Stranger Than Fiction..7/10
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

An intriguing, compelling & fantastic concept, irrespective of its premise been a fantasy.
Knowing Will Ferrell & the kinda movies he does, I was skeptic at first of him pulling through his character, but after seeing his act, am glad he really wowed me. A flick about life and death, love and hope, with lots of subtle messages that'll make you think & do a self evaluation of who you're, and how you've lived life so far.. A 7/10 should suffice cause i couldn't really feel the Comedy, asides that, every other element was properly & perfectly represented.
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by mekaprime: 6:23pm On Jul 08, 2019
Showtime...2/10
Genre:Animation

Ignore the above rating, it wasn't as bad as my rating implied. The target audience here, wasn't the adults, rather, it was solely for kids. Highly recommended if you have kids, they'll definitely love it & enjoy it to bits.

Equilibrium (a rewatch)

Christian Bale's dress rehearsal for Chris Nolan's TDK. Not much weight on the plot line... BUT, the Gun fu action sequences were really well done, particularly the boss fight between Preston and Dupont... was reminiscent of the first Matrix film, methinks.

7/10

To think that I've had this move for a long time without seeing it, am totally seeing it this night then.

It's not the same thing. It's not something you can just invent out of nowhere. We're talking about Quantum mechanics here for crying out loud. The best Physicists including Einstein weren't and haven't been able to get the mathematics right, heck, most of them will tell you it's impossible to tear a hole to another dimension... that's what we're talking about here. It's like wanting to build a granite castle in air, but don't know how you're gonna keep the castle floating or even how to lay a foundation. Some things don't go beyond theories and fantasies.

It has really good action scenes. Christian Bale impressed as Cleric Preston.

Finally got to watching this and I must commend you for recommending it to me and I in turn recommend it to the house. It's not a ground breaking cinematic endeavour, but it's story is expository and intriguing (there were moments I got Goosebumps), the cast did a reasonable job and I would like to see more efforts from Chiwetel because he did a good job on this one.

The sorry state of African leadership and mentality is really appalling, many of our problems have really simple solutions but so few are willing to try, and if you do attempt, the mountain of discouragements surrounding you will be so overwhelming you'll feel you have no other choice than to give up. Thank God the boy didn't, he should be an inspiration, but sadly most of us draw inspiration from the wrong materials.

9/10

You're welcome. At the bolded, you perfectly nailed it. Some scenes in that movie really gave me goosebumps. I just pray Chiwetel Ejiofors' efforts is recognised by the Oscars come next year, even if it's just a nomination, though I sincerely hope for better.

still the same. In 1970 I know it was impossible for anything like video call to even exist because the technology wasn't available, yet.

Now see it this way, in some countries they're still in yesterday or some hours behind this present time, while some are ahead of this present time. A time I and you don't exist, isn't it possible to say they're living in the past or future? If I were to board a plane and travel to their own time (living my own time behind) won't you say I've time travel?

Let's take this one at a time.

I used to make such an argument until I realized that time does not exist.

The different time zones we use are just arbitrary time barriers we humans decided to adopt.

Time is nothing but a concept of measurement just like length or volume. It does not exist.

Saw one documentary a while back on a time travel machine, called the Die Glocke. It was supposedly invented by the Germans in aftermath of their loss of the second world war in 1945, one conspiracy theorist went as far as saying that Hitler wasn't dead, that in fact he time jumped to the future with some of his generals with the aid of the machine, hmm!....a highly ridiculous & laughable theory if you ask me. Though I saw it as a fantasy & propaganda, irrespective of lots of evidence they put up to support their proposed claim. At the end of the day, it was said that the Die Glocke landed somewhere in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania , United States on December 9, 1965 and the government seized it & branded it a UFO incident.

OMG, lolz. Did you just equate time zoning to time travel?? Bro, time zoning doesn't work like that, okay? We all exist on the same time, but merely separated by difference of time zones. To simplify:

Take for instance, a match kicked off at 8PM GMT, now by your logic, time zones with -GMT would be streaming the match ahead of time zones with GMT and +GMT respectively, but fortunately, it doesn't work like that. Every time zone will receive the streams at exactly the same time (barring a delay in server/satellite relay ofc) irrespective of how far ahead or behind you are in your time zone. People in New York will start streaming it at 3PM at exactly the same time as people in Nigeria at 9PM, and so on. It's simple math.

You are not wrong. Numbers do not exist. They are just a scientific concept.

How many fingers do you have? 10.
Now, does the number ten exist or is it your fingers that exist?

time zoning/time travel, they both have to do with a particular place at a point in time. When you travel you go from one place to another, isn't it the same with zone? Like moving from one zone to another zone? Everything have to do with a place, a point in time.

As regard your reference to football match. I agree. Now if that satellite that transmit that signal doesn't exist, wouldn't you say streaming football matches is impossible? Like despite the difference in time zone, we're all able to watch the same thing at the same time, and at different time because if we check our wrist watch, our time still isn't the same.

lolz, It definitely not the same bro..The discussion is how possible it is to tear a hole to another dimension, create a wormhole/Einstein–Rosen bridge.. For now, its all Theories & fantasies. But with the level of work & mathematical computational on time travel, i believe it'll sure happen, probably a million years from now, but when it happens, it's going to pose one heck of a problem to mankind unless..unless there's nothing like a time paradox as a resultant effect to the time travel.

The problem involve is dealing with the paradox and creating a machine capable of creating a wormhole.

No. It is just a concept. Some early cultures had a number system that stopped at 6. Meaning that you have 13 fingers in base 7 (septenary)

It just can't happen.

As an atheist, I pray for time travel.

I will go back in time to beat Moses, Jesus and Muhammed into comas for starting the nonsense religions that we are suffering from today.

But come to think of it......if I deal with Moses or Jesus then Muhammad never gets to plagiarized from the bible.

Also, going back in time to kill Hitler does not help Nigerians. Going back on time to bomb slave masters like a Male Denerys Targaryean would save Africans a lot of pain.

Time travel creates crazy ideas

You're not getting it. What I'm trying to say is that the foundations for Video calls were laid long ago. Media has evolved from rudimentary moving pictures, to Radio broadcast, to Television, to cellular, to smart phone and social media, and is still evolving as we speak. Invention of computer microchip was a lot harder than the invention of video call, trust me.

Nope, like I said, it doesn't work like that. Like JeromeBlack aptly put it, time is nothing but a concept of measurement.

How do I simplify this? Okay lemme use another analogy. I have relatives in Nigeria, and when they get up at 6AM in the morning, I'm getting ready to hit the sack at 12PM here in New Jersey. This means that Nigeria and New Jersey are 6 time zones apart. On the other hand, I can pick up a phone and have a chat with them irrespective of differing time zones. We were existing in the same constant!

Its impossible to deal with a paradox. Most of these paradox doesn't even support the laws of physics which states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. So how do you propose controlling something that goes against the rudiments of physics.
For now, time travel is just a theory & fantasy. The Mars/Martian trip by SpaceX is even a more visible/viable project than developing time machines with wormholes creating capabilities.

You say it so casually as if it's the same as building a spaceship. A paradox can't be solved bro. It's a set of contradictions wrapped in an enigma, inside a conundrum.
