She and the family have however given me a ultimatum to decide now.

What do you advice?

Family is good but not to be a burden.

Are they all handicap and unable to do any work to enable them live within their means while they constantly invest in themselves and their environments for better future cash flows? Don't be surprised that you are underwriting their laziness and the corruption that chased you away and keeps you in the cold weather and unfriendly people abroad.
Think am well well. You are nobody's slave, no matter how close to you that the person is. No one pushes a car, after helping to jump start it, until its final destination. Except sey the person na confirmed fool. And I am sure that you are not.

I know my country ain't perfect at all and even far below standard but home is home. I prefer to feel like a King or a Freeman than a Slave.

I will continue to use my skills and tools in 9ja until I achieve my every dream. I know I will definitely make it.

My brother if you are feeling me, please take a chance and come home to invest.
Forget village people talk and come home with a good mindset and you will make it amidst the frustrations.

As for coming to Nigerian to set up a business you have to think twice. The environment, politics, infrastructure etc are not just favourable there are graduates that are cab drivers in Nigeria worst still some engage in okada job I.e using motorcycle for transport, the insecurity is there,kidnapping, terrorism etc,so think before you decides. As for the UK lady if you think you can't cope with her lifestyle, look elsewhere ,I wish you good luck

99.99 % of the people here have never been to Germany nor the UK, they don't even have ordinary passport picture let alone International passport. Your question is like asking Amadioha if he thinks a Mercedes is better than a Range rover.

Don't mind the ones saying they are here and there, they will lead you to fire (most of them are doing the same cleaning jobs and mortuary attendant jobs).

You are the person who is wearing the shoes, pursue your plans because life is short. Do your SWOT analysis then make a decision.

When I earned 130K (NET), roughly 190K( GROSS), I could save HALF of my pay. You can't force me to conform to the thesis you're trying to propagate. Good job is hard everywhere. if you get very nice job in Naija or Abroad, you can save well, even after all expenses.

It's not all gloom and doom...Naija boys are earning 600K, after tax, 400K. This is true for some who hit the big jobs.

I agree that majority of Nigerians will not be in that category, but the same argument is true for Nigerians in Nigeria. Most will not earn 1M per month working salary work.

So, yes, even a GROSS salary of 120K is a very nice salary in the US. It puts you in the TOP 15-20% of earners in the country, in the US, "one" of the richest countries in the world.

I'm sure you lived abroad, so you can easily verify these numbers..

Follow your vision for life... What do you really want to do with your life? Make sure the wife you'll eventually get married to, share your vision and passion... Don't let anyone pressurise you into marrying a woman you don't love.. I'm even surprised you've be given an ultimatum. It's unacceptable.

As for relocating to Nigeria, it depends on if you're determined to weather the difficulty you'll definitely face... Light, poor infrastructure and access to finance.

I will advice you have your own funds... Returns can be richly rewarding, but note that you may not break even in the first two years... How would you cope?

A detailed realistic business plans is a must...

Whatever your decision, have a backup plan.

why are you downgrading the job he does. this is the mentality we have to change in Nigeria. what is wrong in washing plates? is it npt someome that does it? this is what we are talkimg about. is it the ceo or accountant who just ate in the restaurant that would wash his own plate bfore going back to his office? he gets paid for it atmost 1m every month, if he is single and lives a frugal lifestyle, he wpuld be able to do alot with that back home. you can abise every other part of him but leave hos job out of it.. a white man would not downgrade him for washing plates because its also a job.

Have you thought about getting an MBA from a top school in Europe(INSEAD, LBS,IESE) or in America(HBS, Wharton..etc)? You seen like a smart guy and I don't really think the GMAT/GRE would be much of a hurdle. If you are thinking about financing, there are loans. I'll say remain in Germany, for now, and seriously consider enrolling in a top MBA program (since you are already interested in business), and a prestigious professional job will be within reach after the MBA.

- Difficulty in getting loans to expand. I have heard they can ask for even your neck in those times. With a lack of collateral, more difficult.


For those asking about my course, Yes it's a STEM degree.

Life in Nigeria is not bad, that is if you remove the insecurities, bad infrastructure, bad leadership/governance e.t.c.

Having lived abroad for years it will be extremely difficult for you to adapt as you will have to deal with the lack of electricity, medical care and basic facilities that you will now have to spend money buying, instead of the government providing. It is not easy.

However, I would never trade it for anything. But that's just because I'm one of the lucky few who can afford a decent life, good health insurance and even trips abroad (including childbirth), with my Nigerian income.

For someone like you, start-up will be very difficult. Doing business in Nigeria is frustrating. There is little or no access to finance, issues of illegal/multiple taxation, lack of electricity/water supply e.t.c As for loan, just forget it. Even if you are lucky and get a loan, the terms for repayment will be frustrating. The Nigerian small business loan's polices only sound good on paper. The banks are implementing the way they like.

But you can try job search and if you are lucky, you may get somewhere reasonable.

If you want to stay in Nigeria, you need to make up your mind to face the storm for quite a while. But with perseverance, diligence and hard work, I believe anyone can make it.

When you are in a disadvantaged group, you learn to start low as a pioneer and have skills that people are really in NEED of, usually vocational/technical skills that are in short supply in the labour market.
The entitlement mentality of many black people- get a degree then a prestigious professional job will kill many with depression before their time. What % of blacks get such?
Are blacks owners of thriving businesses to employ other blacks? Do blacks spend less than they earn persistently and invest in their neighbourhood schools, clinics, parks, libraries, youth adventures, theaters etc AFTER paying all their appropriate taxes? What is the economic weight of blacks in Europe, North America and even Africa
Do black celebrities donate as much as white celebrities do to charitable causes?
