I read something on YouTube recently and I became confuse. Myles Munroe said God doesn't tell you who to marry. I have always held on to the believe that God must show who to marry as a Christian. So, my question is, does God tell us who to marry?

God seldom tell us who to marry!

But God has given us laid down rules for finding the right person.

Whoever you find, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and God will direct your steps.

How do you mean lean not on your understanding. I have this girl. We have this bond between us, but she is a Muslim and this has been my problem with her.

Rule number 1: Be not unequally yoked with an unbeliever.

Even if you pray for 1000 hours, God will not give you permission.

Lean not upon your own understanding works when you have done ALL you are required to do as a Christian BUT you ask God for His final word.

The Rules:
1. Is He/She Born Again?
2. Does He/She Love God?
3. Does he/She exhibit the fruit of the Holy Spirit?
4. Is he/she matured biologically, educationally, Spiritually and Financially?
5. Is His/Her family accommodating and understanding?
Finally
6. Revive Gods validation by asking Him sincerely in prayer

Your friend may be a nice girl. But she has failed at least the first most important 3 rules

that is where the problem is. I have prayed about it, and God keep referring to her

I don't think God will ever contradict His will for His children. It could be that you are already biased because she has become the Apple of Your Eyes.

Has God told you how He wants to use her?
Has God ever told you to preach the Love of God to her?
If Rapture or Death occurs do you know where she would spend her eternity?

God is more interested in her eternal life than her marriage or financial success.

Do you know that
1. She believes that Jesus was not crucified on the cross and neither did he rise up from the dead
2. She believes that your bible is corrupt and is no more the word of God
3. That you have commited the greatest sin on earth by worshiping two other personalities with God (Mary and Jesus as partners with God)
4. Your heaven is even Different. In heaven, Jesus says no marriage or giving in marriage. In Islam, there is plenty of wives for the believing man (many perpetual virgins plus wives from Muslim women)

AND
Your children will choose either to be Muslims or Christians so that you will have representatives in both heaven and hell?

You are being compromised with her outward appearance. She obviously knows more truth than you, that's why even though she likes you, she knows it is impossible!

No!
God seldom tell us who to marry.
How many examples like that do you see in the scriptures?

Your partner cannot help you make heaven, rather you are susceptible to falling out of faith
And yes We should not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever

Samson married where God said he should not and that caused him his life. Your partner can actually help you make heaven if you marry a faithful Christian that truely understands and practice Gods word he/ she will always encourage you to do Gods will no matter what but an unbeliever will advice you against it if it doesn't suit him/her

My sister, I beg in in the name of Christ. It is impossible to convert another human being to love God and serve Him. You don't have the power to change anyone.

To change yourself is even difficult. Can you remember how many times you mage some genuinely good new year resolutions? How many weeks did it take you to fail? Now, you've even stopped making new year resolutions on yourself how much more on another person.

Iron sharpens Iron, that's what the Bible says. Two believers would build each other up when they marry. A believer and an unbeliever is unequally yoked... recipe for sorrow and pain

My dear, you will only be legalistic going by the rules you mentioned above.. God moves in mysterious ways, you know.. Dafemich who is talking about marrying a Muslim girl and have even prayed about it may be right.. You wouldn't know what God want to use her for and the works He want to perform through her..

Going by your rules, there are cases when a woman/man who is born again, love God, abide by the fruit of the Spirit etc as you mentioned backslides and becomes a thorn in the flesh for the partner..

It's always wise to seek God's guidance and His will in choosing whim to marry.. And if you already have someone in mind, you could as well as if He approves..

Thank you

I can almost certainly bet that you are not married. However, even when a person fulfills all the five rule of thumb that I itemized, the most important is number 6. For in marriage, there is no guarantee as God doesn't force anyone against his/her will.

God will never ask you to marry of the Cananites or the Hivites. Anyone who claims to hear that is being led by the flesh.

Of course a marriage without God consent isn't necessarily doomed to failure but a child of God will secure his future and the future of his unborn generation.

Do you think it is fair for a Christian husband to ban his children from following their mother to the Mosque?
Children who are born in the church are hardly saved not to speak of those with a confused spiritual identity.

Yes, God does tell, who to marry. For example, God, in fact, tells the sort of woman good to marry gan sef.

Thank you for your response.. What I said earlier was in respect to Hosea's case when God told him to marry a harlot.. There was a reason for that.. I won't rule out the fact that God can lead us to whom we should marry

@Dafemich

Yes

God helps you make the choice easier because he alone knows the heart of people

Also he will lead you to someone that will "help you with your spiritual purpose in life
Its not by force to marry the person he chooses for you but its the best decision for you

That doesn't mean you won't put in the work when you both marry like is expected in all marriages o . However you'll experience peace of mind and happiness .

There's no way God will lead you to someone with bad character. Thats why God can tell you to wait for some years before revealing your intentions or dating a person he showed you is your spouse.

For your case op, you have to be really sure she is the one God is leading you to and its not your feelings for her talking

Her religion doesn't matter for now

I know two people whom God revealed their spouses to them and they were Muslims

The first one a lady had to wait two years . Certain circumstances made the guy become born again

The man ( a pastor ) had to wait for five years
They both waited prayerfully.

Within that period of wait, God was dealing with many things that would have stood as an hindrance had they rushed into the marriage earlier

You have to make sure she is the one God wants to be by your side when you are fulfilling your purpose.

Take a few days off in solitude to get clearer instruction on what to do

Also you should have two or three spiritual mentors that you can ask to seek God on your behalf.

If what they reveal tallies with all well and God

Yes, I know you were referring to that but that isn't the general rule. For Hosea, the purpose was NOT for Hosea to just marry a wife but to marry a wife who WOULD NOT BE Faithful to Him (typical of how Israel was not faithful to God).

Just like Ezekiel was asked by God to eat cooking with Human excreta. Ezk4:9-12. Can we use the scripture as a basis that God can ask us to cook with human waste?

Hosea's marriage can be described as nothing but terrible. Gomer leaves Hosea for another lover and enters into an adulterous relationship and much later, Hosea had to pay a hefty price in buying her back from slavery.

If you want a marriage that is different from that of Hosea, you need to follow the wisdom of God's words.

All you need to do is first identify the one and only true Christians organization, then you can choose ANYONE: tall, short, dark, fair, skinny or plus-sized.
Just make sure you choose from their midst! 1Corinthians 7:39

By loving the person he want you to marry.

As a Christian anything Good and Godly is the will of God, same goes for marriage, find a person who is Good and Godly, then LOVE the person.

But if there is any reason why you need to stay away from such relationships, then God will reveal to you,
