So guys, As expected, I'm in 300L now, My MB exam is in July A lot of things have happened mehn, It hasn't really been easy, but I wouldn't describe it as tough, cause it has been relatively easy. . Permit me to brief you guys about my progress in different subjects ANATOMY Anatomy is a very vast subject, and we're almost done with the curriculum, that means we've done Upper Limbs Lower Limbs Thorax Abdomen Head and Neck General Histology Systemic Histology Systemic Embryology . For some complicated reasons, we couldn't do General embryology, even though we're still going to do it So the major work remaining under anatomy is Neuroanatomy Well, my journey in Anatomy hasn't been really bad at all, Most of my scores have been really OK, i feel Anatomy is the course I enjoy the most, cause I'm a visual learner, and anatomy deals mostly with the structure of things I almost forgot to talk about dissection, well, so far so good, we've dissected the whole human body, and the only thing remaining is to break the skull and remove the brain The fact that I am expected to be able to name any structure in the cadaver still SCARES me, but we go dey all right I'll talk about the other two courses soon BTW My MB exam is soon, and I need prayers |
Re: Medical School: The Journey by OlumhideGold: 11:39pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
chufor: Wow, I'm surprised that some people see 'Keith Moore' as more complex than 'Last' To me, Last Anatomy is like my Last resort, In my opinion, it's for surgeons cause they squeeze so much details into few words |

Re: Medical School: The Journey by Odiaze(m): 5:05pm On Apr 18, 2020 |
Nice thread though, but why is it only Medical students thread i see mostly on Nairaland, is it that there are not any Engineering students or students from other courses in Nairaland to post details of things happening in their departments. Mehn am fraustrated with all these, everywhere u go its medicine, medical school, medical journey etc. U medical students should give other departments breathing space na at least this forum was created for all disciplines and not only for you medical students. Well all these would soon stop when i finally gain admission. Am a Chemical Engineering aspirant of UNIPORT and when i gain finally admission i will create alot of diaries and threads talking about everything and anything Engineering and life in ENGINEERING SCHOOL. Then at least all these threads of only medical stuffs will reduce a bit in Nairaland. |

Re: Medical School: The Journey by sanchex1: 11:10pm On May 23, 2020 |
So I'm actually new here ..im a 200 level medical student too of Abia state university..medics hmu Ours is kinda similar except we have to write a 200lvl exam (pre mbbs)..there's no fixed score tho ..except that I know that at least half of the class has to resit next year ..last year the cut off Was about 60% since a lot of persons scored real high.. So it's kinda survival of the fittest 1 Like |

Re: Medical School: The Journey by sanchex1: 11:35pm On May 23, 2020 |
dunsin125: ..well absu ur ready to admit upto 300 students but not upto 180 will make it to 400 level ..so it's pretty tough..but teaching n learnings nice n okay ..good environ.well to pay fess for all ur 100 level requirements..u gats hold like upto 350k+ ..after which u start paying 112k as school fees ..well they recently added 100k as professional fee while entering 100 level ..so I guess it's almost 500k for 100level medic |

It has been quite a long period of 'holiday' due to the outbreak of COVID 19, Most students have been out of school since March and it doesn't seem like resumption is anytime soon This week is a sad week to me, cause, if things had remained normal, I would have started my PART 1 MB this week, but, I believe everything happens for a reason As a (medical) student, this might be the longest free time I would have, so it is very important to use the time judiciously A lot of people won't be the same when things go back to normal, a lot of new skills would have been learnt, new knowledge, new ideas etc So I would like to admonish everyone that comes across this thread, to use this period as a SELF DEVELOPMENT period, it might not neccesarily be anything academic, cause you still have a long time to study in school Just learn a skill, I am a graphics designer and a Medical student, but within this holiday, I have improved on my skills, and I'm also in the process of learning new things Just do it! Please stay safe and follow the COVID-19 precautions in your area, Wash your hands with soap and water, use a face mask, STAY HEALTHY 1 Like |

How did you get in? As in UTME/POST-UTME score, connections or others. |
Re: Medical School: The Journey by OlumhideGold: 8:46pm On Jul 30, 2020 |
Chuksjohnleo24: Criterias for admission differs among universities, but they all have a common ground 'JAMB score' Medicine as a course, is widely known for its high 'cut off' year in, year out Using my school 'Olabisi Onabanjo University' as an example In 2017, when i was admitted, Merit Cut Off was 69, while Catchment Cut Off (Ogun State Indigenes) was around 67 JAMB score would be converted to 60 ,while Post UTME would be converted to 40 If Bolu has 300/400 in JAMB and 70/100 in Post UTME His aggregate score is (300/400)x60 + (70/100)x40 45. + 28 Which is 73 points, which beats the cut off this is just an example NOTE: At least Credits in 5 Important courses is compulsory Kindly endeavour to find out about the admission criteria of the University of your choice Stay Safe |
