Martins was a beast in this game. I think that was his debut match for Nigeria.

That was the first time SA defeated Nigeria in like 14 years (or even first time ever), if I remember well.

Martins' Serie A friend, Ayodele Makinwa also played that game.
Yeah Makinwa scored via a deflection. There were too happy over that win especially as it came after the spanking we gave am at AFCON earlier.

I remember when this boy was very hot at the youth team of Lazio. In fact, there were reports that Onazi was sold bkus of him. He is a CM and DM

They almost drew against Ethiopia if not Moses brilliance that drew 2 pk calls by the ref in the die minutes of the game
Barryseal:

The 2013 team didn't loose any of their group games. They drew against Zambia (defending champions), Burkina Faso ( eventual finalists) and defeated Ethiopia. Infact, they should have beaten Zambia if not for the penalty manufactured by the ref.
I admit, it wasn't all smooth sailing but it wasn't a struggle to qualify like you make it out to be.

Just read they wanna do a Kayode on him. Sign him for Bari in disguise of Napoli. Same person owns the two clubs. I hope he turns them down for Leeds who truly wants him

We actually dominated the game against Ethiopia. It was academic the Ethiopians would not hold out the on slaught for 90mins.

Keshi had a better team than Rohr n more experienced one at that. Yobo was a veteran who held his on in fenebahche and Norwich during the tail end of his career. Had an efe ambrose who was a mainstay in the defense line of Scottish biggest club Celtic and also a steady performer in the ucl

In the middle we had a seasoned professional in mikel, a young and constant regular in the serie A in onazi, Nosa was doing very well in Isreal and gaining alot of interest before he left for betis also had haruna and chibuike who were standout performers in their respective clubs dynamo Kiev and Rosenberg but ignored them.

In attack had an emenike who was in his prime and scoring consistently in the ucl and Russian league in the colors of Spartak Moscow, an ideye who partnered legendary Shevchenko in attack in dynamo kieve and finished with double figures in two season prior to the 2013 afcon and an Ike Uche who was prolific in the colors of villareal

Had an echeijile who was playing consistently in one of Portugal biggest clubs Braga, also had taiwo who was a mainstay in the colors of dynamo kiev in his disposal but snubbed him.

Had an inform Sone Aluko who was a dynamite in the Scottish league in the colors of Glasgow rangers but was ignored for the afcon in preference of uzoenyi, had a victor Moses who just signed for Chelsea and did pretty well in his first season. Musa was a consistent performer in the colors of Russian giants cska Moscow.

Had a Vincent enyeama who was unarguably the best goalkeeper in Africa and one of the best in the world then were he was a jewel in the colors of lille.

Keshi did not have a better team. You're just hyping these boys

alot of pple dont know the politics behind the scene in our football. till date i will take the only positives from buhari emerging as the president of this country was keshi's sack.

Keshi was a mafia and had strong backup politically right from the presidency to the army. keshi almost turned the super eagles to his private venture and all this started after the afcon triumph. pinnick was the guy who only had the guts to sack keshi when he came in as the nff supremo and made the attempt immediately but was seriously warned by the presidency and other top political stalwarts. keshi knew his game was over when jonathan lost and buhari came, if you guys were observant it didn't take up to a month after buhari's swearing in that pinnick sacked keshi

exactly you're really knowledgeable.
pinnick hands were tired..... then I even wanted Jonathan to loose the presidency because of Keshi....

He almost ruined our football

Our first test in this AFCON was against Guinea Conakry complete with Keita....our toughest test was against DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Cameroon... SE are battle tested...though a young team but vastly EXPERIENCED IN THE AFRICAN TERRAIN....

More importantly, Rohr is king of African football....he knows how to beat African opposition when it matters most...
I am more confident winning tomorrow because South Africa is not European or Latin American opponent...

Savvy?

Even if Rohr fails to win the afcon he had laid a foundation that will last for a long time and made the team a force to reckon on atleast in African football once again.

If keshi won 4 afcon to me he was the worst mistake that happened to our football

Lol what foundation plz grin

That worst mistake is still the reason u can beat ur chest before a Ghanaian today. grin

The bulk of Rohr's team were there before Rohr took the reigns. I cant quite find any foundation. By the way, whats Rohr's football philosophy?

Naby Keita wasn't fully fit. Ndidi has been immense but tomorrow will still be a tough game.

The world cup qualifying group of death was not the first time we found ourselves in such group. Keshi had achieved more with way less talented group of players than Rohr. Rohr has not won anything yet. And ,yes he is tactically deficient. Rohr has been Super Eagles for over 3yrs yet we unable to play three good passes....its not impatient...its FED UP! There is no reason why we should not be playing beautiful football!

And, no! The problem with Nigeria is not impatience it's people like you who are dormant and comfortable with anything you are given. Rohr has not done anything spectacular....just few flashes here and there.

kai, stop this fib about three good passes fa

Got you and you, your own kind is blind to that accomplishment? Not saying he was perfect or didn't have his issues. However to you, he is the worst coach ever and nothing good came from him. That's how you are painting him.
Please ado Togo's world cup qualification and WC 2nd round by an African coach to one of the feats that caused blindness to my kind who have elected to talk about Keshis successes while admitting his failures.

How u see our game tomorrow now that we have a full house? Do u think Collins should start at left back, while Aina takes his rightful place for Awaziem to sit it out?

In our CM , dont u think Balo would make a better pair to Omeruo. We need CBs that are comfortable with the ball at the feet. I hate wrong hurried passes and clearances without purposes.

Then, in the midfield, I will like Mikel to either form a double pivot with Ndidi, or sit it out, bkus I dont wanna ever see him playing as an AM

Etebo was actually the guy that forced the Cameroonian defender to misplace that pass to Musa. Musa got the ball to Ighalo.

It is better he sits out because he is just recovering

I prefer Etebo. By far, one of the most consistent players in this tournament

Not true, we are a great footballing nation and we deserve better results, that is the grouse folks have with rohr, In 2014 world cup we had an indigenous coach who qualified us and took us to the second round. We said he was not sound technically. We now carry oyinbo coach in 2018 and we were knocked out in first round, we are now trying to twist words that he is technically sound, are we truly improving?
2014 WC, no enterprising football, minnows in the group, 3 goals only -no complaint

Keita was at 50% fitness and was not at his best

Guinea as a team were quite crappy at this AFCON

Our first real test was against Madagascar and we failed but we can take learning points from it

And I applaud our performance against Cameroon. We tried but I won't advice going behind again before playing well. It may not work against SA
