grin grin The hustle is very real fa..... lol well I kinda have a thing for people finding their daily bread as long as no laws are broken its all good men.

If you have ever been in a place of hunger you will never ever, look down on anybodys hustle, as long as it is legal and they are not stealing or doing olosho.

They will not only have my respect but support.

I do not expect everybody to see things from my perspective so its alright if you dis-agree.

It is just a social media platform and regardless that I come here to read and learn, I would put the need for others to earn a living before that luxury.

Umm, this is awful. Pollution to my eyes. If you look at the threadstarter all the threads on that list are from one person. I see other people with advertising threads as well but many of these threads are being posted by this person.

Who is the mod here?

Yes, laws are being broken b|c this is not the advertising section. We're not saying they shouldn't find their daily bread, but that this is not the section for advertising |selling stuff. 8+ threads of advertisement by one person repeatedly is too much.

Ogbeni leave matter. It is this kind of reasoning that has turned Nigeria into the shithole it is today. When people refuse to do the right things, obey rules and regulations and follow laid down procedures, we have an environment conducive for the establishment, growth and nuturing of chaos, disorderliness and total fuckery.

Nairaland rules 1, 6 and 18 states categorically that users should create and post topics in the right section and not fracking spam the forum. All these adverts have made this section a hot mess that puts people off from visiting. The OPs complaints is akin to the suffering Lagosians suffered for years before Fashola took the bull by the horns and cleared Yaba, Oshodi, Tejuosho, Ojuelegba etc and restored a semblance of sanity to these areas. Prior to this these areas were congested, jam-packed, filthy, disorganised and every other negative adjectives you can think of. UNILAG is my alma mater and I always HATED passing through Yaba because of how rowdy that place was. Thank God for Baba Fash who didn't allow sentiments to stop him from doing the right thing, vis clearing off street trading and indiscriminate parking that made these areas hell on earth for Lagosians.

The first world nations we admire so much and are sleeping in their embassies here to hustle their visas (including the Canada you currently reside in) were not built on sentiments. Discipline, courage, accountability and obedience to rules were part of what got them to the positions they occupy in the global scheme of things. Nairaland is a microcosm of Nigeria where users are disregarding rules, posting their ads anyhow and anywhere, spamming the forum and typically being the undisciplined Nigerians they are. Try this _shit in Reddit and see if your account is not permanently banned.

There are sections dedicated for advertorials but no, they must come to this section and dot the cyber landscape with their scams and spams.

Anyway, the blame lies solely on the admin and moderator. RoyalRoy sometimes disappears for weeks on end leaving this section at the mercy of traders, porn_ vendors, trolls, spammers, copy and paste bloggers and other members of the Allied Nuisance.

Justwise transformed Travel section to the most organised section on Nairaland, and if this forum had one mod like him in every section, Nairaland will be a more entertaining and educating site to visit.

Long story short, shove the sentiments aside and stop supporting rubbish.

Your mouth ehn!!!

You have made an objective observation, then have the mod contact the person and let them know they are overdoing it.
I do not have a problem with a few business threads here and there.

If it's just one person spamming thats a different issue.

the hustlers [as you call them] are just uncouth nuisances
i see them on whatsapp groups as well. sending 40 pictures at a go of some useless item no one is interested in buying. I ALWAYS call them out, at which point they start pretending they do not know it is rude, while telling me i can contact them to buy.

i ask them what would happen in the group, if everyone decided to be like them, flooding peoples phones with unsolicited messages

it is the same thing you see on regular nairaland threads where betnja agents and adult website admins spam every FP topic with messages

i live in festac, and i see the same behavior play out in the real world. every single corner is turned to a parking lot for used cars, or a flea market/bazaar. the entire place is an eyesore.

A person who is unprofessional in the way he markets his wares, will also be an unprofessional business person. the moment your hustle makes you a public nuisance, there is a problem.

the end result of this nonsense is that people will leave this forum, and the hustler will , like a virus, have to find some other avenue to spread to, pollute and destroy.

These examples you give are quite funny.
It is the responsibility of the government to provide an enabling environment for people to do business.

In a society where everyone is their own local government, you generate your own light, water, even road and fence(security) what do you expect.

I am yet to see a business owner on this thread supporting your idea , I am sure because you are a salary earner it looks to you like everything is okay.

The Nigerian mode of living is the survival mode, the same mode of living animals in the jungle survive by, the average man on the street is not hustling to buy a car or build a house, they are hustling to feed not even themselves but their children.

If these people find a way to make some money and not carry guns please try and respect their choice and how dugged they have become in earning an income in a legal way.

The Nigerian environment operates like a jungle so dont expect the average person to pretend it is heaven , it is not.

It's just an intellectual discourse, people cannot always see t hings from the same angle.

By exchanging views with people particularly t hose who have a different opinion than you, you get to expand your horizon.

It's one of the few ways to become a little more emancipated.

No need to bicker about this.

i wonder if you will share this same sentiment if they start doing clearing and forwarding right in front of your mansion tongue tongue
it is this very attitude that makes nigeria so diificult

in my old close, some one started dealing cars in the close, next thing we had an influx of vehicle vandalisation.
in the same vein, in a domestic neighbpourhood, some hustler started a welding business. this led to further overloading of an already overloaded community switch board, fluctuating voltages, and damage to appliances of different people in the neighbour hood.

but hey, as long as you're making an honest buck in a hard country, it doesn't matter if your inconveniencing anyone right, because the needs of you supersede the needs of the many

or when someone [another honest working hustler] tried to bring a hotel into the close. fortunately everyone kicked against it. there are domestic locales where people did not put up a fight, and i feel for them. party and loud music till 1 am, people turning everywhere to public toilet. randy people fking in cars in the open. wonderful place to bring up kids in. i remember one neighbor with daughter already showing signs of waywardness freaking out completely over the idea of a hotel [what is hotel in naija other than short time joint] but it doesn't matter, because the only important thing is making money. it does not matter how much you inconvenience other as long as you are making your money. that is all that matters

six or seven years ago, a trailer rear ended me in traffic. demolished the back of my car. the standard is to sieze teh car until you are paid, but there was no way i could start parking a trailer in the close [ i have respect for other people].So i opted for taking the original papers of the car. that was how i followed the owner of the truck into the slums of ebute metta. when we got to his flat, it was a mess. his kids were just coming in from school, and i was looking like some fat tax collector. i took one look at the whole mess and took the measly 15k that he said was all he had [ of course you hustlers may begin laughing over how i fell for the format]. the question i came back with was - why is this fool, who does not have two nickels to rub together in this business. the truck was a dead vehicle. this is how nigerians are killed everyday, by hustlers who do not have the resources to do the business they are doing.

the people who almost burnt down otedola bridge - the same sort of 'hustlers'. the country is hard, i have to make a living, and it does not matter if i inconvenience or endanger everyone else while doing it. the most important thing is that my belly is full.

the floods in lagos - largely caused by styrofaom food wrappers sold by road side hawkers. we have to respect their hustle tough. the fcat that their actions and indiscriminate littering will lead to floods that will destroy vehicles and houses and property does not matter. all that matters is that there is food in their stomachs. the whinings of none to fivers do not matter.

even those hated herdsmen - most of them are also just extremely poor people struggling to make a living, not so? allow them to block the road with their cows. they are sha making an honest living.

it is the same thing with most of these spammers. more greed than common sense. banking on the ignorance of the suckers who do click on their ads.

nine times out of ten, when i try to contact any business person i find on nairaland, i get a very bad taste in the mouth.

we can all remember inspired motors
the other day, i contacted one of these biodigester toilet people who i found on this forum. we wanted to build one on one of our sites. in the interview, the guy could not coherently explain anything about how the biodigester would be constructed. all he could say was we have been doing it. even the pictures he posted - the exact same pictures were on someone else's site. we backed out then, because it was clea the guy was just a hustler.

i wanted to buy a 65inch tv a few years back. thats how i contacted some fellow on nl. if i recal he was claiming 600k for a used hisense 65 inch tv. i knew right then the guy was just a useless hustler. fouani is selling those tvs today at 295,000 brand new.

i have no appreciation for 'hustlers', especially in nigeria. they are the ones seeling fake drugs, substandard goods etal. they are the ones responsible for multiple domestic accidents and early deaths.
