I would have taken Musa off instead. But the truth is that I don't think any changes would have changed the result.
sontoly:

Chukwueze shouldn't have been taken out, Onyekuru position is left wing not the right moreover musa did absolutely nothing, Ighalo should av been subbed off too, may be we were hoping to play penalty.

you can't really blame him, extra time was looming who would he bring in? Mikel? he needed to be careful not to upset the balance of the team at such a crucial time

Who should be blamed for bringing players that can't be used in a match?

A good coach will bring in a player and still maintain the balance but Rohr refused to test other players prior to this tournament.

He should be SACKED.

These Algerians really studied our tape. They've successfully clipped us. We should just hope for mother luck to shine on us!

I don't know if they did....but this isn't even their toughest game....aside from Mandi's handball...we were controlled with ease....they didn't have to do much....no antics no nothing

Our 2 man midfield was well probed today.....if south Africa had done this properly they would have likely won the match

Its high time our ex players step up to take charge of our national team and nff should allow them. Am never sold on this foreign coaches and how long can nff continue to pay rohr 45k usd monthly.

Let us be realistic, we need to be patient with local coaches to build and rebuild all our national teams.

All this overnight success we keep looking for with foreign coaches is not working and not sustainable

Unbelievable

Our players were crap....this is an Algerian team who played a day after Nigeria, went to war with ivory coast and played extra time....and our midfield was fatigued?

They were so heavy...Algeria won most of the second balls....passing was poor and ighalo was blunt

We were terrible....and deserved to be beaten....congrats to Algeria

Otedola and dangote should invest in grassroot football...not to promise 75,000 for each goal

Did Algeria play with three mildfielders throughout the tournament without substituting any of them?

Who else would he have changed?
They were over running the midfield in the last 8 minutes a good coach will make a substitution to slow down the pace of the game.
I would remove Musa and put Shehu into the midfield push Etebo forward to close the Algerians down.
Kalu for Iwobi!
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 10:21pm On Jul 14, 2019
You will take Etebo and Ndidi out, and when they keep running over our midfield, you would blame Rohr. Maybe we should have brought in an extra defender to reduce the pressure on the midfield. Switch to 3-5-2 (5-3-2). It's not like we were the better team from the blast of the whistle.
BascoVanVeli:

That ball was too close to the box no way Mahrez scores over the wall.

Mikel of course. Even Ogu would have been an upgrade our boys (Etebo &Ndidi) were tired. Look at the foul Ndidi gave away it was completely unnecessary

Out of 24 teams, 2 teams reached the final

So the other 22 teams should sack their coaches?

The other 22 teams didn't have coaches who had stayed for over three years nor the players we have, in respect to the African continent I think we have a standard squad good enough as any.

By the way some teams have already sacked their coaches

Today was a masterclass from Etebo

This Etebo is much improved on the ball than the world cup Etebo

I have suggested this times without number on this thread bro

It won't be a bad Idea if they each acquired clubs in the NPFL

But the way the league is run discourages Private investors, thus these billionaires shy away from investing.

Thus, league management must be removed from the government completely. If private investors take charge, others would follow and our leagues would be quality.

Also, the premier league teams should be mandated to have academies. New and truly young talents are bred in such academies and no academy, no club registration

We have Onyekuru and Oshimen on the bench plus Kali, I don't think the Algerian bench has anyone close to that except maybe Brahimi.

In defence we have Aina and Balogun on the bench, I am sure Aina would start for Algeria easily. We have a better squad, not better individual players and that's what matters in tournaments

Who made the senseless foul that led to the goal? Mikel would have settled the game coming in as a shield for the defense.

People that were saying even if we should win the cup that Rohr should be sacked. We need to limit our expectaions truly. Our players are average and we have a conservative manager. Algeria were better in all departments and had more shots on target.

Tough luck to the team yes disappointed in the loss but we gave our all I can live with that. I'm not a fan of the goalkeeper but let's not blame him the free kick was well struck taken from an absolutely dangerous Spot. The algerians came with a good game plan and their quality players executed their plan well sometimes you just have to hold your hand up and say you lost to a better team.

Only criticism I will say is we still lack game management.

Should the coach go I think so I think he has taken us as far as we can go under him and I commend him for his effort but the nff should know it's not just about getting the right coach but ensuring they implement a system for bringing out top talents for our national teams.

Kudos to the boys for some good memories from this tournament the future is bright super Eagles forever

If I am to say my mind, with what I've seen from this Algerian team throughout this tourney, there is very little chance we are getting past them. It's the end of the road lads, it's time to go home.

P.S:
I am not trolling or hating, I love this team and I think they have already done thier best to get to this stage. We can only get better from here.

I hate to say this but......
