Lol, I thought they said we can carry two bags of 23kg each?
TOTAL OF 46KG

So, I fit carry
17kg garri
3kg dried fish
3kg stock fish
Thats 23kg in one bag,

Then the remaining 23kg go be clothes and other miscellaneous then the bag I go carry for hand go contain some personal things.

All I know is that all the required free kg will be filled completely with foodstuffs and other necessary things.

Well, I have never travelled before by flight, so I dont know how things are done there

17kg Garri? shocked.

They don't weigh handbags. You can put Maggi and other ingredients in the bag.

Also, it's advisable to use ghana must go instead of ecolac.

Ah... This is bad news
Re: Nigerian Students In Germany..how Do You Survive?? by pompido: 8:35pm On May 02, 2019
Yes, the general rule and law is that students should not work more than 20hrs per week but tons of people do more than that because they actually need to for survival especially where the jobs are in abundance. Most of these are overlooked by the alien's office but they can also clamp down in other cases, especially if the individual isn't making progress academically (yes, they know all these things. Schools send updates of students who don't pass the minimum credit units by a certain time which leads to an investigation. If they discover that the person sacrificed school for work, Naija beckons).

One can work more than 20hrs per week if your workplace allows it. Some organizations will be a sticker to the rule while others find ways around it on their own because they need the man hours and so figure out how to keep you working.

For example, where I worked 12hours shift 4 days a week, they would only pay pension from your pay up to 1k euros (meaning you worked 10 times in a month), so you get about 900 euros, anything over they start paying tax which gives the money no sense smiley

If one works above 10 times in a month, they withold the rest of that money until the holiday periods when students are allowed to work unlimited and then pay all the outstanding ones. So someone like me that has overworked during school session get quite some sum. This was what obtained then, I hear times have changed in Kiel now.

What suffered was the tax return because if one works more than 20hrs and they stick to the rule, they will overtax you and you still lose out on tax returns, so it will be like you just did the work for the government.

Restaurants (especially Chinese) are fond of paying cash so they are quite fun to hold as second jobs but the work no be here o. Forget say you strong, your back gonna learn cheesy

So research wherever you are headed and when you get there, test the waters until you find what works best for you.

IchBinBrait:

Thanks for this Pompido...

But some persons do say a student isn't expected to work for more than 20 hours/week because it is the rule in DE, it seem you worked more than the stated number of hours. Please could you share your thought on this.

There is a big difference..... Comms engineering is mostly signals and systems, a lot of calculations and very little if any IT courses. Offenburg does a bit of computer networks in their curriculum so best to really look at the curriculum before deciding.

Companies abound, you will do targeted applications based on what you want to do professionally. You are on the right path

Philfit:

Thanks for the Answer. Really helped
I am going for communications engineering, I know it’s different from information engineering but some schools offer them together as ICE. What makes them different tbh lol?
I have work experience, but it’s in form of internships not real work. I’m planing to solidify my work experience there in good companies when I begin studies. You have a list of good companies I can target in terms of our field and what programming language is most preferred
I’m learning C and C++ now. Thanks for the advise

I don’t know about Germany but here in the United States, you can always get packets of Maggi from an African Store...

Infact any kind of Nigerian Food can be gotten from an African Store albeit expensive...

I paid about $8.99 last time I bought one...

Attached below is a picture of the Packet of Maggi...

I no use 1000 euro bro, I used the average of 400 and 1000 euros which are the two figures mentioned and the average is 700 euro.
Then coming to flight, it depends on your location. Some part like Nuremberg and Hannover even cost more than 300k sef depending on airline.
A bag of garri, dried Egusi, palmoil, salt, Ogbonor, dried fish and okporoko, Abacha etc (I for put ogiri shaa but make I just leave am to avoid public disgrace) coupled with all these shoes and clothes go near 70k.

my figures na just rough estimate not the exact figure. I never even travel pass Nigeria before grin

I believe you should be able to buy a bag of Garri in Germany...

You can usually find them in African Supermarkets...

I don’t eat garri, I usually substitute it with Semolina...

I paid about $4.99 last time I bought one...

In my city, (Essen) The duration you get depends on the officer in charge. But trust me, the women at Essen Auslanderbehorde are what we call (Awon Iya mi Oshoronga grin grin). They don´t smile and they´ve given students 3months, 6months, and some residency without work permit for not getting the required grades in school. The men are nice and friendly. But generally, Essen grants 2 years.

Other cities that Grant 2years in NRW are

Mulheim
Oberhausen
Paderborn
Monchegladbach
Moers
Kleve
Munster
Essen
Bonn
Hamm
Kresi Wesel (1yr at first, then 2 yrs afterwards)

But most times, the officer attending to you is the key

My brother from a different mother who so happens to be Oyinbo German is yet to eat anything without a few drops of maggi sauce. For those of you who are in Germany, You can buy these at Lidl, Netto, and at most African and Asian shops.

The cubes are also available in conventional shopping outlets but you will most likely want the maggi and knorr brand which are available at the Asian and African shops.

Wheat semo and yam flour sef dey. If your pockets are not really smiling with you, which will be the case with a student, a 500 gram pack of weizengrieß (wheat) costs less the 40 cents.

Food is the least of your worry in Germany, unless of course you have special culinary requirements.
