You are right,a bird in hand is better than none.the devil you know is better than an imaginary angel .the minorities as at then produced 90% of the resources in the east but they were neglected.only igbos were given loans in the then eastern devt bank

Minorities both in the Western, Eastern and Northern region were all dominated and subdued. it's not actually an Igbo thing but a human trait to always want to lord over small or minor groups. it's just so unfortunate that the Northern minorities haven't got a voice till this day.

My only ish is people trying to drag the minorities into a union we all know will favor a single ethnic group, while I can't speak for the entire southern minorities, never will I support my ethnic group being dragged into a union with a SINGLE ethnic group, it's a recipe for disaster. I don't want my kids Fighting for FREEDOM.

If that were all true, they would not have taken up arms against Nigeria

If the minorities were actually happy and content within Nigeria they would not take up arms to destroy that which they are happy with

But from the minorities we have had, Niger Delta Avengers(NDA), Movement for the emancipation of the Niger Delta(MEND), Niger Delta Volunteer Force(NDVF) amongst others

These are groups that took up arms, fought the Nigerian government, killed people and destroyed Oil sectors.

The minorities have never been happy with Nigeria, they only remain in Nigeria because they dont have a choice.

An interesting perspective
But it is easier to fight for your right when so many are involved but when they are few involved Nigeria will offer no assistance they would be at the mercy of the international scene who might ignore

Yes, no major ethnic group has the interest of the minorities at heart. Just like a man trying to sleep with a lady, all promises are lies and unrealistic.

We don't have any major ethnic group in the region, the influence of Urhobo, Ijaw, Efik or Bini can easily be tamed by a combined force of other minorities. So no fear of domination, same can't be said if we are to involve a major ethnic group.

Its unlikely it would have been the utopia they dreamed of

Why?

1.demographics: too many ethnic groups packed in a small geographical location can be problematic in terms of power sharing, language barrier, and nationalism which may be a staging point for ethnic tensions. It would have been easier if it's only ibos that contain Biafra but we all know it not only ibos that will contain biafra(Ijaws, efik, ibibio, etc)

2. foreign powers: we all know that anywhere that is rich with abundant resources in Africa and multiple ethnic groups. foreign powers tend to introduce tensions so as to freely steal their resources. Which they are even doing with Nigeria currently and other places like congo(lithium), libya, Sierra lone(diamonds), Niger(uranium), and so one.

The SS tribes can only outnumber the Igbos if they are combined but individually, they are not up to the Igbos.

Well if you analyse the current state of the south east alone you wont get a near perfect answer because had they seceded there would have been frictions btw them and the federal government of Nigeria

Besides they have received Federal Allocations

They enjoy from our current international relations

Look at south sudan and eritrea for instance
Aunty our main problem is not federal allocation and other peanut the govt is throwing at us.If Biafra had succeeded, there would've been another serene, prosperous, energetic and violence free nation of the African origin... But all hope is not yet lost.

I think theres said to be large oil and gas deposits in abia mostly around ukwa axis, oguta and ohaji axis in imo and anambra east lga of anambra.exploration and drilling activities is increasing.there's rice in ebonyi, limestone in enugu and ebonyi, coal in enugu, gold and diamond in anambra etc
How would you export those through Nigerian ports without Nigeria's consent?
Do you still think you in any part of Nigeria would still freely live in Nigeria without her authorization?
Do you know if you now now need visas into Nigeria for anything unlike now?

-The real question is why aren’t those groups in charge of Nigeria for most of its creation, creating the “enabling environment”, where competence determines the societal hierarchy?

-Why aren’t Nigerians asking the actual fundamental questions? Why always Igbo this, Igbo that? As if Igbos run Nigeria.

-Igbos have done more for Nigeria, than Nigeria will ever do for Igbos. Fact!

-Biafra would have been and will definitely be far much better than Nigeria. 100% .
Biafra surrounded by Nigeria would be better?

That's laughable
The minorities in the SS have always dreaded the Igbo dominance and Gowon gave them what they wanted by granting them their States, old South Eastern state and old Rivers state.

-South East is still very much under the stranglehold and occupation of the Nigerian State, military decree “constitution”, laws and the mediocrity being in a backward State brings. That is why! Anyone with half a brain will know that. It’s really that simply.

-What is SS oil? I’m from Owaza myself and we don’t even benefit half of what accrues from the crude. If crude oil is Nigerians only interest in our land, how about they take it and leave us in peace? Nations without Natural resources are doing just fine, as those resources are indeed useless without the skills and knowledge to turn them into finished desirable materials. Oil this, Oil that!... what was the value of those oils to the communities before the first European got there? I will tell you for free: Zero Value!

-If oil is all you care about, your knowledge of Nation building is really rudimentary. Which shows you’re really one of the victims of the sham of an experiment called Nigeria.

It's not mineral resources that makes a country great. Nigeria has all the mineral resources you can think about, Oil, Gas, Coal, Gold, Lime stone, Bauxite, and many more. Yet Nigeria is not great.

Some countries like Japan, South Korea, Switzerland dont have anything but all 3 countries are amongst the 15 richest countries in the world. What made them rich? It is called human resources

The amount of electronics Japan and South Korea make and sell in a month, Nigeria cannot make if they sell Oil for a whole year and thats just electronics. I'm not even going into cars, planes or even agriculture.

The reason I believe that Biafra would have been succrssful had it succeeded is thst the Igbos are a very resourceful and resilient people. Igbos would have looked beyond Oil and at its human potential and produced great things that the world can appreciate. The reason Nigeria cannot progress is because they can never see beyond Oil.

Igbos are successful people, all they need to be great is their own separate country where they can run their affairs as nothing great ever comes out of Nigeria
Nigeria can make or mar Biafra if she decides so stop feeling you can do it alone because it would be surrounded by Nigeria

Its not about enemies even
The minority will feel safe in a country that has already begun its journey than another that is still starting. .. why atleast they know that their rights were protected in Nigeria... than an unsecured biafra... will you nkt prefer to stay in Nigeria than an unsure life in a developing country
In case nobody told you, the minorities in the former Eastern region in Uyo, Calabar, PH, Benin, Warri, Sepele, etc were the ones who told the Nigerian army where the Igbos were living when they invaded the area, stop relying on the SS minorities.
They hate Igbos, Asari Dokubo comes to mind.
Several examples too

That's exactly what happened and you know it. The fear of Ibo domination in a Biafra drove the southern minorities into supporting the federal cause. It's documented history

Well that made things much worse for them because now they are dominated by 3 groups instead of one. Somebody says he is afraid of one ethnic group dominating him then helps a situation that make three ethnic group to dominate him. I laugh in Spanish

They don't want an Igbo domination, they prefer other bigger ethnic groups checkmating the Igbos, if you don't like their decision, report to the nearest police station.
They don't like or want Igbo domination, simple.

We talking about minority suppression in biafra

For instance had Biafra been successful the igbos would be the forerunners of the country... look at America for example there are black people there but not up to the majority.... why despite migration and inbreeding....

At least in Biafra, the minorities would have had only Igbos to contend with. In Nigeria the have Igbo/Yoruba/Hausa-Fulani to contend with.

I have never heard of anyone who solved a problem by making it triple.

Talking about allocation, what allocation actually goes to the South East in present day Nigeria? South East has the least number of states and local governments as compared to other regions. When allocation is shared, South East gets the least in the grand scheme of things. Yet, in education, human development index, trade and commerce they still tower above every other region with that meagre resources.

IGR simply means tax and government revenue. I ask you, name one federal government project in the South East. This is a region without a functional international Airport or inland seaport. South East is not even part of the current rail line project. Name one federal government owned dam in Igbo land. What reasonable IGR can you expect with the disadvantaged position they have been subjected to by Nigeria?

Is it not a miracle that even with the meagre resources, economic contrains, red tape and bottleneck conditions, this group have refused to check out. Their kids come out tops in all national examinations. Their sport men, creatives, intelligentia and even politicians are making names for themselves beyond this shores.

You can continue your bants, I was compelled to quote you because of the obvious stench emanating from your blissful ignorance.
