Is this the only school u applied to? A school with less than 5k enrollment just doesn't cut it. Stop setting yourself up. Most of these private schools r an easy way to get screened out.
U also didn't write GMAT or TOEFL.
Also, u said u are a CEO but your uncle who is another CEO will pay your fees. What kind of a CEO can't pay his own school fees?
I am just been blunt here, no hard feelings. The bolded doesn't hold water. So it's all CEOs that are rich? Common! 3 Likes |

But if u call yourself a CEO to a VO who earns around 10M naira per year n u can't pay your own school fees, u will look a lot out of your mind. How can I be making 10 or 20 times of your income and u r telling me that u r a CEO? If u also say u CEO, where is d board of directors u reporting to? I am a business owner. I own a startup. I own an agro business. These are decent n honest answers. U can't just use a word loosely especially to the wrong person. 15 Likes |

After your WES evaluation ke! Sell yourself small.. Due to my exceptional application portfolio, I was offered a 2000 dols worth of scholarship..and the rest deficit will be taken care of by my uncle. then stop there!

Yes, it is your business. Yes, u started it with your sweat n took all d risk. But u r a business owner or an an entrepreneur, not a CEO yet. Clearly shows you don't know what a CEO is. Also you can't differentiate a big company and a small company, a business and a company. samdgreat2011: Woke up intermittently between 1am and 3:45am when I finally rose to dress. Got to the consulate around 6:30 something. After so much checking/biometrics, I finally found myself in front of the young man in window 2. Friendly but thorough (he spent close to 30 mins with a family in front me, and gave a yellow paper)
Below is my transcript. Note that I couldn't use word for word what transpired.
vo: what are you going to do in the US
me: I'm going for a PhD degree program in Physics at Florida State University. I would be specializing on condensed matter physics.
vo: why this school.
me: I chose it because of the research facilities and the researches being conducted there. The National High Magnetic field lab, which is the highest powered lab in the world is located there. Researches on magnetic fields and the likes are carried out there which is what I'll also do.Dr xyz research on fabrication of nanomaterials which are used for solar energy harvesting attracted me too. And considering Nigeria for example, our hydropower has failed us, and people are going solar, so there's a need for more researches there because of the growing demand (he listened to all the story, typing on the system, looking at me, and nodding)
vo: can you name the top schools in physics
me: Harvard, Stanford and ehmmm British Columbia
vo: How many programs did you apply to
me: I applied to 7 other schools
vo: Is FSU your preference
me: ehnnnn, I actually have FSU and USF as my preference.
vo: what do you do
me: I teach Physics in an advanced level college.
vo: do you have a degree in Physics
me: Yes, I have a first class bachelors degree in Physics and also a masters in Physics.
vo: which school
me: University of Ibadan, here in Nigeria.
vo: who will be funding you.
me: I have an assistantship and also the deans doctoral scholarship from the school.
vo: are you traveling alone
me: yes
vo: you're married
me: yes, with a child
vo: so your wife will be coming to join later
me: ehnmm, yea, not yet because we have a little baby. she has nothing doing there for now.
vo: what is mustard seed unilab (he picked that from my ds 160)
me: it's an educational center that prepares students for utme; university admissions.
vo: what's the meaning of mustard seed
me: its a very small seed that grows to become a very large tree, ..
vo: when will you be traveling
me: ending of July because school resumes August 2.
vo: (gives my i-20 and sevis back to me, includes the EducationUSA orientation stuff. Searches for the white paper) Pick your bla bla in 3 working days
me: (receives white paper with a smile, just put in my folder jejely with what he earlier passed across) Thank you sir.
Saw one handicapped guy selling white handkerchief outside; bought with joy and overpaid wella.
We pray for more of this. Thanks to all who contributed something here that helped Finally it came through!!! I celebrate with you joyfully.. Your mock transcript was already an inspiration.. You saw it coming. I tap into your blessing bro... Go into that amelica and do exploit! |

My follow F1 , should I go to embassy with a statement of account that is written in French?
I don’t want to translate it to English tho, cause I don’t want the VO to see it as Fraud.
Or should I go ahead to translate it to English? What will the VO think if she/he finds out the bank statement is from a French country? Remember the bank statement is coming from a French Country, and also the bank refused to translate it to English.
Thanks! |

See ehn it was just God. Someone was denied for Stanford University. Another for Boston. One for glaring health reasons. All denied. Couldn't pay attention to more than these coz I was busy working on my nerves before my turn. I was shivering, my heart was racing and my teeth were cluttering.
I'm extremely grateful to God and to you nairalanders. God answered my prayers and You guys were very helpful. Thanks. Congratulations! That Stanford person that was denied, was he/she funded by the school. Cos this ivy league tuition fees are very expensive if you are not funded. |
