The aviator 9/10

I recall the first time I watched this movie I was enthralled and found the lead character alluring, and now on this later viewing the experience has become even more effervescent. A story about a man battling with his demons, eccentric and charming, touching and soulful, Scorsese and Di Capirio did excellent on this one.

Some complained that it is childish... I wonder if they expect teens and preteens to be spouting Freudian philosophy. This is basically a super hero movie from the perspective of young teens. It's all in order.

I too am looking forward to the sequel.

My fav scene is the part where Shazam and Freddie pop open cans of beer, take big mouthsful and instantly spit it out. Shazam now says "THAT really tasted like ass".

I brayed laughter all over the place cheesy Being an adult is no joke grin

MOVIE FUN FACT
Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot was a part of re-shoots for the movie (including stunts) while being five months pregnant. Her baby bump was visible, so the crew created a costume which had a green screen around her belly, which was later removed during post-production.

John Q ....7.5/10
Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller

A flick that spurred controversy about the health care reform in the United States. Storyline was simple yet compelling & touchy, acting was amazing, especially the lead, Denzel Washington's act is what I'll call magnificent. His performance held me spellbound from start to finish, he really made me feel a great deal of empathy for his character, in fact, at a point i was John Q & i literally had teary eyes almost all through the movie.
A thought-provoking movie with an intent to make one think and learn about the forgotten aspects of human life.

Everyone has been complaining that DC movies are too dark and that that is why they keep trailing behind THE MCU. Too much Zack Snyder. This is a return to the cherry happy DC movies. The deviation from the source material was strong though. In the original shazam comics (thanks mum) sirvana was Billy batsons uncle who took him in for the insurance money when Billy's folks died.

The antagonist was black Adam. A previous captain marvel gone bad

Also lest we forget, kids and teens are the original comic book market.

I wonder how the movie would have turned out if they had stuck to the original story...

Yeah, about the comics market, I read Ikebe Super comics while growing up. Nothing legendary there, except for Nackson's legendary roving deek.

PAKOOOOO!

We are taking dc and marvel comics you are taking Ikebe super

How did you even get away with it as a kid?

We had this uncle. He got an Ikebe super. I found it funny and took it to my dad to show him. My dad immediately gave the uncle a very very stern talking to.

Nackson was actually lolly. And it was an adult comic. It sometimes featured actual rape by Dauda.

My understanding is that the rock was supposed to be black Adam. We may see that in the future.

MOVIE FUN FACT
The Terminator

Arnold Schwarzenegger worked with guns every day for a month to prepare for the role. The first two weeks of filming he practiced weapons stripping and reassembly blindfolded until the motions were automatic, like a machine. He spent hours at the shooting range and practicing with different weapons without blinking or looking at them when reloading or cocking.

As for me for ....I'm not pumped up about John wick right from part 1...
I think you have made a fair confession. John Wick does not appeal to you. The same applies to the other fellow. What tickles our fancy is different for each person. It is the reason people need to be aware that you cannot trust the rating of others in all occasions on movies because they may be viewing the movie from a flawed lens of disinterest on the plot, genre or characters involved in the movie.

All hail John Wick!!!

i see your fun fact, and i raise you 'sheet movie'

https://www.wikiwand.com/en/The_Terminator

Cameron agreed to meet with Schwarzenegger about the film and devised a plan to avoid casting him; he would pick a fight with him and return to Hemdale and find him unfit for the role.[27] Upon meeting him, however, Cameron was entertained by Schwarzenegger who would talk about how the villain should be played. Cameron began sketching his face on a notepad and asked Schwarzenegger to stop talking and remain still.[26] After the meeting, Cameron returned to Daly saying Schwarzenegger would not play Reese but that "he'd make a hell of a Terminator".[28] Schwarzenegger was not as excited by the film; during an interview on the set of Conan the Destroyer, an interviewer asked him about a pair of shoes he had, which belonged to the wardrobe for The Terminator. Schwarzenegger responded, "Oh some shit movie I'm doing, take a couple weeks."[29] He recounted in his memoir, Total Recall, that he was initially hesitant, but thought that playing a robot in a contemporary film would be a challenging change of pace from Conan the Barbarian and that the film was low profile enough that it would not damage his career if it were unsuccessful. He also wrote that "it took [him] a while to figure out that Jim [Cameron] was the real deal." In preparation for the role, Schwarzenegger spent three months training with weapons to be able to use them and feel comfortable around them.[28] Schwarzenegger speaks only 18 lines in the film, and fewer than 100 words. James Cameron said that "Somehow, even his accent worked ... It had a strange synthesized quality, like they hadn't gotten the voice thing quite worked out."[30]

there's a lesson about opportunity in this story

This is why you will never find even the best Nollywood stars near Hollywood, its all about growing into the character, not just acting the character.
Check out the sickening weight loss Christian Bale in becoming the character in The Machinist, only to double up for The Dark Knight.

The Terminator - Unforgettable.
