Do you know anyone who has done this? And if you do, how long after they sent the email did they receive their passport.

Also, my mum got her VISA in March in 4 days. Does this mean it went to Kenya and back in 4 days?

Yes I do know several applicants who experienced delay in getting their stamped visa passports back after an approval. It took 2 - 3 working days for their passport to be dispatched to the Visa application centre for collection.

As per your mom's case, it's the discretion of the embassy to select whether or not to transmit the passport to Kenya or stamp it in Nigeria, Victoria Island Lagos to be precise by using Kenya as the issuance office.

It's not been easy, but I've made it to the end (after skipping about 300 pages, make I nor lie). I have amassed a wealth of knowledge thanks to you all and I'm now a guru in training. I mean it, everyone here is the real MVP.

Some special shout outs to sillysally, Bracha, Kez911 and qudkom. You guys not only answered a lot of my questions but also made combing thru this thread fun and worth it. I also want to thank you in advance for the help you will still offer me in future because I go still ask questions o.

Glad to be here guys, I plan to put in my application online by first week of July,(hope it won't raise any red flags with the VOs as my admission is for January 2020). Until then I hope I can help out

You’ve been really helpful.

I will send an email on Monday morning. My parents are telling me not to send the email yet as my application was peculiar. But I will prayerfully consider everything you’ve said.

Thank you! Also, you said you would send me a sample of the email to send.

Sounds like a plan!

I thought the VISAs were printed in Lagos and not sent to Kenya? I applied online and got an original passport request May 1st. I submitted my passport on the 3rd of May and since then nothing. Mine wasn’t a student VISA though. It was for a TRV but I’m just searching all the forums to see if I’m the only person experiencing this delay.

The transmission he's saying is the transmission of counterfoil stamp or other necessary stuff needed from the visa officer or the visa office that handled your application to lagos consulate unless if your case is different then they may request for your passport to Kenya (which is very very rare). highest, they would call you for an interview in lagos office and if you pass it, you will get your stamp passport instantaneously.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Dedzstar789: 1:27am On May 19, 2019
Hey! Thanks for this. My application actually went through London. All my correspondence was through the London office.

Haven’t gotten the message about the counter foil stamp yet. Waiting on that part.

Hi
I submitted my passport on the 9th of May for stamping. Here’s a summary of the line of events that followed afterwards...

1. I saw a document update relating to the counter foil. I saw this update on my CIC account and it essentially stated the validity of my visa (17th May)

2. I received my correspondence letter (18th May)

3. I used the tracking tool to track my visa and noticed that it was ready for pickup as at 17th May.

So these things may give an indication of your visa stamping status;
1. Does your CIC account show any document update relating to the counterfoil

2. Have you gotten a correspondence letter ?

3. Have you tried tracking the progress via the visa tool on Vfs website?

Dedzstar789:
Hi Sally! Congrats!

I also submitted my passport and it’s been more than 10 working days since it’s been there with no tangible info. Can you please let me know how long yours took to pick up? It’s going on the 3rd week for me now. Submitted May 3rd, been to VFS several times and nothing!

Your response is much appreciated.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Dedzstar789: 1:45am On May 19, 2019
Hi Sally,

No counterfoil yet. Trust me I check CIC several times a day and also track it several times a day. I’ve also been to the VFS office twice (it’s right next to my house).

I’m just going to relax for now and whenever it comes, it comes. I just wanted to leave Naija ASAP as I NEED A BREAK from all the noise, generator sounds and annoying drivers. Need fresh air for a few weeks before I return home to face the chaos again.

With what I can see, they haven't started reviewing your eligibility

If they haven't started your eligibility review
”your application is in progress”

If the decision has been made
”Your eligibility has been reviewed”

If they have started reviewing your application
”We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements” or ”review in progress” or ”review required” (fear review required cause Nah secondary review straight up).

PS: some applications no dey reach eligibility review. I still don't understand what could have gone wrong in background checks. CIC people. Very unpredictable.

All the best in your application abeg next time screenshot it fully. (approval awaits you)

Bless you

Have you acquired a bachelor's degree in the past? Your best chance is to opt for a degree that is higher than your already completed one which is a PGD.

Viewing your profile, your application is currently undergoing a background check;

BACKGROUND CHECK: means they are matching the information you provided with their records, if you previously committed a crime, refused a visa, ordered to leave a country and if you are a threat to their security or on a wanted watch list.

REVIEW OF ELIGIBILITY: is the final check and the final stage of your application at the Visa Office. At this point, all of the components of your application are assessed by CIC. They will be checking if you actually QUALIFY for a study permit and if your application meet the requirements of the IRCC Act.
During the eligibility review, the Visa officer will then request for medical check ups as needed by the Visa Office to complete your application.

Most times, it is the Review of Eligibility that some applicants fail to meet because their applications and conditions does not meet the requirements of the IRCC Act (Insufficient funds, course correlation, limited home ties, failure to convince the visa officer that the primary intention is to study). Other checks are just standard procedure for CIC.

After successful review of applicant application and considering that there were no serious issues in the medical checkup, mispresentation, and security to ensure that you will not be a danger to Canadians should your study permit be approved, the Visa Officer will then request for your passport.

Best of luck

Sending a CSE to the processing immigration office in charge of your application doesn't pose to be an act of desperation rather it speeds up the transmission of your passport since your application has already been approved.

Below are emails of the immigration offices you can contact;

- London Immigration office
LDNIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca

-. Lagos immigration department
lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca

- Kenya, Nairobi immigration office
nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca

As to the bolded I don't share my personalized mails or letters on a public forum in an effort to avoid plagiarism. If you deem it necessary, a private communication will do.

TRV UPDATE for the week ending May 19th

This week was a relatively quiet one - though processing time remained at 9 weeks.

I would encourage those viewing the thread but have not submitted their timeline to please do, as it would help us make logical guesstimates on CIC processing time. Complete information is still needed from Dolapok, Seatea, Oni2019, Promise147, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Teejay30628, Klem28, Boe19, Ancy 26, Omarzx, Hiambenson, Wealthmiq, Teslimot01, Pelumi12, Harveygordon, Alexkrueger, Emeritus00, Chinonye94, Atamanekpen and Okoriekwe).

Finally, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better.

Thanks alot for the advise, i appreciate it. I will just adhere to it and withdraw the Application.
Frankrobbn1:

This isn't amusing.... 12 months, no medical request, no update and still counting?, I respect your tenacity to have waited this long. When applicants who applied as at that time are already studying in Canada and have completed their first academic calendar and proceeding to the 2nd year. My candid advice is that you should request for a withdrawal of your application as soon as you can. Your temporary resident application has stayed longer than ever expected. If a decision has already been made on your application, you won't be able to carry out the withdrawal until the final decision has been communicated to you. On the contrary, if there is no decision yet, your application fees will be fully refunded to the debit card where the money was originally generated. Some applicants got approved after sending a withdrawal request to the embassy while others ended up as a refusal. Trust me you have nothing to loose at this point.

Yes they offer at least one of the two programs.
Look out for programs that offer 2 year(4 semester) duration, to enable you obtain a good post graduate work scheme should you choose to stay back. Also another important factor would be location, consider the living expenses in whatever college you choose....
