The police force headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday, paraded four suspects for exam malpractices committed in the just concluded West African Senior School Certificate Examination Council (WASSCE).

Three of the suspects are teachers and staff of various secondary schools in Anambra and Imo states. They are Ibuokanma Darlington, 36, Ernest Kelechì, 33, Godstime Onuoha and Uche Chukwuma, Darlington, 17.

The suspects were said to be in possession of WASSCE questions papers on their mobile phones which they sent to WhatsApp platforms of students at the time of their arrest.

They were arrested at the examination centre where they were posted as supervisors. The suspects, during an interview with newsmen, admitted to have had the question papers on their mobile phones.

Everything bad with the educational system. Teachers and parents aid and abet malpractices. The result is SSCE certificate holders who aren't half as intelligent as their papers. We are killing the system this way. Serious checks and balances are necessary to correct and control this, just like many checks and balances are being used to put malpractice in check in the JMB level. We can have CCTV installed in every examination hall as well as stringent punishment for those effecting leakages.

The rising rate of exam malpractice is alarming

Nowadays most students prefer not to read at all they are certain that "runs" will be readily waiting for them.

Instead of arming themselves with knowledge they arm their pocket with money to bribe examiners.

What does this cause half baked graduates and students whom the labor market cannot employ

This shouldn't be a sin if schools as well can collect huge amount of money from students in d name of helping them to write WAEC...... Gone r the days u sit down and read for exams. Students relax on social media an eve before exam knowing fully well they gonna be assisted in d exam hall. No one cares about waec and jamb again,it can be manipulated.

WAEC should also notify the public when it unravels the insider that leaked the questions to the teachers. Let all involved face the full wrath of the law.

I think a pattern is begining to emerge that states in this region are a bunch of chronic cheaters.. smh!
