I am still waiting for the clear out Solskjaer talked about or is it about clearing out the best players in the team?
Whether we admit it or not, Solskjaer does not have the CV to attract top players. Manchester United has the name but nowadays, players want to work with the best managers. With Moyes, we could only get Fellaini, Van Gaal came and we saw good players coming same with Mourinho but with Solskjaer, nobody is really interested and that's making negotiations drag on. If we had Pep/Klopp/Ancelotti as manager, players won't think twice before coming.
In conclusion, we have to overpay to get the players we want because apart from money and history, we offer next to nothing currently, rookie coach, drab football, Europa League, average players.

The club is bigger than any player, so anyone can leave if they are not interested in playing for the club. To me that's not a problem.

The problem is that once these guys leave we are left with Ed, Ole, our scouts and the so called board who are clueless about getting the kind of quality that would improve the team which is one of the reasons the supposed elite players are wanting to leave.

The irony of the matter again is that these supposed elite players themselves were blowing hot and cold during the season and did not exactly live up to their supposed status as elite players. How many of them really stepped up during the last season when things were going south?

When we meet a well oiled Man city team is when we will know that the gulf we saw last season between both teams is just child's play except city contrive to mess up.
