Let him start before you resume, to ease the separation anxiety, drop him off as if you're going to work, then go pick him early. He will take pap. Express for him as well. It's even noon sef not 6pm, both of you will be fine grin

Ok mama. I will try to register him a week before I resume, we will be alright by God's grace.... Thanks so much.

Okay ma, so there's no need to buy the supplement?

I'm not a doctor but I'll say no need. You the mum can be taking vitamin supplements while doing exclusive. No need for baby to take anything. I usually just continue with my pregnancy supplements.

Hope you didn't do this

Don't administer antibiotics to a child without a doctor's prescription please

I took him to the hospital, the doctor prescribed exiplon cough syrup, paracetamol syrup, vitamin c and augmentin syrup(antibiotics). I had to take him when he throws up after coughing seriously. Thanks for your concern

Hello mama, pls is it Septrim or septrin and is it a syrup? What brand? My 7mo DS cough increased yesterday & we were told to get Vitamin C, Paracetamol, Baby Rex, Becombion & Novalyn handy cos he may be teething... I only intend getting the first 3 & something for the cough but need to be sure about the septrin
please take your son to see a pediatrician, all d above mentioned drugs u were told by people close to u are just guess work, d doctor knws d exact drugs to prescribe. I bought drugs worth 2750 and I've already seen changes in my son. D vomitting has stopped and his catarrh has reduced too

By a doctor? Mami he's 7 months, let them run a FBC to see if there's infection so a proper antibiotic can be prescribed. Otherwise, Vit C and steam inhalation will help. Use Olba's oil instead of silverbird and don't put it on your baby's skin

Thank you mama, we got the drugs just yesterday, I guess we are being impatient to see results... If by this evening no result, I'm heading to the hospital. Thank you so much

I went to H-medix & the nurse there gave me some drugs. Vit C, Cofex(for cough), Calpol(for catarrh) & Emtrim. I'm still skeptical using the Emtrim tho, want to start this morning. If no change I'd go to the hospital by evening. Thank you

Madam Hmedix nurse is NOT a paediatrician!!!

You seem bent on self medicating your child and for the life of me I cant even understand why!

Take your baby to the doctor!!!
If you've already done that, then simply administer the drugs that was prescribed for him by the doctor! When you've completed the dosage and theres no change, take your baby back to the doctor! Stop taking chances with your child!!!

The worse thing you can do to a child is to keep buying drugs prescribed by people who know nothing about the working of a child's system just because it worked on theirs!

I dont even know why I'm stressing sef

I've told myself not to comment on anything concerning drugs on this thread again, the last time I did, it ended up in an argument.
I had to correct her before she dose the baby with paracetamol thinking is catarrh syrup.
Some coughs are normal flora, allergy or an infection

Walahi, I had the experience this last week. It was a cough spree for my son last week, on our way from work, we went to see a Dr who prescribed a drug for my son. Ok, we bought the drug and it was 250mg to be taken for 5 days. On taking the first those, my boy didn't sleep from around 1 am till 3:30 am, he was just coughing non stop. I was so scared. We didn't allow him to go to school in order to monitor and give him the drug according to time. By the time he took the 3rd dose, he was relieved.

ok, why sharing this?

I don't know what took my husband to his chemist friend and he told him about the cough, told him the drug we have bought, thats how the chemist guy said one bottle will not be enough that my son was suppose to take the drug for 10 days. He bought the same type of drug and came home, I was dosing when he was telling me that he had bought additional bottle , that he is going to take it after we finish the first one. I said ok. The following morning, I saw the drug on the table and discovered the pack was different from the one we bought. I took my time to read the content and discovered that the one we bought is 250mg and the one his chemist friend sold to him is 125mg. Meaning its the same dosage (250mg to be taken for 5 days), (125mg is to be taken for 10 days). That's how I left the drug on the table o and finish the one we bought, Had it been I didn't take my time to read the leaflet, I would have given him overdose.

If the guy really knows what he was doing, he was suppose to ask my husband the mg of the drug he bought before given him another one. So, owing a chemist shop does not qualify them to prescribe drug. Those people at pharmacy shops are there to learn and attend to customers.

sorry for my long post and typing errors.

Make I face front.

please, let me drop this here. this rainy season comes with a lot of cough and catarrh. i personally don't like too much drugs on children because

they really can't tell you if they have any side effects. what i do for my son is to massage his throat, chest and ribs with ori and palm kernel oil.

also, apply ori to the bridge of his nose and holes as well (my son doesn't like it so i do it when he's sleeping). it works for adults too

Hello all pls I need help from someone that d child or children has passed through this tonsillitis of a thing, I was on admission with my two year old almost two months back due to highly inflamed tonsils. The temperature was something else even some brand of ibuprofen (u have to get a right brand) could not beat down d temperature. Antibiotics couldn't until they had to give via d veins then after about 5 days he was better and we were discharged to continue with oral antibiotics(one kind brand of cefuroxime) which they gave to us in d hospital. we gave him but the thing is after some days d body started getting hot again we had to go get orelox which was quite expensive but he got better. It's almost two months now but he has started running temperature again and d tonsils are inflamed again. I'm stressed this period as I have issues with bp. Pls is there any home therapy or any way to prevent d tonsillitis stuff? I know about having d tonsils removed but we are just looking at that as d LAST option though. He doesn't go to creche and he hasn't started school. He's mostly at home. We just treated his elder sister of severe tonsillitis though could it be she reinfected him? But with all the plenty antibiotics he has been taking I didn't expect he would catch it so easily. He's been on antibiotics now for 5days and just finished antimalaria but is even getting worse. Pls any ideas?

We started at 18 months but used a school with a very flexible play group programme i.e the children sleep anytime they're sleepy, eat at anytime they're hungry and the teachers pottytrain.
