When Rohr said he was too weak and unable to play the role of a striker we wanted to murder the wise old man in cold blood.

He was absolutely correct.

He wasn't as poor as Tammy was when he was hurriedly capped in that match against an experimental German side by Southgate, to give him a false hope that he would be considered for the world cup, was he? grin

Abeg Uzoho dey give me joy abeg grin

The guy oozes confidence on a very encouraging scale

Even if he still conceeds goals once in awhile, he is far far better than that clown in Akpeyi.

Akpeyi should stay far away from our team

Gbam, the guy still looks amateurish. Now I understand why Rohr never gave him a chance at the heat of the competition.

We really need a striker to replace Ighalo who to be is becoming very slow
komekn:

After watching Osimhen 50 minutes of football against a mediocre Tunisia my conclusion he is way behind Ighalo and he not even an understudy.

We need to find a STRIKER

The strength of super eagle is counter attacks and creative player ... We lack both it seems our players are confused when they suppose play counter attack . How can a coach come to 24 team tournament with just one play maker ?

So true. Even a simple catch would bounce off Akpeyi's hands. And if there's no threatening opponent, he may reclaim it. I get so nervous when I see a ball floating in the air and heading his way. You have no idea what's gonna happen to that ball. You're not sure if he's gonna get a grip on it, or the ball would slide off his hands. Worse still, he misjudges and an opponent with less advantage would get to the ball before him, and voila!
cheesy

safarigirl:
leave them.

That corner kick that Uzoho punched away in the second half, could have easily been a goal. The free kick he caught, could have entered the net as well.

Our coaching staff made a very big mistake discarding Uzoho for Akpeyi. I was expecting his world cup experience would come in handy. Today he showed he aint no tourney novice

And probably he would have done better to prevent that mahrez free kick from going in. Wall arrangement was poor. Keeper positioning was poor as well.

Uzoho is better than akpeyi ,everybody knows that one ,and I will prefer uzoho to akpeyi even 90 percent of Nigerians

But as for this match ,nothing uzoho do ok ,how many clear chance Tunisia get ?

How many shot on target ?

Uzoho was not tested seriously

when assessing goal keepers you don't look at just their reflexes and agility. You also have to consider other attributes such as positioning, bravery, handling, kicking, concentration, command of area etc etc

There is no single attribute I would rate Akpeyi highly. Uzoho is brave and commands his area well enough for a '20 year old'. His handling and positioning though are not great.

They are not confused but Musa messes the effort up with his poor decision making. Only if onyekuru will learn to play more for the team I forsee him and kalu retiring Musa soon. Musa was very annoying in this tournament

Inspite of Ighalo's goals, his performances were poor to average. His best game was against Cameroon.

His movement is still poor so most of his goals came from rebounds and not good attacking play. He does not give midfielders options.. way too static.

Osimhen broke free on the right and left a few times, how many times have you seen Ighalo break free on the wings?

Osimhen offered a different dynamic today for anyone watching with a keen eye. His final balls were poor but he got himself in good positions.

Rohr promised to play attacking football. It is either he failed to keep his promises or he doesn't know how to.

We had an above average tournament despite the win. Our boys didn't play to their full potentials.

While we must be thankful to Rohr for bringing us the bronze medal after several years of absence from AFCON, he has too many deficiencies as a manager and he takes the majority of the blame for both our losses in this tournament.

Rohr must make valuable use of the opportunity given to him in that Refresher course at Bayern Munich. I haven't seen the NFF do that for any local coach. He must open his mind to how football is played today and not in the conservative 80s. He shouldn't be caught sleeping in class because he is an old man grin grin.

We need reinforcement badly. I expect our scouts to start with a pool of 50 players going forward (at least). We are too blessed with footballing talent to be serial underperformers.

Mikel, Ogu, Akpeyi, Ezenwa, Alloy Agu has outlived their usefulness in this team. Musa, Ighalo, Balogun should be eased out slowly not because of their ability but due to ageing. We need replacements in our central midfield. Balogun needs to sit-up. Getting comfy on a bench because you're earning more is disastrous. Ask Iheanacho.

Etebo and Ndidi deserve a long rest. Bar some errors, they are true fighters.

Ekong needs to evaluate his career and performance at this AFCON. His performance was average and below expectations. One wonders if he is truly improving at Udinese or his double played for the SE instead of the real Ekong.

Omeruo stills needs some polishing. One more season should do the trick.

Chukwueze has a lot to learn. I am always wary when too much praises are heaped on a very young player that is not Mbappe. I hope such praises don't go to his head. He needs to learn to cross the ball or finish more accurately. Studying Robben's tapes should help if he really wants to surpass him but how many of our players have this mentality?

Osimhen and Onyekuru have a lot to learn obviously. I wondered why Rohr didn't start them or give them enough game time but this AFCON exposed them. It is either they didn't bring their game or Rohr just doesn't know how to inspire confidence or they aren't good enough yet.

We won the bronze. That is something but it is back to the drawing board. A good idea would be to regularly expose our local coaches (the most promising ones) to refresher courses. Pinnick is a good fund-raiser and I believe funds is not the major stumbling block but will.

I expect the following guys to up their game and grab a place in the Super Eagles:

Joe Aribo

Azubuike something something...I don forhet grin grin

Ovie Ejaria

The fact that you guys have failed to give Uzoho his due accolades in this game, is just funny.

He has had some amazing saves in this game and is largely responsible for this win. To hold 1-0 from two minutes, is due to the brilliance of the keeper

The boys look largely disappointed, despite this win. I am sure they feel this game is beneath them, that finals is what they really wanted. I am glad they feel enough shame to be this remorseful

At last the light weight player.

Described by many here as lightning quick, mobile, very skillful, clinical finishing and top notch off the ball movement.

These are some of the attributes he has been said to have by many here not least TheGoodJoe.

Add to that many have said he is better than Ighalo.

So let's open our eyes and see Tunisia is not a physical side they are more of a technical side, so he will not be bullied off the ball. He has a whole half plus injury time to show his quality.

He lacks the experience to play at this stage. Maybe he didn't get better service from our players.

Tunisia is not a quality team comparative to Egypt and Algeria.

But by now we should have finished off the game and scored another 2/3 goals. But we are playing a dangerous game one mistake and we are in trouble.

We should be dominating the game but we are allowing them to much space and time.

Musa leaves after running up and down with very little quality in terms of end product.

What makes a QUALITY player is CONSISTENCY something too many of our players lack. Iwobi has not been IMPRESSIVE too.

The slow pace of the encounter against Tunisia showed that the lads were fatigued and I blame Rohr.

Ndidi and etebo and Iwobi looked stressed and very tired and this was due to the lack of quality reserve players in the midfield department.

I see no reason why Rohr took only four midfielders to a tournament that had 24 teams competing.

No need for the blame game cus the deed hv been done but such mistake shouldn't be allowed to resurface again.

Also Rohr and his scouting team have a lot of work to do in the coming season in the area of monitoring possible players who can add more quality to the team especially in the midfield and number 9 position.
