This is pathetic I must say. I salute the Governor for this. He should not forget to sack all the Doctors not present on duty.
Sacking doctors in Nigeria impossible O! the medical doctors association will go on strike, that why civil servants are one of the reason Nigeria is backward.

How much does he earn monthly as a governor?

How much do they pay the doctors?
How many months salary is he owing the doctors?

Is the hospital well equipped for the doctors to be able to do their job or do they use their meager salary to buy fuel in generators to attend to emergencies?

Does he patronise Nigerian hospitals or always travel to London even for slightest headache?

Nigerian doctors perform excellently outside the country, so don't come here and drag doctors into your dirty politics. Doctors are humans too and they have families to feed and bills to pay.

If the government do their part, doctors will do their job. After all, medical students are some of the most hard working when we were in school.

Do you really feel that any of the above justifies the doctors leaving their patients unattended to? Why not resign and leave, so that at least we would know that there is no doctor there? Why take they meager pay, and t do the job at all?

Imagine the doctors are suppose to be on duty not picking their call, because they know they are protected by the medical unions that will go on strike immediately.

10 doctors were to suppose to be on night duty.

For that patient to even go to a government hospital first instead of going to a private clinic shows that his case is not pathetic enough.

The governor is very wicked,
Why should the doctors be at work when they have their own private clinics; so he wants their private practice to suffer abi?
It's not even as if the government pays them their salaries regularly.

Funniest thing I've read today!

The 10 doctors on duty is too small and the problem is not the governor fault. Employment of medical doctors is the biggest scam in Nigeria, the medical doctor association of Nigeria records might show 30 doctors to 50 doctors on night duty, but because of corruption and ghost workers we see just 10 unavailable doctors on duty.

[quote author=akinhanger post=80776835]Borno Governor Visits Hospitals, Finds Patients In Pathetic Condition "No Doctor On Duty"

The Borno State Governor, Prof Umara Zulum paid an unscheduled visit to Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital and the State Specialist hospital, last night.

At Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital, he met patients in pathetic condition and could not find a single doctor on duty. As a result of their absence, Prof Zulum had to place a call to all the 10 medical Doctors on duty, but none of them answered the call not knowing it was the Governor that was calling.

Only 10 nurses were found on duty out of about 138 nurses on the payroll. The Governor went round all the wards to see the situations of the patients and later requested for the hospital's staff pay book and made ,

Re: Governor Zulum Visits Borno Hospitals, No Doctors by dochenaj: 9:30pm On Jul 30, 2019
It was night and the doctors were "on call". They get called on, to attend to patients, they don't sit in the wards waiting for patients to come, that's what nurses do.

It would have been outrageous if he didn't see nurses or the nurses called on the doctor to attend to a patient and he didn't show up.

The governor has no authority to call them, only the nurse can.

It is the full hospital my brother. The doctor to patient ratio in Nigeria is abysmal. A doctor could be expected to manage upward of 200 patients while on call, that's how terrible it can be especially in the north.

As in ehh
And I'm sure all were very senior cadre that come from nearby homes when called. If there is no new emergency, do you expect them to stay by the besides and listen to village tales?

And calling them with his own phone was wrong, most doctors won't pick random calls unless it's a hospital number or ward number that they recognise.

Sorry for your mum but you're a bigger fool.

You should blame the system not the doctors. I slept outside all night at LUTH waiting for a doctor to attend to me. Had to go to another hospital in the morning when I realized our hospitals are nothing but graveyards.

My points exactly
Stupid governor playing to gallery
Meanwhile, I am sure the doctors are few, tired, overworked and underpaid.
Sack them already please and find other fresh victims, they don't deserve this

Nigeria is a joke.
After the Minister of Health, who is a medical doctor, said doctors are too many in Nigeria.
A time willbcome,Nigerians will go to hospital and there will be no doctor to attend to them

All roads lead to UK,Canada,US,Australia and other sane climes.

You seem to be making sense until you have a rethink and realize that these doctors are getting paid for not coming to work.

If Borno is not safe for you to work in, Borno job and salary should be unavailable to you. Simple and short.
Been there,done that.Yobe state 2013.
Not convenient/safe to go some days/periods.Health workers(not NGO workers) are premium targets for imam shekau and group.
That's all I'll say to you.

Bros forget what you read in the news. I wasn't there but I can tell you whatever you read in the news about the death of that corper is not true. I've seen police twist accident stories that I witnessed live before pressmen.
The governor can keep changing doctors but their attitude to work will remain because the system is faulty.

When they resign and you employ new doctors, let's see if the new doctors will do a better job.
There might be few bad eggs but most doctors will do well if the system is good. Doctor Adadevoh sacrificed her life to save Nigerians from ebola.
