I've been following your updates from page one. I love Beverly and everything till I saw the last picture.

Anytime I leave the house for more than 3 hours and come back, Beverly is always excited. She gives me hugs and always try to kiss me but I take my mouth away to avoid bacterias

I always look forward to her welcoming me home.

I feel pity for those who don't have dogs.

So I just discovered my dog has lost her last milk teeth, that the animal clinic told me would cost 15k to remove with signing of consent form if any bad thing should happen to my dog, I'm aware of it ahead of time, lmao

Now the teeth has removed by itself without any surgical procedure....

I am an ardent watcher of NATGEOWILD, today I was involved in the live action. I killed a gecko and a shrew directly(using a rat gum ofcourse, I'm not a cat) , 2 mice indirectly(both got their brains eaten by the shrew). I poured hot water on the shrew, the gecko got in the way(I love animals, but I can't risk one harming my beloved dog), I disposed all the dead pests off after ensuring they were all dead. I still think one more shrew is still alive.

PS: We don't live beside a bush, and we aren't dirty. How they get inside the house, I don't know

I think my dog might be going through silent heat, I just noticed this evening when she was grooming herself. Her vaginal region is reddish and localized swelling around her vagina lips. Well I have noticed this about 3 days ago that is may 14 2019.

I will probably go and do vaginal smear test or progesterone test to know if she is going through standing heat(estrus), just for the sake of record keeping and for future reference.

I plan on breeding her when she is at least 1 year and 3 months old.

So today she totally lost interest in food, even cooked meat that she goes crazy about, she ignored it. And she attempted to vomit twice, which I stopped on both occasions. She is also less active today, I know being less active and loss of appetite are one of the symptoms of heat in dogs... I would monitoring her till this evening.

This morning she refused to eat, that's not what I was expecting tho. So I gave her hollandia milk just to replenish lost energy since she didn't eat anything throughout yesterday. Looks like the lost of appetite is not going anywhere soon. Now I'm sure my dog is on heat, because the first time she ever had lost of appetite was only once and it was a long time ago, and she ended up eating the next day when it happened. Now it's going to 2 days now without eating, she is definitely on heat.

The previous day when I decided to take Beverly out to socialize with another puppy, she acts roughly normal as she normally does. I took Beverly out to socialize alongside Bruno(a pitbull puppy) who was also held by her owner. I was careful to avoid contact between the two dogs so they don't start a fight.

Anyway we spent about 10 minutes at an event center, when we were going back, I noticed Beverly started whimpering and leaping in the air with her front limbs in the air as if she wants to desperately attack the female dog or something(I read online that this is one of the symptoms of dog in heat).

So today Beverly and Simba(a GSD puppy owned by Johnnyn1) met each other, today was the first day I would bring an outside dog into the house to come meet Beverly. I was expecting Beverly to get very stressed about the situation and be barking, but I was very shocked when Beverly was mellow and extremely calm.

Normally she would be hyperactive in the presence of a guess. Now she just greeted the guest gently and just observed the Simba, approaching her occasionally to sniff her. She even made a dog play gesture(butt raised up, front limb stretched out), I was so impressed and happy that all my thoughts towards Beverly being unfriendly towards other dogs are completely wrong.

Or maybe it's because she was on heat, I dunno, I was just happy she didn't react badly.

Now my dog still refused to eat anything, even cooked meat she didn't eat. She vomited whitish sticky substance this evening, I just cleaned it up, and informed the vet doctor who advised me to bring her for a checkup tomorrow....

So my dog is getting more active now. My sister that has been away from him for 2 weeks now, came back home and Beverly was excited to see her... She even played as usual. She drank some Yoghurt and ate some fish and rice after much persuasion.

This. morning I caught her eating cracker biscuit, dunno where she got it from. She managed to eat the bread I gave her... So I'm more relieved now than before that there is nothing wrong with my dog other than being in heat.

YEEEY!!! Beverly is back to normal. She is playing well now, she ate well this morning, and she is acting normal like she always do... Glad she is totally fine..

If you don't mind, I would like some few tips on potty training a puppy....

in the absence of treats, get an old news paper or cut out a piece of material from wood cardboard and place it somewhere that would be convenient for you and your dog. Truth is, after 15-20mins of play or food, your dog will naturally try poop or urinate . so keep an eye on your watch and yoir pup and take them to this point as soon as you notice the accident and while they are doing the toilet ritual, encourage to continue by simply praising them vocally like " good boi or girl, go ahead and do your thing and try rubbing their head and chest after the ritual .........etc
This helps as it will allow you to command them later to pee or poop when you want them to as they believe there's love for them after the ritual and trust me, dogs loves "LOVE " MORE THAN WE HUMANS

Chairman thanks for the explanation I appreciate it. But that was like over 5 months ago that I asked, Beverly is already potty trained a very long time ago.

That's the first time Beverly will actually b concentrating so much on her own chew toy instead of people's shoes and wire cord at home...

I was pleased when I caught her seriously chewing it, I'm in the right direction to correcting that bad habit of chewing shows and forbidden items. Apart from taking them away from her reach, this is one effective way to correct it.

So this early morning while taking Beverly for a quick walk, on getting to a junction a man tried teasing my dog as of to scare her. Guess what Beverly did, she lunged at him and let out a deep bark, I pulled her close and continued walking.

So on my way I met a Muslim guy approaching us from behind, he was doing a dog calling sound but I was just going, but this guy persisted and ran towards us to pet Beverly, so I allowed him, I don't know maybe he used his hand to rub the ground or something, his hands were dirty, it stained her white coat, damn. *facepalm*

Anyway I left and continued my walk for about 20 minutes before returning home.

I still remember the first days of me attempting to walk Beverly. It was always a struggle, she use to either pull me or refuse to walk and just sleep on the ground. But now, it's always smooth, she hardly pull me, nor refuse to walk, she usually walk right beside me, even without me doing any formal heel training on her, she has learnt to always walk by my side.

So today Johnnyn1 came visiting with his Lhasa apso Ruby. Beverly was cautious as usual, observing Ruby from a distance and occasionally moving in for a sniff. Ruby was calm and watching her step cos she was in a new environment. I performed the Wendy Volhard puppy aptitude test on Ruby cos she is about 7 weeks old which is the recommended age for testing a pup for her personality.

Beverly wouldn't let me spend any time alone with ruby to do the aptitude test on her, she would keep scratching the door and watching all I'm doing like a jealous wife. Anyway I completed the 10 sections of the test and was able to determine that Ruby was a perfect pup for a first time owner, she scored mostly 4 on the assessment. Meanwhile Beverly scored mostly 2, although I performed the test on her when she was already 8 months old, I used my previous knowledge of Beverly to score her, my Beverly has a challenging personality for a first time dog owner, but my taste for knowledge and my unrelenting attitude to find a solution to every problem got me through raising Beverly as the perfect pet regardless of her puppy aptitude test result.

Eventually Beverly started playing with Ruby as you can see in this video, it's the first time Beverly would play with another dog since I got her, because I don't have other dogs around, in the past she is usually reluctant to even move close to other dogs, now she is playing with one, it was a wonderful sight for me.

My dog was straining this morning just to defecate, she was letting out some cries just to defecate, took her long(about 5 minutes) to finish defecating, the stool was almost Stone hard, I tried breaking it with lots of strength before it crumbled. It wasn't white(meaning no bones digested)...

There is always clean water in her bowl, I always play with her everyday and exercise her. I do add food rich in fiber to her diet like inside of an orange after sucking it, little bread, carrot etc... So she has enough fiber passing through her GIT.

This is the first time it will ever happen to my dog. I even played with her this early morning before it happened...
Any solution to this? or should I watch and see if it happens again?

So I was grooming my lhasa this evening as usual. A lady came to do some work at home, then she saw my lhasa on the grooming table with all my grooming tools, comb, brush, demating rake, spray etc.

She was so shocked that she opened her mouth agape, wondering why anyone would want to groom a dog as though they were grooming a human with long hair.

I just couldn't hold my laughter because of the raw shock she expressed, like it's something she has never seen nor heard of before in her entire life.

We have a long way to go in Nigeria in the aspect of pet awareness. We don't yet understand the importance of owning pets in Nigeria, at least for a large majority in Nigeria.

Majority in Nigeria still find it to be very strange when someone takes very good care of an animal.
