forgiveness: Call your top 5 players in the French league then and let me call my top five from the EPL and let us compare the quality. No too much talk. It is only you that will compare the French league to the EPL. You are just turning in circles to escape the true point. If UEFA has finally moved Manchester City recently, good for them. Does not change the fact that the Coefficient is babash. The point is, did Babayaro play for an average team? No. Did Taiwo play in a Mickey mouse league? Yes. Trying to dribble will not change the fact. |

sontoly: It was a 1996 rating and by then, France had top quality players. They featured well in Euro 1996, in their pool, they had the likes of Karembu, Ibrahim Ba, Eric Cantona, David Ginola, Cristoph Dugarry, Didier Dechamps, Lama, Barthez and a host of super stars. Do not mind forgiveness, he knows Chelsea was not mediocre in any way under Babayaro. He is just trying hard to deceive himself that Taiwo was King, when he was in a mickey mouse league compared to Babayaro who was dining with the Kings. |

Guys like Naby keita & Ighalo may finish stronger than guys that came with 100% fitness level. I hope the "Rohr is corrupt by including injured Ighalo" crew are still here. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: If l was too choose an academy it would be all about OPPORTUNITY. There are not huge differences in training methods and facilities with the big clubs and that includes some in the championship and even lower. Look at how many players have gone on to bigger things from Charlton & Southampton for instance and compare that to Manchester city. I am not talking just about Manchester city but the top EPL academies. Quite a few years ago Manchester United paid £1 million for a 16 year old player from Burnley. He came with multiple accolades within 2/3 years of leaving Man U he was in non league. He was Pogba team mate. This is a view from first hand experience not speculative assumption. |

Humility017: Firstly, you jumped into this particular discourse without any idea what the central issue and or question is, that prompted my comments. Then you make a negative emotive prejudiced totally unrelated and quite condescending allegation. The term HATER is very apt where you are concerned. Can you explain how my comments are hypocritical or maybe you dont what hypocrisy means. ❓ Keeping my comments in the strict context of my response to the proposition that all Senegal's players are bang average apart from Sadio Mane. Your premeditated dislike completely blinds your sense of reasoning. Your irrational dislike is infantile but still clearly evident. I would say you should be ashamed but you clearly have none, and you are not Sorry. Look at screen shot below and then look at yourself. 3 Likes 1 Share

komekn: Are you talking of Ravel Morrison? Men, that kid was an exceptional talent. Definitely the most talented player in his set and even more talented than Pogba. Morrison's problem was him not leaving the hood in his mind. He was not ready to go. I remember once reading a news article of him getting caught by the police with his friends who had a gun. Ferguson was the one who buried the case to save the young man. The opportunity was there but the player needs to put in work to succeed. Clubs like City give players huge opportunity better than the smaller clubs. |

Humility017: Same feeling I had after that game vs Burundi. I really never gave SE much chance in this AFCON but with what I saw in that game, I think we can stand any team. I'm particularly happy the team has depth - players that can come from the bench to change game if things are not going well - as it happened in that game. We still have other quality players like Osinmhen, Kalu and Simon who have not even tasted action. 1 Like |

I generally like the fact that the so-called small teams have stepped up. Burundi, Madagascar, and Uganda have done well so far. Zimbabwe has always been a level higher than these guys in African football, so I wont count Zimbabwe. 1 Like |

sontoly: It's for league ranking and not for country. The UEFA country ranking was as the result of the UEFA country coefficients points accumulated over the period of 5 years by the representatives of each country's clubs. See the UEFA country coefficients. Did you see France, Germany etc or clubs? Read the info at the bottom of the last snapshot.

TheGoodJoe: Ravel l know well his problem was simply INDISCIPLINE. Player was of Ghanaian origin if I'm right, just checked now. John Cofie now 26+, he played with Pogba and like l said, Man U paid £1 million pounds for him then, he was actually only 14. |

forgiveness: CAF Team of the Year award started in 2005 when Babayaro had left the stage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAF_Team_of_the_Year I strongly believe if it existed in the 90s, Babayaro would have made it at least 2 times. Babayaro was highly rated in his playing days. 4 Likes 1 Share |

komekn: you're that man blessed with a diamond at home but will go aside and start admire and long for his neighbour bronze. you really need to understand that many of this players oshimen and chuks you see as average all because they're not in England will make the squad of the 24 teams participating in this afcon. modified cc: komekn so sorry for the harsh words I used on you yesterday, please don't take it to heart though. just don't understand why you berate super eagles players that much...but uphold other nationals playing same league with them. the guy who scored that Senegal second goal plays in Belgium... I am so sure if he was called up by the super eagles coach you would kicked against it...just same way you sometimes berate oshimen. sorry for my harsh words...I must say it wasn't appropriate 1 Like |

KevinDein: I tell you bro...the only team play which pleased my eyes...is Senegal. they're fast and skillful though they appear wasteful too in the final third... but to be honest Senegal will surely go far...they can beat Egypt easily. just what Nigeria players need right now is serious psychological upbeat... they really need inspiration to make them believe they have what it takes to win this trophy. I will love to see Nigeria vs Senegal final |

Jarus: I tell you...do you know that Burundi players were promised 83k dollars on Saturday had it been they beat the super eagles... Nigeria really played well for a first match like that and after the illness in camp... the only team for now which pleased my eyes to watch is Senegal they're fast, skillful and deadly.... they're a team to watch out for...thank God there will be VAR in the Qfinals.. those goals scored by guinea and Madagascar under VAR may be ruled off as offside... Qfinals will be deadly... Senegal is really a team to watch out for...even Egypt will be scared of them... Nigeria too will do well...all we need is for the players to be psyched. 4 Likes |

Jarus: Celestine Babayaro still played in EPL until 2007. I know him wella because he made me a Chelsea fan. Besides, he was a bench warmer at Chelsea. Make I know lie because I remembered I got provoked whenever he was not in the team or benched. How could such a player win such? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 9:53am On Jun 24, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe: NO THEY DO NOT. Again talkin from first hand experience. They create the delusion of Opportunity but there is none. They put you in a unrealistic comfort zone, you will be paid very well to stay in the illusion of opportunity. Sometimes £15-25k a week it's a very nice and comfortable Illusion that keeps you deluded. Once you hit 16/17 you need to.be playing first team football irrespective of the level. That will propel your development. Playing youth football will stunt your growth, development and progress. In addition another problem is that at the top clubs youth academies you are playing " pretty football " technical and nice with fantastic pitches and good referee's. You go on European tours to the creme de La creme of Europe's elite clubs. It's very nice. However, you are not prepared for the, Nitty Gritty Hard Knocks, Fight and die football outside of the EPL. Outside of the EPL you will essentially fight for the ball you will not get diagonal through balls that split defences. It's now police game. It's kick and rush it's very ugly. These academy boys are not prepared for that. These top EPL clubs are only looking at 3/4 players in each year from age 9/10 to U23 that's barely 15%, as potential first team players. The rest 35% are business transactions to be sold to other clubs if possible and the bottom 50% segment are there to make up the numbers to be released for nothing when they are no longer useful. HARSH REALITY. In a smaller club they simply don't have the money to keep players on and in comfort. They academy intrinsic to thier survival and part of the club's business plan modek for viability. There is little room for passengers. Once you hit 16/17 and if any good you are in the first team. Then if you have a good season you are kept on as a huge asset to be sold for big money at the right time. Example at Fulham are Dembele, Ryan Ssegnon, or at Charlton Ademola, Gomez, etc. Sometimes the players are hyped ( marketing) to generate interest from the big clubs and we quickly sold before they find out they are not that good. So if l was advising a young player, depending on his position and unique skill set. I would be choosing a smaller club with REAL OPPORTUNITY not the ILLUSION of opportunity. When you get your REAL OPPORTUNITY if you can play good quality technical football in that agricultural kick and rush league. You are getting the best training available. It's very hard to be playing technical football when you are Surrounded by hatchet men and carpenterd. But if you can. Well when you get to the EPL you will find it much easier and will excel. Current examples are Leicester city midfielder Maddison now killing it in the EPL. Speculative examples are Luton Town 21 years old James Justin LB wanted by many in the EPL. Price seems to be in excess of £12 million a player who played league one. |

Mickael2: I was not really pleased with your long epistle the other day after the super eagles match... but I could not reply back because of your technical knowledge of the game... had it been I never watched the match I would have believed you wholesale. will be waiting for your write up after the Guinea match.... and for Senegalese players.... they're good, fast and young just like Nigeria players... what will stand both teams out when they play is tactics and team bond. they play so fast....and skilful. there will beat Egypt so easily should they meet...... the way they played Tanzania shows class.... absolute class. Nigeria would have beat Tanzania too but not as fast as Senegal... Burundi was definitely a hard nut to crack and moreover the sickness issues in camp was not helpful... |

TheGoodJoe: If UEFA coefficient is babash, what do we call your opinion? Gurumaraji!? Bhuhahahaha! As at the time Celestine Babayaro played in the EPL it was a Mickey mouse league because it was outside the top 5 leagues in the world. As at the time, Taye Taiwo played in the Ligue 1, it was the 4th best league in the world and Marseille was UEFA cup finalists. |
