Abike Dabiri, chairman of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission has said the South African Police is being sued over the assault on a Nigerian resident in the country.

Recall that ex-Big Brother Africa housemate and Nigerian model, Tayo Faniran, was assaulted and strangled by South African police on Friday.

He was going in his car when the police stopped him and assaulted him without any evidence against him. He captured the incident live on camera for the whole world to see what happened and later explained in another separate video how he was thoroughly tortured by the police.

According to an Instagram live video shared online, Faniran was arrested and brutally tortured after he refused to enter an unmarked police vehicle. Dabiri-Erewa, however, got hold of the news and gave a report about the release of Faniran and said she was going to ensure justice was served in this matter.

She said that the South African Police have been sued and that a case is being pressed against them for their brutality.

No country will value the lives of another country's citizens that is not valued by its own government. A neighbor will only be confident to beat your children if he sees you have no respect for them. It's a natural response and opportunity every oppressor seek for; a defenseless prey.

When Trump introduced the slogan 'America First', it resonated around the world that America will defend its interests and citizens anywhere in the world. All that heard took notice.

When citizens and a people pledge to a country to defend her honor and uphold her glory, the least they expect from government is to reciprocate in measure.

Good response, yes. It shouldn't be selective though. What if Tayo was a random Nigerian?

After seeing that video, I was happy because at last there is an evidence to sue those Xenophobic police officers. I'm already looking forward to this court case.

But I can already predict how it will go.

Judge to SAPS officer: "Why did you blow Mr. Tayo Faniran"?

SAPS officer: "Since Tayo has refused to blow, I decided to blow him".

Judge: This is obviously an act of selfless service, Mr Officer.
Case dismissed.

No need to sue them. Just respond economically through their companies here by sealing them down and see how their government will on their own deal with the culprits themselves

Commendable but there needs a lot more done. Not just ad hoc action like but a strong remonstration with SA govt with a threat of devere economic and political sanctions.

The life and welfare of a foreign citizen abroad is only worth the value their home country places on them.

But our leaders have monies hidden in South African real estate and banks. So they won't dare.

Senseless talk.

An American was arrested in North Korea, tortured until he died.

Russia done same to UK citizens

UAE done that to many Nationals of developed countries that cater for their citizens better than Nigeria does.

Tell me how brutality in foreign land related to Government in these countries?
