Ah, a man of science and taste.Because of naija power issues, I have been shying away from using a NAS. I should probably take the plunge though. Right now it's the crude local hard drive that has to be updated every week or so

Next step for me is to properly organize my rom library so I can enjoy retro gaming proper. Funny how freeware playnite is better at identifying games than commercial launchbox.

The ongoing struggle is dolphin and my wii library. The wii is no longer in production and the controllers on the market are hit and miss. I have been having pairing issue frustration. Of course it could just be me getting older and missing a not so obvious setting or maybe just assuming things would work as advertised.

My setup is mostly in the living room. I have tried to conceal wires as much as possible. My soundbar supports hdmi pass through, and that was the root of my original misery. Most of the audio options simply did not work. Once I guessed I could simply connect one pc hdmi port directly to the soundbar hdmi in and another hdmi port to the TV, everything started working beautifully.

Your br rip is directly from the blue ray
Your web dl is from a streaming service eg Netflix or amazon prime

Your HDtv rip is basically an analog hole capture from the the TV

Ditto for webrip

I only got one pvrip ( pay per view) and that was tangled the movie years back when I could not wait

There is a marked difference between HDTV rips and webdls. I remember my first shock when a 480p the walking dead webdl was way sharper than a 720p HDTV rip. Since then, I have focused mainly on webdl. Also because I don't like those artifacts from HDTV rips.( Logos, adverts etal) I can wait for a complete season webdl release. As of today I have not watched got because I want to watch the entire series in a uniform quality. (Earlier dls are 480)My data use has changed and I now focus on 720, 1080, and occasionally 2160.

A proper webdl will upscale with then picture sharpness intact. An hdrip will be blurry like when you stretch a picture to fill your desktop.

I have also moved from using nitro to mkv cage. Nitro has the smallest 720p and 1080ps but mkv cage has proper chapters and they name their files properly

I remember years ago when I bought one of those 10 in one dvds. That was how I first watched alien and it was destroyed for me by the 320p resolution it had been downsampled to fit on the dvd. Same way back in uni,
I and my friends had a movie night with a cinema dub of the lost world. We all agreed it was a lousy movie. Then a year later an uncle sent me a clear vhs copy. Neither I nor my friends could believe it. The difference was night and day.

So I always try to ensure I can have the best experience I can afford. Quality video, quality hardware, and enough tinkering to get the best out of both. Need to find a one button solution for soap opera effect. That made an already difficult TLJ even harder to enjoy

All this i know and that's why i said and repeat, webdl is really the worst source with your set of gadget you have and for you to enjoy. And Nitro encodes are okay for those who want to minimise data cost and still get a pretty decent quality (stop using them since like late 2015 early 2016), mkvcage is the absolute worst place to go to if you want to minimise data cost and retain quality, ridiculously big size with a quality on per with Nitro, They are my absolute last place for me to go to for anything.
Now back to the question of webdl, as you rightly pointed out it is a Digital Version (HD) quality tho but with your "specs" of gadget is simply not enough.
After Webdl, there is Brrip 720p>Brrip 1080p (Full Hd upscaling)>Bluray 10bit 720p>Bluray 10bit 1080p, Bluray 10bit 1080p 3D > finally Blu ray 10bit 2160p (HDR)(4K). The latter 2 are encoded only for "collectors item" movies of which Endgame is an example on one, and that's the quality you really want to be getting for your range of gadgets, but is a data killer, lets take captain marvel for example, on the site i used the 10 bit Blu ray 2160p HDR was about 2.10gb and the Bluray True Atmos 7.1 sound file (for a cinema sound experience this you mux with your soundbar if it's 7.1 CH compatible) was about 3.98gb so the movie with that quality will set you back at least 6.1Gb!....Always remember mkvcage is the absolute worst data wise and quality wise....Shalom

Kaya Scodelario is trying to find her feet and I haven't been particularly impressed with her acting so far..The story line of this looked Cliché but from your perspective was it any good?

I had no clue about the film before I watched it, as it was a secret screening and I hadn't seen the advert. Not bad, I did laugh in some places. Not sure if that was their intention, but I tend to laugh at stupid horror characters. As for the actress, she doesn't need to impress me, since I've known her from Skins. In fact those gen 1 kids from Skins are still killing it. Daniel Kaluuya, Dev Patel, Nicholas Hoult (was already big from About a Boy), Hannah Murray & Joe Dempsie. Kaya even did gen 2 sef as well. She simply needs to choose better projects.
