you are not meant to send a copy to the school...except the school said unofficial evaluation copy is accepted for admission processing only. Most schools would still want WES to send them a copy directly. Yes, You will receive your copy of the evaluation. Kendrix69: |

ODAVI: Banking is too broad. What form of banking? Investment or Corporate or Sales? It will help if you give the specific area of banking because there are numerous career paths bankers take after MBAs Also, what role in media? Did you acquire the media experience before banking? So, what is your post-MBA goal? Where do you want to work after the MBA? Babson ranks top in entrepreneurship, but I must be honest with you, very few people take MBAs for entrepreneurship and that is why Babson does not have a very strong brand yet within the MBA community. With several incubators out there like Y Combinator, very few people take MBAs for entrepreneurship. So, what role are you targeting after the MBA? 1 Like |

Kendrix69: It depends on the school. Most of the schools are fine with WES as official transcript but some (a small number) of schools will ask for both. Some schools can view your electronic copy directly from WES so you don't have to send them an official copy. Just check in with each of the schools to know their process. For your second question, I highly recommend WES. The process might be hectic but I believe it is the gold standard of evaluation. A few schools ask for evaluation from specific companies but WES is the most widely accepted. 1 Like |

Hi guys, Michigan Technological University offered me admission to study Applied Statistic but no funding and I tried applying for Mpower loan to offset part of my tuition fee and I have been conditionally accepted for the loan. I want to ask if it is advisable to take loan for masters in Applied Statistics. 1 Like |

As a new person in the house, I've been silently following the thread from the beginning to almost the middle, hoping to see a case I'm directly or indirectly involved in, but I couldn't. It will be of great help, if someone could please educate me on this, I graduated with third class (1.89/5Gpa) and I'm thinking of doing Pgd and Master programs here in Nigeria before going for phD in US. I've a secured job with one of the security outfits which I've so far spent about seven years in. God's willing and things work as planned, I'll like to drop the job and pursue my educational career and subsequently relocate my family over. Before then, I'd like to know, if I should go ahead with Pgd and Master Programs here and after which I move to US for phD. Thanks as I'm waiting for your beneficial advice. |

bracelum: LIfe is not black and white so please advice with caution People who attend schools not in top 20 still get a jobs and would be able to pay off the loan. You can never predict how it turns out . Not everyone in top 20 program get a job either. Recruiting for MBAs generally ends after securing internships because over 90% of companies that recruit MBA interns end up hiring them fulltime after the internship...... REALLY ? .... Recruitment continues way after internship. Loads of interns are not giving full time offer and go on to get offers elsewhere after graduation. Loads of people even when given offer from internship end of accepting offers elsewhere. The recuritment cycle is an all year round thing. There are also loads of post graduation jobs that are got outside off a "school /campus recruitment program" ...People change jobs daily for whatever reason so roles get available at any time all year round .... There are no set pattern as everyone path is different . |

isangjohnson: You sure need to do Pgd and if possible masters before considering a Phd in the US after taking the GRE. So start making the move now! NOUN is a globally accepted school so you can still work and earn your degree at the school. What course? Dust yourself and up your game. |

LagosismyHome: You always seem ready to attack me each time I mention the top school thing. You may think otherwise but it doesn't change the fact that a below top 20 MBA candidate faces significant struggles in getting those top jobs especially in consulting and IBanking. I don't think I should keep explaining this to you everytime you attack me because I think I have done enough of the explanation. Or maybe you should lecture them on how to get into Associate roles at McKinsey, Bain or BCG and Associate roles at Goldman and JP Morgan with MBAs from below top 20 MBA programs since you think ranking does not play a role in those recruitments. And I never said those that do not attend top 20 MBA programs do not find jobs. However, they face significant challenges because the top jobs target students from the elite programs. And yes, the only MBA students that continue recruiting in their second years are those that could not secure their dream internships in their first year. That is why they hustle so hard to get those dream internships in their first year. Thank you |

bracelum: These are not the only companies in america Associate roles at McKinsey, Bain or BCG and Associate roles at Goldman and JP Morgan with MBAs..... there are loads of available jobs out there so most times when i see your comments it very limiting. I dont really mean to attack your comment but i am a fellow MBA alumni and while some of your comment might be true i find it very limiting and not reflective of the bubble outside a textbook standard.. what i have a problem is you discouraging people from following a path they choose as if you have a crystal ball on how the future goes ..... Many people have succeeded in life outside of the textbook standard and once you start working and meeting people you will realise that 8 Likes |

LagosismyHome: Those are not the only companies in America but those are the elite jobs for MBAs and a lot of students take the MBA just to have an opportunity of interviewing for those roles in those companies. There are elite MBA roles in consulting, banking, marketing, brand management, technology etc depending on what you want to do. I don't see the need for an MBA if the candidate ends up targeting one of "loads of available jobs" out there. Why spend 2 years on an MBA (and possibly enter debt) when you are targeting roles you can get even without the MBA? It is just like spending 5 years on a PhD when your goal is to get a job that you don't need a PhD to acquire. 2 Likes |

bracelum: My point exactly you do you let others do them... there are many people earning 6 figures in companies you never heard of. ELITE this or that might matter to you but not to everyone Some others it might be any job that file H1B and climb from the bottom to the top Everyone climbing path to the top is different. I know a guy who did MBA got a regular job that filed H1B after he got his greencard. He went into entrepreneurship doing medical transport and making 500k a year . . The CEO in my current role is the head of a household brand name earning over 30 million pounds a year. I read his bio. He didnt go to any brand name school and rose by working his way from bottom to top. There are millionsof examples . Everyone path is different Elite doesnt even exist outside of school... who elite help. It doesnt even mean anything.... that you work in XX , so ?... What might mean something is how much is in your bank account.. you be amazed at the non name working people bank balance. The true rich people are the less noise makers and the good they do with that money 16 Likes |

bracelum: You always take time to give genuine advice but you need to deemphasize this top 15 or top 20 school ranking. There is also too much focus on d "top companies," but these firms are just a drop in d ocean. She isn't attacking you. You tend to base your advice on statistics, mathematics, and rankings while she base her advice on personal experience or experience of people she knows. Experience is a lot more closer to reality than mathematics. 17 Likes |

The real struggle is to define who you are by yourself. Don't be weighed down by your surrounding, circumstances or people. LagosismyHome: So, what you're talking now is totally different from what I'm talking about. Everyone knows that your MBA school does not matter ten years down the line. It is just a quick fix that places you on the right path with immediate effect and what happens after that is just a function of your drive, hustle and passion. A lot of people become CEOs even without formal education so I don't see how your example treats this issue under discussion. As I said, I won't go into this discussion because I have explained myself enough. Whenever I give advice here about MBAs, I always ask the "what do you want to do after graduation?" question. I give my advice based on current trends in recruiting. If you want to do consulting, I will advice you based on trends. If you want to do banking, I will advice you based on trends. You seem to encourage people to take MBAs (even with debt) without having any goal in mind and making them depend on hope and luck. I don't know if you're doing it just to make them feel happy or to avoid them attacking you. But we all know that making a significant investment with no end goal in sight is a very wrong move and I won't shy away from telling them the truth even if it makes them feel bad. I will never advice someone to take a route with significant investment and place their outcomes on luck or hope. If it works for 5% of people, it doesn't work for 95% of others. 4 Likes |

bracelum: The current trend based on what though ........... for example companies requesting for GMAT Score during recruitment is only like max 5 to 10 out of a million companies out there but you state is as if it an industry standard . It not even a standard for Consulting firm but only a handful of consulting firm... .. Majorities of companies dont care about nobody scores.... Do you really know how many companies are out there ?, there are loads so what really is the trend and what has worked for 5% or 95% . What your analysis based on ? ....... 2 Likes |

LagosismyHome: 1. Current trends in recruiting. 2. I did mention the names of the few companies that do request for test scores. And I also mentioned that those companies are few in number and they operate within specific industries and if any candidate wants to work within that industry and the companies, they will need to present their GMAT scores. So, I don't know what you're insinuating here. I was even surprised that you were not aware that some companies do request for GMAT scores considering you said you're an MBA alum. 3. There are tons of companies out there and each company/industry seek for specific traits in MBA candidates. That is why I ask each candidate about their future goal so that I can give them tips based on the recruiting requirements for their choice industry/company. My advice is just for MBA-type of jobs. If a candidate just wants any type of job, I won't even advice them to spend tons of $$ and their time pursuing an MBA in the first place. Why do a degree when it doesn't add anything to your future goal? So, I don't know what you're trying to say here. The only thing you have exhibited so far is to encourage people to take on MBAs without having a career goal in mind. And this is very surprising which is why I don't know if you're doing it just to make everyone feel you're a good person. It is none of my business though - it only becomes a worry when you attack me everytime for telling them the ugly truth. As I said, I can't keep explaining this thing over and over again. 1 Like |
