Why couldn't she just give him enough to cover his transport?

Why should the woman have to cover transport she didn't ask him to undertake? How did he know she wouldn't have readily agreed to come over to some public spot convenient to him? It was entirely his choice to drive all the way down, and as I said before, I suspect he made that choice precisely because he was entertaining dishonorable ulterior motives, which would make the driver no better than any of the entitled men who think women "owe" them something for being treated with courtesy.

If this man were truly decent, he'd have left the whole business at "can you come and get your wallet and cash at place XYZ and time ABC?" Instead he made his way all to the woman's house unprompted, never even bothering to ask whether she'd be home when he got there, and now has the temerity to posture in public as if he'd been wronged because he didn't get the payoff he was looking for while play-acting at being a "Good Samaritan".

This sort of transactional "morality" is why I say most Nigerians have no real moral compass, despite all the public religiosity the love to put on: Nigerian religion is mostly about "If I do X, God will give me material benefit Y" rather than the golden commandment: "Love thy neighbor as thyself". The Good Samaritan was "good" because he chose to inconvenience himself to aid an Israelite stranger who looked down upon people like him for their Samaritan origins, and without any expectation of getting anything in return for having done so. Nowhere in the story does Jesus say the Samaritan then came back later to the man whose life he saved, to ask indignantly "Abi you no go dash me something for helping you?" as the Nigerian mindset would have it.

Truth is, is better not to give him anything. Thank and Appreciate him and let him go his way. If you want to reward him, giving him 500 naira is not ok. The Bleep is he supposed to do with 500 naira?

Wrong. Passenger is solely liable for any personal effect lost.

Drivers are not supposed to contact passengers after the trip ends.
Best he can do is return the items to Uber's office.

Returning the purse have save him from problems, anything giving to you should be considered blessing.

There is noting wrong in giving a very good compensation for some one who restored your lost property 500 naira dash is an insult compared to what was found let us learn to be good to good people.

I have a US visa on my passport and I remember times I've been really broke.
Kindness is not for sale. Even if she doesn't drop a dime, you have played your part. Be kind and move on..even if they want to pay you for it, gracefully decline.

According to the cabman, after the woman forgot the purse in his car, he drove back to her house and gave her the purse with her money and International passport intact. But his pain is that the woman only gave him N500 tip for the good deed he had done.
