It would be a welcome development, it would be on time for the next copa. That way he will rest from South American harassment.

The world has witnessed some super midfield duos of;

Deco and Ronaldinho Gaucho
Modric and Tony Kroos
Scholes and Ryan Giggs
Lampard and Michael Essien
Makalele and Zinedene Zidane
Pogba and Andreas Pirlo
Alonso and Mesuit Ozil
Ribery and Arjen Robben
Kaka and Clarance Seedorf

But for some wierd reasons, over the years a group of football experts still want we football novices to agree that only Xavi and Iniesta can make a footballer win 4 ballon dors in a row and score 91 goals in a calendar year.

CR7 fans who want to rip Messi and his stans ad infinitum have my blessing. If you think otherwise, you must not have been online from 2010 to 2012 when Messi fans went full-on psycho on CR7 and his fans.

Like then Messi was on track to win like 2 COPA, 1 WC, 1 Confederations cup at least with Barca looking like they could dominate forever.

To see all that fizzle into a mirage and see CR7 against all odds equal the Balon D'Or gap and eclipse him on International trophies is a sight to behold. Especially with Messi fans now humble, making excuses for their MCM, and forcibly acknowledging that Messi can't have it all.

I see this as a who laughs last, laughs the best kinda situation. KARMA for all the st*pid sh*t Messi stans have said in years past.

PS: As for the just-concluded CONMEBOL competition, it's a disgrace; and Messi has the right to react however he likes. He just needs to be cool with the repercussions. Buffon said similar.

If same sh*t had happened to CR7, I know we his fans would have doxxed the ref of the Brazil match and some would have sent death threats. Our blood dey hot.

The problem is that Messi fans are in a fix, because they're usually the ones who are the behavioral police talking about how Messi is humble, how anyone complaining is a sore loser, and all the other amateurish BS.

Neymar said same thing about refereeing, got 3 match CL ban and no Messi fan was saying then that Neymar had a point. But now that Messi has said same, we all are supposed to suspend the "good behavior" yardstick they've trumpeted for over a decade, and make an exception. Just like how they said it wasn't proper for Cristiano to call himself the best ever; then Messi poses with a goat and there goes the humility tag suspension again.

Oga when that footballer is Messi, then a legendary midfield can push a great high up the all time list.

Ronaldo also played with two of those pairs you mentioned and no one discounts their efforts.

Let's not pretend like if Messi played in the Spanish NT, he wouldn't have broken WC records?

Without Xavi and Iniesta, Messi's peak would not have been that illustrious. As we've seen since they left and when Messi plays internationally. Messi is a system player. The only system player in the top 5 or even 10 GOAT list.

Oga

If you genuinely think that Mesi has not been superb playing for Argentina then your delusion and hatred is incurable.
The fact he's not won any of 3 finals does not mean that he has not been excellent.
Like it or not Messi has been Argentina's best player since Maradona.

You praise Ronaldo to high heavens playing for Portugal;
Despite that he played and got to the final at Euro 2016 and basically 'missed' the final.
Messi played to the final and lost on penalties.

Meaning that both players had no impact on the finals they played,; yet based on these 2 situations you declare Ronaldo excellent for Portugal and Messi flop for Argentina.

Oga this logic stinks!

On the other hand, playing with superb midfielders is playing with superb midfielders.

If you like play with Xavi and Iniesta for 1 million years
Or
Play with Scholes and Giggs, and switch to Modric and Kroos.
You are still needing midfield geniuses to excel.

Even The Pope could lose his cool sometimes.
No human is a saint, including Messi.

In football, the most accurate way of measuring indiscipline and bad behavior is by the cards.

Messi has 2 red cards, Ronaldo has over 11 red cards.
Messi has about 77 yellows, Ronaldo has over 120.

Even with what we see on TV week in week out, they are miles apart in terms of self disciple and good conduct.

Messi ain't no saint, but he's nothing like Neymar and Ronaldo.

Relax dia.

P.S.

Ronaldo needs to play in a world cup final and win a golden ball.
He needs to make an impact at the great FIFA World Cup, and not some continental championship!!.

Even Ronaldo's Euro 2016 trophy did nothing to change the GOAT status.

Messi, Maradona and Pele it remains.

Great players complement each other, and greatness is not limited by systemic balance. The perfect example of your illustration here is S. Busquets who has declined since the exit of Xavi/Iniesta (you can also see that in the NT). Their absence does not take away the fact he is a great player, but they complimented him to achieve collective success in the middle of the park. They bossed game after game and brought out the best in each other.

You cant categorically say that Messi has declined since they both left(Xavi/Iniesta). On the individual front, he has been the same consistent player, but on the collective, he has achieved less especially on the big stage, which shows that it takes more than individual talent to win trophies. We saw it in the UCL for Madrid; when CR7 is having a bad game, the likes of G. Bale and co rise to the occasion. In the end, the team wins and the star player gets the individual accolade. It was the same when we still had Xaviesta, Pedro R and co.

No single player can win a game by himself; that BS was propagated by the press and fans. CR7 played with a great support cast in all the teams he has played in. His is, feed him the ball and he would score. He is a positional player that is guaranteed to deliver if every factor is available. Messi, on the other hand, is a far more technical and adaptive player. To call him a system player is to make light of his immense talent and loyalty to the club that made him. Reaching 3 back to back majjor finals is no small feat. Winning them all goes beyond just one player.

Finally, I asked an anti-Messi friend of mine who he considered the greater(est) CB between Pique/Ramos and P. Maldini. Without thhinking twice, he said Maldini. Then I reminded him, Maldini was a one-club man, won 5 UCLs and a number of domestic titles but never won a thing with the National team. The other two on the other hand won it all at both club and national level.

What has his "superb playing" won him in the Argentine NT?

You Messi fans like to pretend you don't understand English. System player does not mean he can't kick the ball. It means he needs a specific system to make exploits. That's why he can score 50 goals in a Barca shirt, but one penalty in an Argentine shirt.

It's a very simple sturv!

That's why we call him a fraud or scammer. Because anyone who watches him only in a Barca shirt would not realize that 97+% of the footballing world do not play that system. He only thrives in that system, and goes missing when he steps out of that system. That's the definition of fraud.

For the fact that your MCM hid behind team performance and won a trophy NOT THE WORLD CUP does not make him the next best thing to bursting a nut.

Records and accolades prove that Messi is still individually better than Ronaldo at National Team.

You just cannot be the best player at 3 global competitions;

1.The FIFA world cup
2.The Copa America
3.The Under 20 world cup

And still be called a system player.

The other two on the other hand won it all at both club and national level.

Since they left he has choked in 3 successive UCLs and you say he is the same consistent player. The only thing he's been consistent at, is showing he is a fraud.

And to your Maldini question, Maldini is not on the GOAT list; Messi is. You're comparing apples to oranges. The job of the defender is to stop goals from getting in; so even if they do their job; they can still go out through penalties. The job of an attacker is to score or facilitate a goal, so even if you concede, you outscore and win.

Seeing how much you guys extol Messi, anyone who didn't know better would think he could waltz into the pitch, pick the ball from the half-way line and dribble into the net in every game. The question is why hasn't he done so even once in four finals.

And Ramos is a more rounded defender than Maldini. I'd rather have Ramos in my team than Maldini.

2. He scored his penalty against Holland at WC 2014.

3. He scored his penalty against Chile at Copa 2015 and what did the rest do?

If you are going to start judging a player by a missed PK then you're hitting below the belt.

*Ronaldo missed his against Chelsea in 2008 and they saved his asss.

*If Only Ronaldo scored his penalty against Iran at World Cup 2018 Portugal could have avoided Uruguay and probably made the Quarters.

I hope you're just trolling bringing PKs into this.

Yes.

Precisely how many goals did Messi score in this COPA fresh out of a 50 goal Barcelona season?

How many goals did he score in the knockout stages of that 2014 FIFA WC you guys like to trumpet?

This is an Argentina team that Aguero and Higuain have 0.4+ average; and you're making it seem like he's playing for Ecuador. Only Brazil equals Argentina's standing in South America; so how is it surprising that their best player has a 0.5 average playing against competition they're unarguably better than.

And how does that stop him from being a system player who only has exploits in his club playing a specific system. If he has made exploits in his NT, he'd have had at least one trophy.

You guys need to stop smoking expired crack.

Messi is a system player!

Ruling out my texts doesn't add credibility to your trash you're spewing.

And don't deviate.

We were talking about the phrase "system player"

I blot out text that don't make an ounce of sense.

tesppidd:
[s]For the fact that your MCM hid behind team performance and won a trophy NOT THE WORLD CUP does not make him the next best thing to bursting a nut.

Records and accolades prove that Messi is still individually better than Ronaldo at National Team.

You just cannot be the best player at 3 global competitions;

1.The FIFA world cup
2.The Copa America
3.The Under 20 world cup

And still be called a system player.

It's criminal to hide behind unscrupulous elements on the net and make some seemingly drug-inspired comments and be forming Lord.

Who does that?

If your name is not Lord?[/s]

Like this one.

You know you're in a bend when you have nothing else concrete to say but to rehash failed arguments and start trifling about my nick. My sign off is literally five letters and a punctuation; that should be the least of your concerns.

You should be more concerned about trying to use your brain, because you've consistently failed to do so so far.
