I nearly bought a Huawei phone before settling for Xiaomi. With news of Google blocking Huawei's access to Android updates, I am happy I dodged a bullet.

Google hasn't blocked huawei"s update yet, it's all rumors, let's be guided please. Huawei is having some issues with the us government and a lot of speculations are out there. There are several ways around this that'll still make huawei use Google services even if the ban affects their use of android os which is very unlikely

Don't mind Trump, he is a paranoid prick. This act by Google just shows that even the US doesn't mean well for everybody but just wants to control & dominate everybody.

Other OS makers should take a cue from this silly move.

How do you sanction & ban a tech firm just based on suspicion with no clear cut evidence? angry

It's not rumour, the info is all over the place. It'll only become obvious within the coming days & weeks.

This is the same stunt pulled by the Bush administration crying weapons of mass destruction against Saddam Hussein, yet nothing to show after destroying the peace of Iraq.

China surely won't take this sitting down.

I'm very much aware of the huawei situation, Germany even released a warning that other European countries should be wary of Trump n his agenda, turns out American companies like Cisco has backdoor, this is something they couldn't find on huawei. The Android updates part is still unconfirmed yet though

Even Huawei themselves have been afraid of this for some time now. They are already working on their own OS.
As mentioned, this is not fully confirmed yet but then, the handwriting is already on the wall.
Nevertheless, if Huawei lose access to android, it will only affect their future phones, not those already in the market.

it is really unfair towards huawei though, those guys are the only ones innovating now, Samsung is even copying from them now. To me, It's all more of a market move than privacy issue. Seems US is getting scared of China

My brother, this issue is more complicated than it seems on the surface. It is difficult to take sides with either the US or Huawei/China. Honestly, I am not sure what to believe anymore. Only thing I am sure of is that each country wants to protect it's interest at all cost.

Good morning folks,
All I'd like to know this morning is who exactly amongst you did Huawei offended. First, it was Trump, then Google, now both Intel and Qualcomm.
If doesn't affect China's manufacture of US Tech, then there's more to the story.
