Press Release ESUT Returns to its Original Multi-Campus Structure Enugu, 15 May 2019). The Enugu State Executive Council has voted to return the Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT) to its original multi-campus structure as established by the Chief Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo administration in 1980. Accordingly, three schools originally proposed for Enugu North Senatorial Zone – faculties of Medical Sciences, Agriculture, and Social Sciences – will be returned to the Zone, while the ESUT Faculty of Education will relocate to Enugu West, to be domiciled at the new University of Education, Ihe in Awgu Local Government. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who chaired the meeting, noted that although the site for Enugu North campus of ESUT is yet to be determined, the Faculty of Medical Sciences will take advantage of the 400-bed specialist hospital currently under constructed at Igboano to serve as teaching facility for medical students. Council noted that relocating the school of medical sciences will rapidly decongest and take the pressure off the Enugu Park Lane Hospital which has been struggling for expansion space since its conversion to a Teaching Hospital. The sum of N1.5billion was approved in the 2019 State Budget for construction of key facilities at Igboano Specialist Hospital/ESUT Teaching Hospital, including construction of access road, external works (fencing and landscaping), as well as the provision of water and electricity. Council however voted to increase the budget to N2billion, following the decision on multi-campus structure for ESUT and additional facilities. For Enugu West Zone, in addition to the ultramodern administrative building which is already under construction at the University site in Ihe, Council also voted to construct an access road to the University. The Council’s decisions followed a proposal to restructure the Enugu State University so that various specialist learning centres can be established for each Senatorial Zone – Science, Engineering & Technology at Agbani (East), Education at Ihe (West), and Medical Sciences at Igboano (North). These specialist centres will not only bring tertiary education closer to the grassroots but will facilitate rapid socio-economic development of all zones in Enugu State. Very good development. The ihe college of education has always been a school of choice in the days it was a science school The school would continue to be a leader and would help in keeping the development of this area going 2 Likes |

Ugwuanyi finally bows to pressure from his Nsukka kinsmen to balkanize ESUT What's the point of having three campuses of ESUT scattered all over the place Some people can be so greedy ehn! Right from the day Chimaroke relocated ESUT to Agbani, Nsukka people have continued to grumble and now that their kinsman is the governor, they want to capitalize on the powers at his disposal to balkanize the institution. This is despite that they already have UNN in Nsukka! If you want to establish a university of education at Ihe, that's acceptable, so that each of the three senatorial zones can have an institution. But don't try to fool us with that trash about having faculty of education at Ihe! What's the point of having faculty of education of one institution in another institution established for same purpose This is just a decoy to carry out their vendetta against Nkanu people! I hope the state house of assembly would not allow this evil plan to materialize. ESUT has enough land at Agbani to accommodate all the faculties! People should know that power is transient and stop trying to oppress others when in power! 33 Likes |

Stanleyville:More like 1G Frontpage moderators that can't properly construct a good sentence and that push all kinds of shady news to the frontpage. There is also the issue of some news reports appearing on Nland frontpage 3days after being published in other media. Then again,a forum that has not found a way of blocking scammers and porn and bet spammers posting their stuff whenever and in whichever thread they want to. Seen himself seems to have left the forum to run on autopilot with all sorts running amock. 2 Likes |

Mental laziness...fresh ideas and thinking-outside-the-box mentality in short supply. A wrong way to waste state's resources ....govt working against govt....will relocating these faculties make students to learn better? Will it improve administration? Will it enhance communication? Will the students cope in the new communities they will be sent to? Do they have rights to say they don't agree and to oppose this?....? 2 Likes |

Ugwuanyi is a lazy governor, after Sullivan toiled and moved all the faculties in campus 3 and msp to agbani. This toad of man wants to spread them back to other areas again, what’s the point of having a well built permanent site which sit on hundreds of acres of land? Politicians go just carry dey waste money anyhow. Instead to use that money maintain and upgrade already existing infrastructure, they go about duplicating the same thing their predecessors built and finished off during their regime. 7 Likes |

Jman06: See this one. Hatred will kill U. The plan for ESUT has been multi campus from d onset. ESUT has always had a campus in Nsukka. Why should Chimaroke take parklane to Enugu east as well as UNTH. 1 Like |

Stupidity of the highest order!!! There's more than enough land in Agbani for Esut expansion. It's unfortunate that Ugwuanyi is not a wise man. 2 Likes |

Triniti: Exactly!!!! Billions of Naira would have been saved if everything goes to Agbani as planned. In 21st century, our leaders still believe that tertiary institutions are the only way to spread development. Indeed this decision has shown that the governor is Lazy. 5 Likes |
