Recently i made mention of reentrance of the indians to the Nigerian market with respect to sterling bank, now they are being speculated to be the driving force for the unannouced bull that DFM is seeing at the moment.
Who is OLAM?
What is their capabilities?
About Olam International Ltd
Olam International Limited is an international integrated supplier of both raw and processed agricultural commodities. The Group sources, processes, stores, transports, ships, distributes, trades and markets agricultural products. Olam International also provides insurance related services.
https://www.olamonline.com/

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-23/olam-offers-to-buy-nigeria-s-dangote-flour-amid-strategy-shift

this company is incorporated in SINGAPORE
They may have a view of expanding their export dominated business
they exports agricultural products to the middle east and the indian sub continent
if they take over DFM,their target market might not be the local market
Rather, Saudi Arabia,qatar,uae, bahrain,brunel,jqapan etc
they are the master when it comes to grain business
bloomberg reports recently that OLAM is selling 20% of their grain biz to mitsubishi

i dont think there is a company in the agric sector in NIGERIA that can challenge them financially
With the look of things, its a worthy risk to accumulate at market price before the end of april
the sentimental truth id that the equity market in the Nigeria bourse are markedly depressed due to lack of foreign portfolio investors
once the NYSE, THE EMERGING MARKETS GET TO A SATURATION KINETIC,THE MONEY WILL FIND ITS WAY BACK TO THE DEPRESSED ECONOMY LIKE NIGERIA

Furthermore my fear really is for FMN on how it wld cope with a competitor of OLAM calibre in the Flour space
Startegically it wld rather make more sense for FMN to become a little more bigger in ready for competition with Olam
so i see more consolidation in that industry (FMN swallowing smaller player) though there is a major constraint of Cash for FMN presently cos they are just deleveraging there balance sheet

True in some sense.
...but these processes(should they play out) will most likely create an uprising in its share price to allow for their manifestation.
Again, FLOURMILLS is a buy @ current price levels.

Olam International submits binding offer to acquire Dangote Flour Mills Plc in Nigeria
Press release
23rd Apr, 2019
Singapore

NGN 130 billion (US$ 361 million) transaction for 100% equity ownership
Complementary flour and pasta manufacturing capabilities would serve consumer demand for bakery, snacks and pasta products
Deal subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals
Global food and agri-business Olam International (Olam or the Company) has submitted a binding offer to acquire 100% equity ownership of Dangote Flour Mills Plc (DFM), a leading flour and pasta manufacturer in Nigeria, for an enterprise value of NGN 130 billion (approximately US$ 361 million) on a debt free, cash free basis.

The proposed transaction would include DFM’s five strategically located facilities engaged in flour and pasta manufacturing, as well as its logistics capabilities including access to the ports of Apapa and Calabar.

This acquisition is part of Olam’s strategy to strengthen its portfolio by investing in proven businesses where it has consistently performed and gained market leading positions.

“The acquisition of DFM supports the strategy of the Grain and Animal Feed business, one of Olam’s prioritised platforms for growth, to expand our wheat milling capacity in high-growth markets, such as Nigeria,” said K.C. Suresh, Managing Director and CEO of Olam Grains and Animal Feed. “We are confident about the growth prospects in this country and this acquisition, doubling our installed capacity here, is evidence of our long-term commitment to the Nigerian economy.

“Since 2010, when we first acquired Crown Flour Mills in Nigeria, Olam has invested in and grown a world class wheat milling franchise with a strong regional footprint across four countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Bringing together Olam and DFM would provide enhanced manufacturing capacity and create synergies with our existing business to deliver improved products to meet customers’ needs in the market,” he added.

The demand for high-quality flour is expected to continue to grow, driven by increased consumption of convenient and affordable wheat-based products, such as bakery, snacks and pasta, which are popular amongst many Nigerian consumers. Olam’s and DFM’s complementary manufacturing footprint would allow a broader reach across the Nigerian population. Olam will further leverage its strengths and scale in global sourcing, freight, risk management and operational excellence to deliver operational and cost efficiencies which in turn would deliver higher value to the Nigerian consumers by supplying them food staples manufactured in Nigeria, at a lower cost.

The proposed transaction would mean Olam acquiring all the outstanding and issued shares of DFM that it does not currently own through a Scheme of Arrangement. As per the offer terms, the final equity price per share payable to shareholders will be arrived at after adjusting for relevant net debt and net working capital of DFM.

The transaction is subject to, amongst others, the approval of DFM’s shareholders, regulatory approvals, the sanction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, as well as the absence of a material adverse change in DFM. Upon satisfactory fulfilment of the conditions, DFM would be delisted from the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

Due diligence is advised. I rushed into Eterna, Mobil & Total after NIPCO bought Mobil at >N400 per share. The logic then was that the market would see their shares as more valuable given the NIPCO paid >N400 per share for a stock that was trading ~N175 per share.

I lost money on Total & Mobil and gained marginally on Eterna. The market has a mind of its own.

It seems our minds are connected. Just this morning at about 4:30, I was studying the daily volume of FO for the past 14 trading days to see if it is showing signs of a miracle on the way. There is a cummulative percentage of drop it would record after some few consecutive days and then it would be time for one to take a dive. Though I pray it happens after I will have carried my loot out of CHAMS so that I can use it for the FO diving.
NSE has become like a school in which students don't read for exams but wait for expos and miracles to pass.

For me; I don't like that general bull. Let them come one after the other on individual stocks as they are doing now. If you can be identifying them as they come, with only three or four of such bulls in a sequence you will make a mountainous kill this year. Imagine a person who rode Diamond, took the loot into CHAMS and now into DF. You can catch three rats if they come in turns, but you can't catch more than one if they all come simultaneously.
