Another solid 10 storey Hotel berths in Owerri. Rockview and Concorde are 9 storey meaning it is now the tallest Hotel in Owerri.

Is this the only set of businesses that Owerri can attract?

If I get a chance to govern Imo State, my first move would be to place an embargo on hotel businesses.

Rochas once announced it in 2011...perhaps he lacked the guts to implement it.

This nonsense is getting outta hand.

People should invest in the real sector or knowledge economy

How about real estate?

I hear accommodation in Owerri is the most expensive in South East...why's everyone rushing to build a hotel?

We have enough hotels and casinos now

Wow, Owerri is really taking more shape with these hotels. Owerri needs just one thing and no city east of the Naija will smell it in terms of night life and even beauty. We needs quality roads in the nooks and crannies of Owerri. The government should do a census on all the hotels in Owerri and make sure that roads leading to those places are tarred. Let them not also forget street lights.

Why is las Vegas building more hotels? It's because that's what it's known for. People keep forgetting that hotel is also an industry. if Owerri can build these hotels and tourist places and attract people from all over Nigeria then they should keep it up.

I beg to differ.
Imo State must diversify.
Else, we will lose our morals completely.
Nigeria is not America...there are certain things we cannot manage at this point in Nigeria.
Hotels have a way of harboring criminals and encouraging underage prostitution.
If you consider the positive effects, you must also weigh the negative consequences.

Lol Imo state is under curse. Why is it that it is only brothels that is good for Imo state. Why is it that industrial complexes are not good for Imo state?

Why can't Imolites invest in real sector and diversify their state's economy. Every year Imo is going in circle. IGR is zero, economic activities is zero.

Real estate is booming across the nooks and crannies but the bedrock of Owerri seems to be on the hospitality which attracted the real estate which has attracted furniture and roof tiles manufacturing industries already before Okorocha left. A lot of industries like food processing, water production, livestock farming and tile manufacturing plants have also been established within the last 5 years which I believe is linked to the booming hospitality and real estate. I will just post some of the industries. Meanwhile I heard this is Hilton Hotel at 40-40 roundabout.

This is BS and you know it. How about you stop oil exploration since it breed militancy.

There will be criminals everywhere regardless. If these hotels can create employment for the restive population, i see crime rate reducing rather than increasing.

Abogwara aka Imo1stson, i saw this hotel around New Owerri when Ihedioha invited us recently, they were almost begging us to come at a minimal rate because of low patronage because there's no even roads in and out of the hotel

This is false, and you know it.
Nigeria's Delta has a peculiar challenge.
No matter how anyone looks at it, we must build an all-round economy.
If hospitality was that important, why hasn't the economy of Nevada overtaken those of California and New York?
Biko this madness is becoming preposterous.

The road joins Port-Harcourt road with Douglas but erosion is threatening one side of the bridge done by past Imo Government. It is an NDDC project and doesn't look solid and well aligned as usual with their roads.

Their road is good but the owner failed woefully in the interior. He needs to understand the sector is highly competitive now.

Make enquiries about luxury tiles Umuaga Nguru in Ngor-Okpala. It is the only coated aluminium rooftiles manufacturing plant in this part of Nigeria.

Nevada does not need to overtake New York or California for it to be seen as wealthy. Every state cannot be the richest at the same time. Nevada is doing well mostly because if Las Vegas. Outside Las Vegas there isn't much going on there. States have to use their comparative advantages to better themselves. Every state cannot have the kind of diversified economy that you speak of. Some states will definitely be dominated by a particular sector and as long as it's bringing in the bucks, then i say go for it.

Abogwara, how's this road good? I am talking about the entrance through gate. You can't actually drive through the gate due to bad road.

The management is poor if not they would have arranged a well paved connection to the road pending when the dualization is completed.

This is a world-class medical center built by an investor somewhere in Awka, why can't Imolites copy good things elsewhere rather than littering everywhere with brothels. Why is it that health facilities, industrial complexes are not good for Imo state? Why? Lol

And who says there are no 5-star hotels in NYC and California?
Yet, big retail chains, auditing and financial services firm, investment incubators, IT giants, and manufacturing behemoths are rushing to invest in those cities.

Again, government has a way of managing everything.
Speaking of competitive edge, I keep wondering why those hotels prefer Imo State...I can't seem to wrap my head around it.
There's no competitive edge here...it's not like Imo State has beaches and mind-blowing tourist attractions that make it unique in the region.

People are just building hotels because they see everyone else building it. Just like the way everyone jumped in sachet water production because it became a money-spinner. A typical African man isn't creative...he just wants an easy way to making money.

I think I have made my point abundantly clear.

I rest my case.

You are right. I watched a TVC news yesterday of an mbaise man who raped his own mother! Too much of hotels have damaged the morals of Imo girls. And it has left a huge employment gap to fill in the state. After FUTO churns out so many science students, there are no factories or tech firms to employ them, so they flee to Anambra or Rivers state in searbh of work. Again, the overconcentration of everything in owerri is taking its toll on the other parts of Imo. The hinterlands of Imo state are the most backwards, neglected and most horrible-looking in Igboland. The hinterlands of Enugu and Ebonyi are even manageable.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by ImoRiverr: 8:28pm On Jun 15, 2019
Abogwara stop your propaganda, it doesn't help Imo state in anyway. If there's a diversified economy in Imo state generally it will help the state to grow

Now tell me one thing that takes anyone to Owerri- business? Industrial concerns? None of the above.

Hotel business cannot be the only economic driver of a whole state, it will be disastrous, because there are no strong real sector like industrial and commercial concerns.

I believe Ihedioha will try his best in this regard

I did a Google search i can't find this hospital. I know the owner he is from Anambra. He has his hospital in PH, around stadium road.

Please where's the Imo best hospital? Don't make me post the poultry farm called IMSUTH here, which is actually the best in Imo state.
