EPL: Pep Guardiola Includes Nigerian Goalkeeper In Man City Squad
Gavin Bazunu/Manchester Evening News
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has called up a goalkeeper of Nigerian descent, Gavin Bazunu, for the Citizens’ 2019 Asia pre-season tour this week.

Bazunu is in line to make his first-team debut for the Premier League champions when Man City face West Ham United in their first pre-season game on Wednesday, according to Allnigeriasoccer.

Man City will also play either Wolves or Newcastle United in the Premier League Asia Trophy play-off game on Saturday.

Bazunu joined Man City in the January transfer window this year from Shamrock Rovers.

The young goalkeeper made his debut for City Under18s in an Under18 Premier League clash against Stoke City in February this year.

Other goalkeepers included in the squad are experienced shot-stopper, Claudio Bravo and second choice goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw.

Our scouts shouldn't say they missed this guy

I cn promise you he will start the 3rd place game so as to win Golden boot.

I will be most happy if he wins the golden boot. This is a player who still gets little credit. We have forgotten he is a major reason we got this far with his brace against Cameroon.

Honestly IMO Ndidi is not better than Onazi at the DMF position. At least at international level. He can barely win the ball back at times. Onazi would have bossed that midfield.

Be rest assured that many unknown players will find their way into the National team with Amunike and co as the coach.

I am equally not in support of Amuneke as the Head coach of Super Eagles. Not with the current scandal involving his AFCON outing with Tanzania's Senior team. Neither am I in support of our local coaches getting the Job. They would be owed salaries and would resort to unscrupulous means to get money.

I even have mixed feelings on using a local coach as a technical assistant. Look at Alloy Agu and the GK dept. We don't want another Mohammed Gambo, Azubuike Egwueke or Flavor in the team. Hence my mixed feelings. The only person I would allow near the team is Finidi George who currently coaches Mallorca u-18 team and had initially offered to coach one of our youth teams for free.

I would actually prefer a foreign technical assistant with a proven track record. None comes of the top of my head for now but I would do my research and post names here.

Which Onazi are you refering to?

2013 Onazi; maybe but not the current Onazi.

Ndidi tried but lack of creativity in the entire team killed us. It will be unfair to single him out

If Rohr doesn't play Osimhen ehn!!!

Be ready to use that cutlass because I doubt he will. cheesy

Even if Osimhen plays, he will be limited to just 20mins or less.

Rohr is a good man-manager and he knows Ighalo is on the verge of winning the Golden boot. Even Ighalo may want to destabilize the peace once he is dropped from the first team

Lack of coaching philosophy though we lacked quality in the mildfield.

Player selection was at the root of our MF troubles in the AFCON

How can you invite just 4 MFs with a regressing Mikel as the only playmaker among them. Rohr takes the wrong kind of risks. Yet you invited as many as 7 (or is it 8 attackers) and started just 4 for almost the entire duration of the tourney.

Now, the creative force got injured and we had to rely on long balls to our wingers to create chances. Cut that long ball supply and Baba Rohr ran out of Ideas.

I don't expect Rohr to make the same mistakes with player selection again for our next challenge (qualifiers). If not, we get same results. An old man ought to be wiser

On Rohr,I support you. Sacking the man might be fatal. It has been long since we have a team as organized as this. Instead of sacking him and rebuilding against., why not complement his shortcomings

Gbam.

People comparing him to erstwhile local coaches should remember that this is a 24 team tournament and not a 16 team tournament. So, 8 more teams were added. In summary, more challenging

Was lack of creativity responsible for that ridiculous foul he conceded? That was lack of experience.

The same Onazi that I saw winning tackle after tackle in Uyo against Algeria. Well we don't know how he will come back from his latest injury so I am not trying to get him back into the team.

I am not singling out Ndidi but he misses too many tackles. Ball that are there to be won are missed

I don't know where I stand on the coaching situation yet but I think it is a conversation worth having at this point. Rohr is not a spring chicken anymore and we naturally should be searching for a replacement although I don't think it should be rash.

I still wonder who does the selection in the national team.

We need to reinforce the mildfield with fresh players. The likes of Eberechi Eze, Tega Onomah, Ovie, Semi Ajayi (if he moves away from league one), Joe Aribo (if his team gets to play in Europa League and he performs), Ramon Azeez (if he gets to play in the la Liga this season), Abdul Ajagun (if he gets to play in the Belgium Pro League or a better league this season), Azubike Okechukwu (if he gets to play), Nnamdi Ofoborh (if he gets game time in EPL), Dele Bashiru (if he gets to play in a decent league), Aniekeme Okon (he should be given the chance), Kingsley Michael etc.

We should draft in more players in the attack to make it competitive.

Lookman Ademola, Issac Success and Noah Bazee should slog it out for the wings position.

We should watch out for Sheyi Ojo (fc Rangers) and Bobby Adekanye (Lazio). They can be a good addition for the RW position alongside with Noah Bazee and Isaac Success. Chukwueze should be given the competition to bring out the best in him.

Lookman Ademola can slog it out with Simon Moses and Henry Onyekuru on the LW. Enough of makeshift players.

Ahmed Musa should be moved to SS or S position.

In the striker position, Olanrewaju Kayode, Taiwo Awoniyi and Sunday Odey should be given the chance to prove themselves. They should slog it out with Osimhen and Ighalo.

We can watch out Josh Maja and David Okereke.

Onuachu!?

In the defence, we need to bring back Idowu to slog it out with Collins on the LB.

Ebuehi and Aina should slog it out for the RB position. Then, Tomori should be chased after to represent us. Uduokhia should be added into the team.

The goalkeeper department is one the problems we have. The goalkeeper trainer should be sacked and replaced with a more competent one. Then, we are good to go.

Isaac Success is a No, No for me. Not playing regularly (not even on loan in a championship club) and not disciplined.

Bryan Idowu is not different from what we have now. I am not keen on having him back unless he improves drastically.

Taiwo Awoniyi needs to play for the U-23 team to show what he can do for the SE.

Olanrewaju Kayode: I don't want to argue this one with you because I am not theGoodJoe an lengthy arguments are draining for me.

The only players (to add) for me include:

Fikayo and Uduokhai for CB. The current ones are very inconsistent

Ebuehi as a wing back/full back

Eberechi Eze and Joe Aribo (and maybe Nnamdi Oforborh) as creative central midfielders: Using Ndidi and Etebo won't cut it. We were exposed by Algeria

For attack, we may need Odey and Okereke; I will wait until their first full season in Belgium and I hope they impress.

Rohrs Inability to kill time, as evident in both of the competitions he's been in charge as our coach is a product of his lack of intelligence and pragmatism as a coach. Doing what he ought to do (substitution) and successfully running down the clock would have eased the tension and fatigue on his team and provided time for him to restrategise and talk to his boys. This is Deja vu of the WC.
A familiar mistake knocked us out of the competition.
Its not any nonsense de ja vu

Why did Ndidi give such a daft foul away, why did the GK position himself and react terribly. This are the questions a neutral mind asks

Oga, no sane person would argue for Onazi in place of Ndidi whether as a starter or on the bench

Onazi suffered from lack of game time going into the world cup. No sane person will judge a player going off one match.

Can we lure the following Technical assistants to the Super Eagles to assist Rohr:

Peter Krawietz (Jurgen Klopp's assistant)

Marco Van Basten is currently unemployed

Marco Landucci is Juve's assistant

I know they are a long shot but we can always try. Especially for Marco
