What can I say.

First half play not impressive.

Mistake or not

With this kind of play, they won't reach the semi final. Mikel has no business in this team likewise John ogu. Samuel kalu is also not in this game. We need iwobi, chukwueze and possibly osimen.

How did Mikel regress this much within year? He was decent a year ago in the world cup but all of a sudden he's struggling against players plying their trade in the 5th tier of French football.

How we fight back in this game will determine a lot.. I've been patient to make my verdict on this team. I think we do lots of passes without any real initiative to carve out defenses.
Creativity in the final third is missing. Why they press individually is what I don't understand.

Did we record any shots on target? After we conceded did we make real attempts to score? Is kalu really fit to play yet and it doesn't seem baba ejima can play AM again. Well what do I know, am just an arm chair analyst.

Kalu OUT Mikel OUT
Rohr has favourites and this favouritism is killing him softly.... Kalu is just coming up after the ailment issue...why rush him? and for Ighalo... it's like they're both in secret deals.

Balogun shouldn't be ball watching we know but no one is blaming Ogu for that silly back pass to Balogun. The guy is an idiot!

Let's view this game objectively. What has Ighalo done wrong? Mikel has slowed the game down and has been displacing passes all day. One would have expected more balls to get to Kalu but somehow he is missing. Etebo for all his work is yet to make that defence splitting pass. Ahmed musa needs to make those runs and pray that the pass gets to him. In summary, we are too slow and predictable
this game need iwobi and ndidi....

Kalu is good. But I think generally we rely more on individuality. We need to work more as a team and reduce unnecessary runs, holding of the ball and dribbles. One player can do that, but Kalu, Musa, Etebo, Mikel etc are all trying to hold on to the ball and dribble.

Truidstar:
We need games like this to weed out the chaff. Mikel no be am, Kalu is a shadow of himself, ighalo back to type. Writing Onyekuru and Osimhen do Rohr?

I don't understand our coach.. Why bring Onyekuru to Afcon if you won't use him. He has played all other wingers apart from him

Ogu is at fault...this should be his last tournament for Nigeria.
I have not seen any input from the player I was expecting to make an impact...at all. so disappointed

Balogun should have reacted quickly it's not like he didn't know an opponent was on him. That is a dangerous position to play like that.

The ineffectiveness of our flanks is a major concern

Don't just start your crap talk Mr.Man. Awaziem had been very decent so far and have been seen pumping forward to help the attack on the right. He is yet to put a foot wrong, have given enough forward passes and have been seen in the final third trying to provide an extra outlet down the right. So your views on Awaziem are very very wrong. No wonder you are on that Special list. grin

komekn:

I disagree he is pressing but in isolation, our front line is not pressing in unison as a collective.

The Madagascar team is working hard and pressing as a collective.

I want to add that Awaziem brings nothing to the table.

Holding the ball for no reason instead of making the right passes. How can we have two fast wingers and yet we are not opening up the game. Remove Mikel and the goals will come in

That's the point. And this have been obvious from the start of the tournament, but i've been largely forgiving hoping they improve. We do lots of passes, so we should be carving out chances after chances with all that possession

It is simple... Remove Ogu/Mikel, bring in Iwobi ...Remove Ighalo ,bring in Osimehn/onuachu ... The remaining sub should be Onyekuru .
Nonsense and ighalo

Musa was fouled but the referee refused to give penalty.

This is where we will need VAR.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 5:58pm On Jun 30, 2019
One costly error is what separates both teams.

Kalu has had some nice touches but isn't imposing his self well enough.

What was Ogu thinking with that pass? Leon should take more of the blame as he totally fell asleep. Imagine trying to shield the air while your opponent has already made his move?

Mikel should be playing deeper. He's not offering intensity upfront despite a few nice touches.
Once again we've shown that we're not able to breakdown teams that sit deep. We even struggled the few times we got pressed.
Mikel does not have the intensity to play as a 10 anymore. Let's stop this nonsense of playing him as a 10. Regista or he gets benched. Simple.

Balogun raised his hand for the pass. It was given to him. He had all the time to go meet the ball. Rather he was waiting for d ball. Pls don't bring Ogu into it.
