Alexkrueger:Order for gcms note and know what exactly is the vo concern. It’s better than guessing you know but I can tell you are not ready to wait for a month for the note so try to list the documents you submitted for the application including your proposed course, your qualification and discipline so that gurus can advice. |

Hi guys, Good morning. Please I have a couple of questions. I am currently living in Canada as a PR and I intend to apply for a post graduate program for my brother. He graduated with Second Class, Lower Division (CGPA of 2.8 ) from Mechanical Engineering, but his last 2 years CGPA was 3.6 (I heard it matters). 1. Please guys I intend to apply for MEng or Graduate certificate program for him. Which one is he likely to be accepted in considering his CGPA. 2. Also, all things being equal, do people going for graduate certificate program usually get visa approval? 3. Please if you could also give me suggestions on schools that are less competitive, that he will likely be accepted into without too much hassle, I would be overjoyed. I am glad to answer any question in regards to Express Entry. Thank you so very much. |

dipsy94:Good morning from Nigeria. You don’t have to stress yourself for a grown man, simply tell him to join this thread and read from the beginning. I’m certain that if he is serious about it, he will answer all your questions with ease. I wish him all the best. 6 Likes |

dipsy94: ...greetings To answer your questions: 1- what scale for CGPA(i am guessing 3.6/5.0). For Admission it actually depends on the School and Course. Some Schools accept 70% into a masters program for last two sessions of Bsc(that would be 3.5/5.0.....but some require higher line 80% or 85%)... So browsing the Schools requirements is key. If it doesn't look good then he should take the Graduate Certificate path. 2- Yes they do get Visa Approvals 3- You might wanna look into Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) and Humber College... Kindly look out for the Gurus input on these. Cheers! |

cryptik: This means the VO is not convinced you are going there to study. You might have to prove that using career progression in your SOP, or some other method. |

I need to be adviced. I am indeed very new here. What are my chances? I intend submitting a paper application on May 28th. I am a lecturer with a federal university; I am married with a daughter, but intend going alone; I gained a funded PhD program in McGill; have a support document from Quebec (CAQ); going for upfront medicals May 27th; and my account balance is N1.5M. Please respond with accounts or documents I need to add... Thanks I NEED HELP, MY FIRST TIME 1 Like |

cryptik: Sorry about this, order your gcms note. I believe your refusal reason won't be that hard to tackle, since it's only one refusal ground |

cryptik: So sorry for your refusal, you need to share your profile. What program are you going for? and what was your previous program? Any study gap? And the rest. Just relax, take your time and repackage your app. More importantly, when reapplying don’t just focus on addressing only purpose of visit, try to still cover all angle. Some people on this forum have been refused on one or two refusal grounds, and when they reapplied tackling the stated reason(s), CIC gave them three or four extra refusal grounds.. though that’s not your portion. it’s a pity once more.. |

cryptik:Is the course you are going for in progression with your previous academic qualification or career? VO will need to see the correlation between them. Which course did you got accepted for? What is your previous academic qualification? What is your career line? |

Please get a co sponsor. Increase the 1.5m to about 3-5m. Write a letter of explanation for your funding arrangements. Please do not apply until you have fixed this. ohis30: 2 Likes |

I think you stand a good chance. You will need a well written Statement of Purpose tying everything together and don't forget to get a study leave approval from your University. ohis30: 2 Likes |

I believe there are numbers of people that the high commission need to grant study permit to every month, when the qualify numbers are completed/meant at the time of VO checking your documents, every little mistake in ur application is straight refusal. Pray like you have never prayed before. 2 Likes |

So what is the next course of action. Do you intend reapplying? You should order GCMS note to atleast give you an idea of how their mind works while they were working on tour file. In my opinion, I don't think you should give up. Though $150 is not small money. chibertha: |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Stonecoldsteve: 9:18am On May 17, 2019 |
That was why I said get a co-sponsor. All they have to do is transfer the money to your account and state in their letter of sponsorship that it's a commitment to your flight itinerary and settling expenses. If you refuse to do this you will likely get a refusal. Be guided ohis30: 1 Like |

ohis30: Please if you do not want to be denied visa. Just try and increase that money as you have being advice. And get a co sponsor as well. You dont take chances with those CIC guys 1 Like |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Qudkom(m): 9:49am On May 17, 2019 |
cryptik: Purpose of visit; csn be down to a few factors like; 1. You applied for a program that doesn't show progression with your work experience and previous degree. 2. Poor and Vague study plan 3. The cost of your studies doesn't warrant the cost to the vo.....etc I believe you are close to an approval. Order your gcms note and tackle it with a strong loe. |
