MXr8p: Comparing Imo with Anambra is like comparing England with Ukraine. Two very different economies. Imo's counterpart is Enugu. Both are civil service oringo type places with massive rural poverty. Anambra's equivalent is Abia where both are highly urbanized and clearly Anambra wins the race thanks to Abia self-destruction. But Anambra really should be competing for the top 3 states in Nigeria and not settle for local championship comparisons. The question therefore for Obiano and co should be what will it take for Anambra to be top 3 in Nigeria? It should be obvious: 1) industry - Anambra needs to get a massive injection of manufacturing into the state. The foundation is power. Until there are gas pipelines into the state and well-planned industrial layouts it will be herculean to expect anything other than limited factories here and there. This is where the state government should be pushing. Clearly the FGN/NNPC will not finance it. But what about Arab investors? Chinese investors? South African investors? Power is a game changer and needs to be prioritized it. 2) Services - Anambra is clearly the richest state in the SE region but many companies choose to locate their regional HQ in Enugu. A lot more work is needed to attract bigger companies to site in state. Enugu has Okpara Avenue as a critical business artery but what is Anambra's? Onitsha which has a semblance of planning has been overrun by markets. Awka's famous Zik Avenue is bottle-necked by Eke Awka. The state has absolutely no working plan for managing its markets nor the chaotic transport network. There is not a single traffic light on Zik Avenue, Iweka Rd or New Market Rd or any of the famous commercial streets in the state. 3) Infrastructure - People are hailing Obiano for building bridges to stranded communities and while this is good what about the cities? Thousands are rushing to Anambra cities and the state builds roads there at snail speed. No city can boast public water supply or sewage facilites yet people are posting photos of Diamond Pizza and 5 Star Restaurant as proof of progress. Most governments would have detailed plans for services in cities but Anambra? NOTHING other than selling UN-HABITAT urban planning maps. 5 Likes |

You are wrong and right at the same time. Regional hgts were an advantage of the regional govt, if Abia for instance was the capital of the region then, those govt organizations would have been there too. So it has nothing to do with the governor of such state. Since after the creation of 6 zones, regional hdqts are now being shared amongst states of the region to balance the equation. This is obtainable in all the states of federal. That mistake was made when Nigeria was running regional govt and it is being addressed. Businesses and corporations can site anywhere in the city, for instance aside Zik avenue, Awka also have Esther Obiakor road, Ekwueme road, the six lanes GRA road, Secretariat road among others, these are well mapped out dual ways. Onitsha has Awka road, New market road, old market road among others, these areas are business districts where banks, account firms, insurance, estate firms etc are located. Road projects are all ongoing both in urban and rural areas, but the speed is a different thing but projects are taking place. Anambra industrial masterplan is being implemented and new industries are opening in the state. Power supply is a big venture, it is only serious private sector that can achieve it, just like Nestoil is trying to do. Anambra has no landmass of Niger state, so the govt is right in making sure that access to all over the state is guaranteed. ANSIPPA have done a lot in facilitating new industries. You can land in Anambra today and be rest assured that with your resources, ANSIPPA can facilitate the setting up your company in six months. They will get CofO for your company, liase with every government agency to get you started immediately. Transportation is being organized, okada is out, big parks are now developed around Onitsha for trucks, tankers etc to park and pay. The same thing is happening to buses, taxis, keke, no one picks nor drop passenger on the road or else ATMA or OCHA brigade will swoop on the person. I am not saying we have become like South Africa but the state is moving and we shall get there. mktinsight: 6 Likes |

MXr8p: Anambra state is loosing a lot of revenue simply because of poor urban planning. why is Awka road still a single lane with open drainages still baffles me yet that is d major road linking d business district of Onitsha. Awka as a state capital is just a title nothing to show, why is Regina celi junction yet to have a pedestrian crossing or even a fly over is just an eyesore. The so called Executive Business District in Awka is nothing to show 2 Likes |

Stop spewing nonsense, Onitsha and Awka are the fastest developing cities in Nigeria presently. Show me one place in this region that has this sort of six lane road. 1st pix is the access into Executive Business business district Awka, 2nd is GRA road Awka- the biggest road in the SE. Go and focus on your local football league because you know nothing about development except bet9ja. [s] uduokirika1:[/s] 4 Likes

Osagyefo98: No dey deceive yourself. Almost all the pictures in all the Igbo threads were taken with android devices and uploaded at once without computer interference. I didn't even mention beauty my post so I don't know what concerns edited images with the achievements I listed earlier. Before may 29, Buhari will be in IMO to commission West Africa's largest Cargo terminal and the new Police Headquarters while Anambra's Airport project is currently dead. Let me also remind you Okorocha built the airport without Federal contributions, so if a state that you guys have tagged a poor state was able to deliver such projects, what then is happening in Anambra our supposed richest state? An Op posted the latest IGR figures of States in Nigeria according to the rate at which the states were able to grow their IGR. Someone saw that of Anambra and concluded that Anambra is an overhyped state after seeing Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Ondo and Kwara trash Anambra in IGR. None of you could say anything there ( don't behave like you guys haven't seen the thread ) because, there was nothing to defend about Anambra. 1 Like |

Shut up you are not making any sense. Which imo airport are you talking about? Is this motorpark as i posted below. Presently there's is no airport in Imo state except you are referring to motorpark. Anambra is building a proper airport city, and doesn't come overnight but it will surely be completed and everyone will shut up. If i may ask which Again IGR is based on what state forwarded to NBS. It is in most cases fake report. There was a time Ebonyi was higher than every SE state. How do you explain that if it is not fake figure. Again you can claim to have higher IGR when your annual budget is lower than that of Anambra. Anambra budget is without bank loans, it is purely what the state generate and federal allocation. mktinsight: I am currently criticizing Anambra but, what did you mean by "Anambra's equivalent is Abia both of which are highly Urbanized"? Which Abia are you talking about here? The same Abia with a village as capital and one urban city whose landmass does not exceed 90sqkm. Even Owerri has a larger urban landmass than Aba and IMO state is smaller than Abia so I don't understand how Abia is highly urbanized as you have put it. Another point you raised here is that investors build factories in Anambra and locate their head quarters in Enugu. How did you come about this assumption? I haven't seen or heard of any Anambra based business with its headquarters in Enugu. If its headquarters isn't in Anambra, then it is definitely in Lagos or Abuja not Enugu. Anambra's major problems are its tax policy and implementation. I'm 90% sure thar Onitsha alone has more industries than Enugu and Ebonyi states combined but how Enugu generates more IGR than Anambra is still a shocker. Enugu state's governor got commendation from the federal level on its good tax policies and enforcement, Anambra needs to do more. 4 Likes |

You know nothing about IGR. IGR is based on whatever states supplies to the NBS. NBS doesn't come to states to check how they generated IGR. There was even a time, Osun state was said to have more IGR than the whole of SE, but all those has been exposed as lies because the state just gave any figure that suits it to the NBS. MXr8p: The supposed poorest state in the east ( according to you and your other monikers ) built a domestic airport under Sam Mbakwe. The same state is about to commission the largest cargo terminal in West Africa built by Okorocha a supposed worthless governor when our good governor has been clearly grass at Umuleri for a proposed Airport for 2 years now. Unbiased1: Am done withh you, as there is no need running about here with u even ihedioha has confirmed that expectations are too high on him. I don't even consider IGR or this gdp u guys keep brandishing about.... My consideration is simple has the gross happiness index of Imo people increased Civil servants can answer Pensioners can answer Contractors of said projects can answer Land owners can answer Even the church in same Imo state can still answer. I have noticed u guys celebrate mediocrity a lot. Is the likes of u and others pasting refurbished pictures in Imo thread that has monsterized okorocha as a leader that he fill he is now immune to any kind of public advice... He is establishing a polytechnic and moving a polytechnic, same scenario the incoming government is kicking against even when the existing have backlog of salaries arrears.... Unbiased1: And I bet on the altar of politics if ihedioha tows the path of okorocha which in his style is always aimed at publishing and publicising edited pictures of roads, hospitals, centres, schools and awarding of scholarships on NTA every 8pm to 9pm...then Imo will deteriorate further because such actions are now been supported by ilks like you who spread edited pictures online while the infrastructure itself is a mess....when government sees such pictures they are always happy because the masses are now covering their lapses and evil doings..... Unbiased1: Aba is the largest commercial city in SE Nigeria next to Nigeria. That is undisputed. Forget the fact that it has been run into the ground, the data on cash deposits reflects this. About Anambra, Glo, Etisalat, PZ Cussons, Seven Up, Nigerian Breweries, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Glaxo Smith Kline, Nestle, MTN, Ethiopia Airlines all run their SE operations from Enugu. This is why Enugu has a higher IGR because PAYE is a major component of IGR and large companies pay a lot of tax as these companies have shown. Enugu for whatever its worth provides a conducive environment for business. It has a planned business district, doesnt suffer from reckless street trading and buses parking anywhere anyhow. Now Anambra has not shown the same capacity. Onitsha may be a trading city but its quality of life is poor. Onitsha is perhaps the best planned city in the East. Just google map it. A lot of the colonial era roads are still there. But see what lawlessness has turned it into. 10x10 shops everywhere polluting space and gutters. Primitive capitalism at its worst. Awka as an old town has better potential but just visit the Eke-Awka axis. You could tell from Osinbajo's face that he was not impressed by the chaos and filth of that market on a major road called "Zik" Avenue. Obiano has been there 5 years and no brain to remove that eyesore of a market and relocate it to elsewhere. 3 Likes |

Pile of trash. Please stop writing long note to deceive people here, how can Enugu be conducive for business when capital transfer for business transaction is the lowest in the SE. All these companies doesn't have any regional office in Enugu stste, Glo, Etisalat, PZ Cussons, Seven Up, Nigerian Breweries, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Glaxo Smith Kline, Nestle, MTN, Ethiopia Airlines. Some states are just posting fake IGR whereas the same IGR does not reflect in their annual budget. The Anambra and Enugu is a case-study, Enugu claim to have higher IGR but it has lower annual budget year in, year out. WHY? For instance glo office in polo park Enugu has shut down. PZ has its regional of at Harbor estate Onitsha, likewise Grand Cereal. Coca cola doesn't have any regional office in the SE, what they have is just their head office in Lagos with office in PH, Onitsha, Enugu etc Nigerian brewery is the same, they just have office in Enugu state, just like they have in Abia state. All these establishments are everywhere. It is just like saying that the regional office of Abinbev is in Onitsha whereas they are opening anywhere they feel their business can move forward. Eke Awka axis of Zik Avenue is not different from Okpara Avenue axis of old Park, but this is the same Okpara Avenue where you have most of the bank in Enugu state. At the end of the day Anambra has thrice more commercial bank presence than Enugu state. Please tell us why and how. Industrial clusters alone at Harbor estate Onitsha surpasses is a prove that Anambra is more conducive for new businesses than Enugu. Stop misinforming people here [s] mktinsight:[/s] 2 Likes |

Real estate giants that ever crossed the River Niger to the SE ends up locating its office in Onitsha but someone will come here and lie that these corporate real estate firms goes elsewhere. But simple google search can show you that all those major real estate companies uses Anambra as their SE regional hubs. This is Diya Fatimilehin.
