lemia". He was the person that first took me by the hands and show me the way. We will definitely rock University of Waterloo together.
To all hopefuls, it shall all end in praise.

Go to Yaba. Around the rail way line, you will see some sheds, and stores with clothes hanging. They are usually fairly used and vary from top grade ones to low grade ones. The jackets don't usually come cheap. The traders will charge you cos they know you have need of it. But try not to let them rip you off. Good luck!!
