Live on George Iwilade (Afrika). It's disdainfully sad that the people who are enjoying peace today don't know the blood sacrifice that was used to pay for it. July 10 is not one of those days to forget easily neither is it one we'll like to remember but for the continuous reign of peace, we often need to be reminded the price that was paid for it. Current OAU students who can walk around the school at anytime of the day/night without harassment from cultists don't even know what price was paid. I sometime ago spoke with some students about the July 10th massacre but most of them are either ignorant about it, feigned ignorance or showed little or no concern. I can't remember a more touching story that has helped form peace in Nigerian institutions. This freedom isn't enjoyed in most of the Nigerian institutions and there's been no Messiah (Afrika) to stand up for the students. The true definition of heroism is when one stands up to fight a good cause. George was a secretary general of the SUG and he indeed represented the people unlike what we have in various institutions today. It is a fervent prayer that one day the perpetrators of this hideous crime will be brought to justice. 85 Likes 12 Shares

When we sing and say "our heroes past..., we are definitely referring to people like George Akinyemi Iwilade a.k.a Afrika who stood in the face of adversity to repel oppression and resist cultism and hooliganism on campus. It is also important to note that 1. 4 others were killed. 2. Sadly, justice is yet to be given. #AfrikaLivesOn 137 Likes 9 Shares |

I read the history on wiki sometime ago and was touched. To all those dead cultist rolling in their grave and to the animated(living dead) ones. I hope someday your kind will be rubbed off from the face of our society, but before then Peace will not know you until you repent. An excerpt from Wikipedia.

Stormyweather: I still remember this story like I was there! My brother was there... he was playing scrabble game with one of the murdered student Eviano an Isoko boy. He Eviano played some “heavy” grammar which my bro screamed “Lai lai I dey go collect Chambers from them Austin room...” My bro passed some of the guys on his way and by sheer coincidence he was actually running to go grab the dictionary before they fired a shot into their room. Eviano died. Geez! Bro never went back to Ife after that... he was shattered after that experience. I was barely 9! 140 Likes 5 Shares |

This massacre shows how cultism has become a cancer in Nigerian Tertiary Education. Soyinka started it for a good reason then some evil seeds decided to do theirs based on occultism, supremacy and wickedness. Imagine organisations having a rules of murdering, engaging robberies, saying forgiveness is sin, indulging in rape, etc. How good can that be for the society. RIP Afrika, your balls are made of steel indeed. For every right minded Nigerian, please say No to Cultism. Let your younger ones read this thread below.
